The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. A New Beginning

Today the City of Albuquerque will experience something that we have something we haven't had in 8 long years... a new beginning. Marty will be handing over the keys to the city and taking many of his merry band of minions with him.

We've been critical of some of Mayor-Elect Berry's choices - particularly Chief Schultz and David Campbell. However, they are Berry's choices for good or ill. The major difference between the outgoing mayor and the incoming mayor is that R.J. Berry is making choices that he believes are good for the city - people who can keep the governmental lights on and keep the buses running on time.

Monday, the Albuquerque Journal ran what can only be described as a puff piece - fortunately the final puff piece of the Chavez tenure. Predictably, the Journal's focus was on the Chavez Legacy.
"I think, when all is said and done, people will say Mayor Chávez got things done," Chávez said Friday in a telephone interview. "The city is dramatically different than it was, I believe, when we started."

He added that he had help from city administrators: "I can't take full responsibility for everything."
The article goes on to list water conservation, the Montaño Bridge, the Paseo extension, graffiti removal, blah, blah, blah. Marty said himself that he couldn't take full responsibility - and that's probably the first absolutely honest quote we've read in a very long time. And one other thing... the mob gets things done too.

The fact is Marty had a lot of help from a lot of different elected officials. Moreover, how many of his legacy accomplishments would have been accomplished under another mayor? (Ok, maybe not Jim Baca.)

Marty's true legacy will be one of self-service and ever-increasing tyrannical behavior. Which brings us back to our new beginning.

If you'll remember, the Chavez campaign ran a whole slew of misleading commercials trying to portray Berry as less than honest. (Berry's new Chief of Police participated in a similar attack on Berry's character implying that he was somehow responsible for the crimes perpetrated against him.) The fact is the reason Marty was attacking Berry's honesty is because Mayor Berry is an honest man and as such he will honestly administer city government and we're all better for it.

Don't kid yourself... government is never pretty. Generally speaking, governments are made up of competing interests, beliefs, and agendas. Some feel that the ends justify the means and will do anything to advance their agenda. As a result, there will be bumps in the road and embarrassments for the new administration. The difference will be in how those bumps are handled by the mayor himself.

In October, the voters restored integrity to the mayor's office. We have high hopes for the future and for the new beginning that Mayor Berry brings with him.

Thank god that little troll Chavez has been booted out!

Hey Farty, all your friends are trying to get into the Berry Camp. It won't be long before they all leave you!

Why don't you just move out of this city you little turd! It will be interesting to see how you are without your power?

Anyhow, your finished in politics, it's over and out for you citizen Marty!

Anonymous said...

He may be honest, but he is not very bright! Just look at who his chief and deputy chiefs are. A year from now people will be wishing Chavez was back!!!

Hey “EYE” you talk about voters restoring integrity back to the mayors office that’s fine but what about the police department. We still have that lying piece of shit in the chief’s office. Ray Schultz is dishonest and has no integrity or balls. He will never do the right thing and stand up for his officers. A leopard can’t change its spots

I agree its over for marty farty! Yeah! Let's just see what we shall see about Berry, Darren and Schultz. We shall see if change is made, then decide how to vote in four years!

Anonymous said...

WOW! bold statement that we will wish Marty was back! Get that blogger some psychological help!

I concur with the last post. I pray that we do not regret voting for Berry. I hope he has a spine. With Chavez at least you always could expect a rude crude person, I wonder what Berry will show in a year. I hope we are not wishing Chavez were back. We shall see folks

I think the decision has been made on the vote in 4 years. IT WILL NOT BE FOR BERRY

Anonymous said...

Berry is more of the same! I voted for him but feel that I have made a huge mistake. As soon as he appointed Darren (who was helping Marty until the poll came out) I lost faith in him!

Anonymous said...

Marty, sorry about the door but I don't work for you any more!!!

Great just what we need is another wanna be fortune teller. Remember more voters voted for someone else than voted for Berry. Sounds like "Eye" is a mouthpiece for the Republiklans, already rationalizing some of his appointments. Shame on you, you're no different than those you cry about!

The Journal was a bit non PC this morning showing Paiz and Banks as part of the Mayor's diversity program.

