The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Approval? Really?

A little over a week ago Marty's Minions were running around with a poll from Lake Research Partners that made the Almighty Alcalde look like a lock for a 4th term. Of course the poll was trotted out by Democratic consultant Joe Monahan.
Voters continue to hold Chavez in high regard. Two-thirds (66%) say they have a favorable impression of the man, including 28% who have a very favorable impression of him. Only 27% have an unfavorable opinion of Chavez.
Marty's poll didn't quite square with our impression so we decided to run our own unscientific poll last week. Eye readers were no where near as generous as Marty's Lake Research Poll. 44% of Eye participants said the mayor was doing a terrible job, 19% not so good, 8% fair, 11% good, and 17% said the mayor was doing an excellent job (view it here). No matter how you slice it 63% of respondents weren't all that happy with the job Marty's doing as mayor.

Look, we understand that our little poll isn't exactly scientific, but even Monahan admits that Marty's Lake Research poll seems a bit off noting that Marty's Minions failed to release the questions that led to their conclusions.

We suspect that the Almighty Alcalde was simply trying to scare potential opponents into staying out of the race. You may have noticed that his intimidation tactic hasn't worked as he now faces two councilors from his own party and our Eyes tell us that two time 1st Congressional District candidate Richard Romero plans on running under the Eli Lee banner.

This week we're taking up the right/wrong question. Is your city headed in the right or the wrong direction? Let us know what you think.

As much as I don't like Michael Cadigan, I would vote for him before I would vote for the current dictator, Mayor Marty Chavez!

i Agree....Marty needs to move on. Cadigan looks like a strong choice.

A VOTE FOR CADIGAN,IS A VOTE FOR STALIN! HIS TREATMENT OF CITY WORKERS STINKS, HE IS SO FULL OF HIMSELF. CADIGAN WOULD TAX US INTO THE STONE AGE.

The good thing is there will be plenty of people to chose from.

No more Marty! We all saw what happened when he tried to run for senate. I think the little guy is scared of the people running. Not to mention Marty has lost all his friends!!!!!!

Look how he gave Pete Denili a high paying job to keep him out of the race. Pete sold his soul for the cash. Marty needs to go!

I think Sheriff Darren White should run for Mayor. He would be a good choice if he cleans out the police dept's administration Marty created. .......

WHITE FOR MAYOR!!!!!!!!!!!

We need somebody who has a heart ... I haven't seen anybody in the running yet

Darren (I never met a camera I didn"t like) White and Romero are both unelectable. Both have proven that they can't garner the vote for major office. As for Cadigan, a vote for him is a vote to lay off city employees. His budget proposal would slash employees jobs. Not upper Mgt jobs but street level service jobs. Cuts like this only lead to more unemployment, less money in peoples pockets to spend and so the cycle continues.....

Regarding the poll, I wonder who they asked, because everyone I talk too hates Marty.

Maybe they just surveyed his high payed at will employees. Whether they like him or not they have the dirt on them and can keep their double dipping income as long as Marty is Mayor.

Whoever wrote this garbage is one dumb fucko....? Is that what Cadigan said? The Chavez campaign is at again with the rumors, innuendos, and outright lies. What he said was he would not fill positions that are not "currently" filled meaning they are "empty". What about the middle management position you filled in Animal Services at a cost of $100,000 a year this in a economic downturn Mr. Mayor? You could have hired 2-3 bus drivers to provide more service to the citizens of Albuquerque.

You all have got to be kidding. I live on the WS and Cadigan has done nothing for us. He did not build the Paseo extension, or widen Montano. He actually raised my taxes and restricted my property line due to his tax appropropriations for the Petroglyphs. He is a liberal like the rest. At least the current Mayor has brought thousands of jobs to ALbuquerque without raising the taxes. You need to wake up folks.

Mayor Marty has no where else to go.... He tested the waters for Senate and tested the waters for Governor and the rest of New Mexico said, " I don't think so!" So why would Albuquerque be different? If your claim to fame is Mayor for the Armpit of the Southwest, then he should be proud of himself. If the citizens of ALbuquerque really want Marty for a 4th term than they are dumber than I thought.... Marty thinks he is something special when we know he has nothing more than the short mans' complex.... He is what 5' 2" with high heels??? I saw him at Starbucks but he ran in and out with the look of fear that a citizen might actually try to talk to him.... Hmmm an elected official who wont talk to you in a non-election year...go figure...

The silly season is in full swing. How long until Jim Baca "anonymously" pushes his own name for Mayor like some of the other clowns out there?

We need to make sure the Obama people know about and read this site to see just how bad Chavez really is.

He claims to help hispanics, the only person he has ever helped is himself. He has never helped the hispanics.

I bet the Governor would make sure the Obama people see this site.

Darren White will not change the police departments administration, as he once worked with the evil chief, and is good friends with him so dont count on him changing anything a apd

You can find fault with Marty, but all in all, he is doing a better job than most of the probable candidates you have mentioned. I'll stick with Marty for 4 more...

White hasn't changed anything at BCSO either except the uniform. You think Chavez is out for himself? (which he is) Wait till you put White into office. Go talk to the BSCO guys..the ones with any guts will tell you how f*** up the department is..

He changed those ugly ass cars to the current black & whites! Thats a milestone right there so dont say he hasn't changed anything.
