The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Red Light Cameras: Ohio Case Challenges Constitutionality

We've all felt a little creepy about the whole idea of big brother watching us, particularly when that results in an automatic fine. Now an Ohio woman is challenging the constitutionality of red light and traffic cameras on the grounds that the tickets deny due process (Read About it Here). The case has made it all the way to the Ohio State Supreme Court. What impact their decision has on Marty's Money Makers is unclear, but what is clear is that people are becoming more and more concerned about the egregious fines imposed by these photographic toll booths.

This scam will eventually go by the way side, as the public (although not the sharpest pencils in the cup-Albq) will not tolerate this much longer. Same will apply to the crooks we have running things here. As the politicians leave so will the cameras and this "Stalin" we have running APD.

It appears that Mayor Marty doesn't think too highly of his "constituents", that we'll just drink his Kool-Aid® and do as we're told. Why else would we so blindly follow his "Red-Light cameras are for our safety only", and not for increased revenue for his Downtown Train to Nowhere? How much longer before he starts implementing the cameras to catch people using their cell phones and start another revenue generating operation on behalf of "Our" safety? Wait! I know! Marty will start placing cameras on all the orange barrels in the city! Then there will be such a budget surplus, he'll be able to bankroll his campaign for the governor's office! All on our behalf!
Wake up ABQ!

Everytime I drive by one of these cameras I get pissed off. It is bullhit that a camera at a red light makes intersections safer. HELLOOO do we live in a city full of stupid asses or what. Most accidents do not occur at an intersection, and the red light camera only covers a few feet of road....we will just speed up in between the red lights. SPEEDING isnt a devious act, Its not like Im speeding and laughing "haha look at me Im breaking the law now come and get me" I think there are other more serious deviant crimes that need attention. BTW my only accident happened at an intersection when the light was GREEN!!!

I too am pissed off by those things to the point that I am ready to leave albuquerque. I'm sure other people feel the same way. I try to avoid driving routes that take me past them and I no longer shop at the merchants on the SE side of town, which is a shame because they have the used record stores. Have you noticed that nearly all of the cameras are in the less affluent parts of town? Also, why are the fines still so high? In NC it's still $50/infraction no matter how many. These cameras are going to ruin this city. Maybe we should recall Marty and Bill like they did in CA, after all they seem to want to make ABQ like LA.

DON'T PAY!!!

I got one (speeding) and at the "hearing" the grinning idiot cop (Dan Houston) didn't even have documentation that my car was involved. None - and yet I was determined guilty because, as the hearing officer (Stanley Harada, another moron) put it "it's all in the database." Then why have a hearing, for crissake???

Anyhow, my solution for stopping Marty's slush fund scam is to simply refuse to pay. Though they threaten, no cars have been confiscated, and likely none will ever be. Sooner or later, and probably sooner, this nonsense will be determined unconstitutional anyway - and all will go away. And it will go away much sooner if we all refuse to contribute to this little throwback to 1960's Russia.

Just say NO!