DARREN DONT FORGET BARBOA UNTOUCHABLE MAKE HIM A DCOP OR ANYTHING INVOLVING BURNING INFORMANTS

Anonymous said...

I am so very glad Mayor Chavez and his corrupt ways are out!

I give it 6 months before Marty Chavez is popped for DWI now that he does not have his APD drivers to shuttle him from bar to bar. Especially now that he has NO power.

What a waste of taxpayer money that was!

Mark my words, 6 months for a DWI!

A Republican mouth piece? What oriface did that come out of? I appreciated the article - part of a new beginning - I know that The Eye will watch the record and take it where it leads ... follow the evidence. I'm hopeful for Berry (but I was hopeful for Obama too and have been disappointed). Campbell is a good pick and he knows who the boss is ... Darren is a different story - won't be able to keep his mouth shut and still thinks HE is the boss.

Good on you "Eye"

Berry has lost a lot of votes. he got rid of AFD Chief, and kept APD. He lept him on for one reason, so that ray could get his second retirement from the city. calloway is a parasite and will continue to bring the morale down. BErry, you messed up bad!

Any truth to the rumor that all contract raises are being placed on hold until the city can afford them. I heard it is either we put them on hold or cops and firemen are going to get laid off. Can anyone verify this?

How can anyones trust Mayor Berry when he just hired a couple of thugs. From what I've read on other blogs Ray and Darren are ruthless unless you kiss a**! I can hardly believe anything will get better when it is exactly the same. Good luck to the citizens of Albuquerque. The city should be broke by the time all the cover ups start to surface. I've read stories on these blogs/internet about an officer who they consider a person of interest in the death of his wife. If any of you officers know anything about that cop you should do the right thing and quit talking shit about the cop who told the truth!

Anonymous said...

Darren, Campbell, Schultz, others, others, others are all out of the barn now. Good luck reigning all that back. Wow! you become mayor and just let all the pigs in the house. People that have tried to tell you from the beginning about these people told the truth; but instead you put all of your capital in a few you THOUGHT were telling the truth. You bought into the lies. Now you'll have to live with these appointees for a long while. You will find out some day just how big a mistake your decisions were.

I agree with the 728pm post. Might that be LEVI CHAVEZ, anyone who would be willing to cover up something like that is beyond a piece of S*&( He needs to be in prison with the rest of the killers. Its to bad for those cops who really do have integrity I know a lot of them and there should be more of you!

Thank goodness the little tyrant is out! I wonder what he will do now that he can't bully anyone by threating their jobs!

Well Smarty Marty stuck his thumb in Los Ranchos eye one last time. On his last day he had the time to send city crews out to the Montaño Bridge and up the speed limit with new signs.

What a clown. Agreement w/Los Ranchos and the Army Corps of Engineers were violated by little Smarty Marty. One last cheap shot by Albuquerque's own Little Napolean.

Channel 4 news called him for comment. Smarty Marty said he couldn't talk as he 'was boarding a plane to go overseas.' What? Is he visiting his Swiss Bank Account? Better check the coffers, Mayor Berry. No telling how else Smarmy Marty spent his last day in City Hall. Sheesh

TJ used to get paid b the journal to write great PR stories for Ray Boy, now he works for him. We called that one about 2 years ago!!

Speaking of killers, why wasn't Rains charged with murder? It just says "child abuse w/great bodily harm. (Yeah, I know off topic, just thought you 34s would know why)

Anonymous said...

I thought the media said Child Abuse resulting in death?? hmmmm

Anonymous said...

With any luck, Marty Chavez will stay overseas and never come back to ABQ!

Anonymous said...

As a 34, there is more to the truh when it comes to WIFE killers within APD..... Monica Wereley's death should be investigated! Why would APD send the crew to the scene? COVER UP? Oh yeah brotherly support....NOT!

Anonymous said...

By the way EYE, when are you going to get Marty's photo off your site? He's not the mayor any longer in case you didn't know.

Anonymous said...

The Lord will now extract revenge for all that Marty has done wrong.

Here is what is scary. The Journal reported a 24 million dollar deficit, yet when Chavez was running he mentioned nothing of the 24 million dollar deficit. This sorta deficit took a while to accumulate and shouldn't have been
read as news that nobody knew. Chavez just didn't want negative news about a deficit hanging over him while he re-ran for Office.

