The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. All Hail The Almighty Alcalde!

Marty can be Mayor for Life

It's not like anyone's surprised or anything but Monday His Honor got his first victory in quite a long time - at least since the last time we sent him back to his perch on the 11th floor. Yes, Marty can run... aaagain.

The Journal reported Tuesday that Judge Linda Vanzi found the Albuquerque City Charter's term limits to be unconstitutional under the New Mexico state constitution (ABQ Journal - Subscription). Of course the city's contract attorneys didn't really put up much of a fight.
"Respondents believe that the mayor term limits provision of the Albuquerque City Charter is inconsistent with the qualifications clause of the New Mexico Constitution ... and as such is unconstitutional,"
As a taxpayer, we wonder exactly how much we paid Joseph Goldberg, Theresa Duncan and Michael Goldberg - the city's contract attorneys - to essentially say "we surrender." Kinda' sounds like a Monty Python skit... "run away, run away, run away!" And apparently it took no less than three, yes THREE attorneys to lose this case without firing a shot or making an argument.

Damn! Whatever happened to vigorously defending your client's (read taxpayer's) position? Who knows, perhaps a good argument might have gone a long way towards reversing the previous decision striking down term limits for councilors. It certainly would have been better than... "we surrender!" But we guess when the guy signing the checks is the same guy that's suing your client the outcome was never really in doubt.

As you might have guessed we are for term limits - especially for executive positions. At least legislative shenanigans are held somewhat in check by the other legislators. But, after eight years even the dumbest executive has managed to stack their branch of government with allies that will look the other way when they screw-up or even break the law. Just imagine how many of Marty's Minions wander the halls of power after eleven years.

A pleased Chavez told the Journal, "It brings clarity to the landscape, and I've had a lot of folks encouraging me to seek an additional term." It certainly makes things clear. The Almighty is going to run again and if we're not very careful we'll all be forced to scream "All Hail The Almighty Alcalde!"

The bull is so thick they can smell it on the 11th floor and throughout the rest of the city. I am not speaking of the stench that emanates from city hall but the stench from the eye. If you believe in term limits then demand Winter step down. He has served for more consecutive years than the Mayor. Winter just won his third term and I never saw you criticize his choice to ignore the council term limits that were ruled unconstitutional. Either be consistent or shut up. I am tired of reading the Brad Blog, a blog that started only after Marty kicked his butt. I am not the biggest fan of the Mayor, but at least he does not deploy his minions to badger his enemies with inconsistent diatribes.

If you call on Brad to leave, we might believe you are sincere. The Winter Minions once again demonstrate Brad’s Blog is the Eye.

This city can't take four more years of this clown!

As a city employee, please hide all the guns knives and sharp objects from me so that I can't end it all.
As a tax payer, you might as well just shoot me now and put me out of my misery.
The ONLY reason I would ever encourage the little puke to run again would be the satisfaction I would get watching him lose.

I don't know why this web site is so negative, Mayor Marty has been great for the city! I think you guys have an agenda here. Go Marty! Hes our kinda Mayor!!!

God help this city if that happends.

Someone needs to take out a billboard and put this website out on it for the entire city of Albuquerque to read! maybe his competition will put it out. This way, everyone will understand how bad this mayor is!

When are one of you cops going to have the balls to bust Marty? Everyone knows he's a frequent public drunk and drunk driver, and most people know how he used to beat Margaret bloody. How about next time you bust him DUI, you call the news stations?

Bottom line, that's what this game is all about. Running the city and policing the city, it's all about business and nothing more. Everyone on 11 and 5 is just businessmen and not the "public servants" they paint themselves to be. They're no better than the crooks and thieves at Enron, Wall Street and other corporate entities. The sooner we all realize this better off we'll all be. Just look at the picture directly to your right. Come on! These are corporate whores and nothing more!!

I believe we are entering a political Apocalypse. Not just locally but throughout the Nation.

