The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Indictments... Finally!

Now this is what we're talking about! Finally the long rumored indictments were handed down. Indictments that have been promised for at least six months now. Indictments that accuse political power broker Manny Aragon and three others of money laundering and mail fraud related to the construction of the Bernalillo County Courthouse. (ABQ Journal - Subscription Required)

Seems that former Senate Pro Tem Aragon, former metro court administrator Toby Martinez, P2RS engineering partner Raul Parra, and Sandra Mata Martinez, the afore mentioned Toby Martinez's wife, engaged in a scheme to pocket $4.2 MILLION of public money (at least according to the federal indictment).

Three others, architect Marc Schiff, contractor Manuel Guara, and former Republican Mayor Ken Shultz have already signed plea agreements relating to the scheme. According to KRQE News 13:

"Schultz worked as a lobbyist for one of the contractors on the courthouse construction project.

Schultz, Schiff and Guara admitted to conspiring with the other four defendants to defraud taxpayers of more than $4 million during the design and construction of the courthouse."

The reason that we emphasized Republican Mayor Ken Shultz is because news outlets both nationally and locally have either directly or indirectly implied that Congresswoman Wilson and Senator Dominici put pressure on former U.S. Attorney David Iglesias in order to get Democrats. The fact of the matter is that this state is run largely by Democrats and has been for the last 80 or so years. It should come as no surprise that a prominent Democrat was caught up in the FBI's investigation.

Democrats don't hold the exclusive right to greed and unscrupulous Republicans can and do get caught with their hands in the cookie jar. That's why it is so important to have a strong U.S. Attorney that will face down corruption no matter who's involved.

Former U.S. Attorney Iglesias failed us all badly in this regard by letting this rabidly corrupt dog lie. Our Eyes on the Inside (yes we had eyes even before The Eye) have been telling us that indictments have been in the works since at least August of last year and that the FBI investigation had concluded well before that time.

Now it's all up to the attorneys, the judge and the jury... Finally!

I find it just amazing that you get Iglesias out of the way and by "coincidence" the indictments come down. Could it be that Iglesias was the problem???

Exactly. If not Pete or Heather, who else was supposed to ask Iglesias just 'what the hell he was doing' I applaud both the Congresswomen and the Senator for asking him(Iglesias) about the corruption in this state. It was his job to nail these people, not look the other way and curry favor or money to do so. That's not what we hired this 'sad sack' to do. What a disappointment. Then, he has the audacity to go to Washington and cry about being pressured. Please. Might have it influenced how the elections turned out? You bet; and that's fine with me, just maybe, the one's that are in office now wouldn't be. They would have been in jail before election day, had iglesias done his job.

'Damage control' is all a buzz at City Hall this morning. Guess Marty is trying to distance himself from all this, by saying that although Margaret(ex-wife) was the realtor in the over inflayed land which the Court House sits on, his separation from her was due to the fact that she and her family(Manny)was corrupt. Now if you believe that, and that HE didn't benefit from Margaret's real estate inflated commision, I've got swamp land in Florida I'd love to sell you. That is, if Margaret hasn't already sold it to the City of Albuquerque.

History repeats. Whe Schultz was Mayor he controlled the police dept and gutting the investigation section that kept track of his corruption. Now Marty controls the police dept and has a gutless chief, how ironic.

Again, the eye lies. I happen to have a REAL source on the inside of this investigation (who, by the way, is a strong republican). The investigation WAS NOT complete in November. Had the indictments come then, they may not have stuck due to the case not being completed (that was how that Ho guy at Los Alamos got off----a publicity-hungry US attorney jumped the gun before the case was ripe).

By doing things the right way, the US attorney's office now has a good case that should land these well-known croks in jail, where they belong.

To the real insider:

Will our presidential campaigning governor escape this corruption? Inch by inch, the investigation is climbing a political mountain.

Marty & Margaret were involved also. Lets not forget the over inflated land price and the those kickbacks as well.

Response: two blogs up. I hope you are prepared for the indictments that come down on your friends at PD & the Mayor's office, you know, the other well none 'Crooks', spelled with two Os, and lands THEM in jail, where they also belong.
By the way I know who you and your source are.
Maybe you and your source should go before Congress and testify on behalf of David Iglesias. Or, maybe you'll both be subpeonaed real soon. Happy trails.