Somebody, somewhere knew about that deficit way before hand. Wouldn't an Accountant do an audit to pen point any potential wrong doing in the Martin Chavez administration? Yes.

This is Paul J. HEH. I think everyone knows me and I hope you all know I will always stand up for what I believe is right. Having said that I must tell you the following. On Monday A.P.O.A BOARD MEMBER Dawne Roberto and I went to talk to Norman about the court overtime. We found out that Norman was not following the agreement that was announced at the Labor Board hearing. Things such as cutting over 93 officers out of the agreement and figuring the start time for court from 10am to 8:30 AM. THIS WOULD OF COST OFFICERS THOUSANDS AND ELIMINATED NEARLY 100 OFFICERS. Dawne and I went directly to the A.P.O.A. office and spoke to President Joey Sigula. As always I spoke my mind and let everyone know it ends here . This has been going on for a year and it has been one delay after another. I told Joey that it is past time to file in Federal Court and I would get that organized for All OFFICERS. Joey said lets talk to the Chief first. I agreed to give it one last try but made it clear this is the last try. A meeting was held with the Chief on Friday. No I was not invited but that is ok. After the meeting Dawne reported to me that Chief Schultz AGREED THAT ARGEEMENT MADE AT THE LABOR BOARD HEARING STOOD. THAT THE 93 OFFICERS LEFT OUT SHOULD BE AND WILL BE INCLUDED. I was schocked ! But when someone stands up and does the right thing, I will say good for you and thank you. So thank you Chief Schultz. Norman will compute Dawnes court time first. Myself and Dawne will check it to ensure the process is correct. Lets get this done, the officers paid and get this behind us. I urge all of you to go to D.A.L. and ensure you are on the list. This is money owed to you. Dont cheat yourself. PAUL J. HEH

The chief has a motive. Let's see, all the bad press, so he has to do something to reel everyone back in. Don't be fooled. He's only being cooperative because a little wind has been knocked out of his sail. To bad he doesn't sail off to somewhere else. Oh, I forgot, who would want him now that he has a civil rights violation on his record. I hear that is bad thing for a chief!!!

Good job chief...Good job joey

So once again Paul does the union's job for them!!

Anonymous said...

Can ayone tell me who the Mayor is?
This administration is packed full of Democrats. Who's in charge here? The Republicans came out and put a Repblican in office, so I thought.
Who's the Mayor?
will Mayor Campbell run for re-election in four years?

Anonymous said...

This is all some real spooky shit.
Does anyone really know what's going on?

Anonymous said...

Well of course if it involves YOU directly, you're all over it! How bout you do something for the dept that DOESNT affect you directly. Don't think so.....

Anonymous said...

Thank Paul for backing us grave 34's! You make us proud!

Anonymous said...

The Almighty's name is still on the city website as Mayor. When you click on his name, it brings up Berry. Get it together.

Question for Paul Heh: I'm not a 34I do work for the city & I need to go to my union to resolve an unfair employment issue that's going on in my department. The Union president told me I need to file a grievance. Shouldn't the union first discuss & try to resolve the issue with management at my department before I take the drastic step of fiing a grievance? Wondering.

Anonymous said...

What's with all the comments about spelling, grammar, etc. I'm pretty sure these blogs aren't being turned in for a grade. Stick to the issues. Are you cops so afraid of Chief Schultz that you won't go against him? Seems like Sam Costales just paved the way for you. Why put your jobs in jeopardy to protect less than honorable cops. Eventually, someone will record you watching another cop abuse a citizen and then the Chief will hang you out to dry because you are not one of his boys. Do a no confidence vote and get some decent leadership in there. Good luck sounds like you need it!!!

Anonymous said...

Knock it off about Schultz already! He's untouchable even more so than Barboa.

Anonymous said...

Sorry but we do work. Not like some who under this new mayor still do not do an honest days work!! Come on Mayor Berry LOOK into this crap....

Anonymous said...

Whos is the Chief this week, Ray or Darren?

Anonymous said...

If White says he is the chief what is Ray's job title?

Anonymous said...

Right now Ray has to be the suck up to Darren or he will be out. Funny how Darren just passed old Schultze up. Don't worry the jealously will start and they may just start spilling the beans on each other. In the end people will see them both for what they are.