Corporate America is in place, not just in Abq., it's everywhere. Cities and police departments are becoming corporate and the only interest the actors involved have is the interest of moving up the corporate ladder, making political promises and job opportunities available for friends, political supporters, family members, etc. Police are not above it either. While old-time policing seemed to be about having a personal agenda against drugs and gangs, now it seems like it's just about business -- fudging the numbers, the percentages, the quotas. It's just business, and nothing more.

Come on guys, Marty's a great Mayor! He stood up to the bully cops and held them at bay. The fire dept loves him, as do us citizens. He's our Mayor!!!

Yeah guys! Come on, he's a great mayor! He beats his wife, gets dui's, get in hit an runs, yeah, come on guys! Perfect role model for our community! Spends a horrific amount of money on crap put on the side of the freeways, takes red light camera money to balance his budget, come on guys, he's our mayor!

"the fire department loves him"
What planet are you from? Oh let me guess the 11th floor, brown room?

You obviously aren't a firefighter. We're happy with the raise we got. But, as a whole, it's more like we despise him. We just have to play the game to get what we want, and APD should have done the same if they're so unhappy.

The firefighter union was the only City union that endorsed him for Senate. You think that's because we "love" him? NO, it's because we wanted the raise we deserved!

Yeah AFD loves him, he picked the only guy on the Dept shorter than him for chief -- yeah we dig him the most.

He is a poor leader hands down. Yells and curses at his subordinates. Uses threats of discipline to gain complince on questionable issues. Its time for new blood period. Should not be allowed to run again. He has done good things for the City but has caused twice as many problems. We need new blood and he need to pursue a job that will give him renewed motivation to do the right thing.

If Marty Chavez didn't have his power he would be a scared little punk like he was in high school. A scared little nerd. That day will be here again soon!

Every police in every city is assigned to "mayoral duty" (covering the mayor's ass and covering it up) especially if they want to work their way up the corporate ladder...remember this (city) is run like a business and nothing more. The cops don't care if they're covering for him, that's their assignment.

They are not business men!!! They would be filing bankruptcy if they had the balls to try and run a real business, not a tax payer funded screwup. They don't have a bottom line or a P&L to worry about.

I thought he did file chapter 11 after his 1st term. Isn't that the reason he stays in public office!

Marty is a bully and a LIAR. I have absolutely no respect for the man. Having been personally involved in legal ranglings with him and been threatened by him has only made me dig my heels in deeper. You don't intimidate me you little tiny prick.

I am going to personally enjoy being a part of his demise in politics. His lies and shameful behavior will be out in the open!

Whew, I have an urge to take a shower after talking about that nasty little man...

You'll get over it.......

We are over it. Fact is he is economically friendly to the city. It takes less fabric to make his short suits which means less pollution, less man hours on sewing, ect. If he recieved uniform vouchers he could get two suits with one voucher.

You all think$108,000 is a lot of money? Sgt. Heh did bust his tail for that money. Just think how much more he could've made if he counted his court overtime like the DWI Sgt. and his troops count their overtime. Sgt. Heh has gotten so many DWI convictions because of his hard work and ability to testify in such matters unlike other Sgt.'s who arrest DWI's and can't testify worth a shit. Some Sgt's testifying skills are so bad, that an entire roadblock was thrown out of court so you guys tell me, is he only stopping drunks for the money. Yes and no but he sure as hell ain't getting paid what these lower than dirt skum bag attorny's are getting paid to try and get them drunk asses off. If we got paid $2,500 to $5,000 per DWI we arrested, even you officers that hate DWI's would start arresting them and spending all your off time in court for a misdemeanor case. Sgt. Heh really wasn't raising hell about money for him because he can make more working overtime if he wanted. He was honestly trying to get more money for the veteran officers. You all know we all would want more money and we love those big paychecks when we work all that OT, so even if we all get a little raise or go up to 28, 30 or even 50 dollars an hour, there will still be drunk drivers out there, there will still be all that overtime out there and mainly, there will always be officers out there willing to work and get that overtime.
