The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. A Tight One

With just over a week to go, it looks to be a photo finish for Susana Martinez and Allen Weh. In last week's Eye Poll Eye On Albuquerque readers gave their indication of exactly how close the Republican Gubernatorial Primary is going to be.

Sliding in on top of our unscientific poll is Susana Martinez with 44% of the vote. Now, before the Martinez folks break out the bubbly, Allen Weh came in second with 43%. The difference? Just one vote.

Doug Turner took 3rd place with 9% and Janice Arnold-Jones and Pete Domenici, Jr. rounded out the voting with 2% each (view the results here). Unless there's a substantial change between now and June 1st, it's going to be a very late night for at least a couple of Republicans.

Lost in all of the gubernatorial hoopla has been that other statewide office - Lieutenant Governor. You know, the office that Diane Denish held before becoming a Republicrat (see the TV ad here).

In any case, believe it or not we've got 8 candidates in two parties vying for the number two spot in the state. On the D side it's Brian Colon, Lawrence Rael, Jose Campos, Gerald Ortiz Y Pino, and Linda Lopez. On the R side, Brian Moore, Kent Cravens, and John Sanchez are asking for the R vote. Tell us what you think in this week's Eye Polls!

With Darren dedicating so much time to the Suzanna Martinez camp, how is he getting his Public Safety duties done? Seriously.
And by the way, once again "what's in it for Darren"?
Sorry; if she's playing political 'patty cake' with Darren, I'm voting for Weh.
Will the Fire Dept. and the PD, through their respective unions be mandated to vote for Martinez? Wake up guys and gals, it's not what Suzanna can do for YOU, it's what YOU can do for Darren.

The chairman of the State Republican party(Harvey Yates)had no business sticking his nose in this race.
Politics at it's worst. Coming down on one side against another in a primary stinks. Then again. look who's involved in HER race.

I am a Democrat and I voted early. I left one position blank to note my displeasure and to send a message that I am not a rubberstamp:Diane Denish

Diane says she is not 'one of the good old boys' and then turns around and invites the TOP DOG of the 'Good Old Boys Club" - Bill Clinton to her PRIVATE, $500 donation - closed to the press - fund raiser. Diane? Really?

More of the same old, same old.....

How come the three Tahoe's in the underground city garage that belong to Darren, Campbell and the mayor have civilian plates, not city government plates.
Really, is there a reason?
folks would like to know.
Anybody?

Cravens only claim to fame is shamelessly exploiting the Gordon House DWI homicides that happened to his brother. Tragic event but one someone with a conscience and some class wouldn't be so opportunistic about.

If Cravens had been focused on his own family rather than his political ambition perhaps his daughter wouldn't have been arrested for DWI.

Instead of talking to the cameras about the horrors of DWI that message could have and should been deivered at home.

It's called character and Cravens ain't got it.

Are we going down this road again. Seems as though every time there is a opportunity to seize, Darren is right there.
Should Suzanna Martinez win the Primary, she will then face Denish in the General. Guess that's the hope so Darren can be what; New Mexico Public Safety director again? Must pay more than the 'chump change' Berry is giving him ($125,000)
What then? The State Police union file another vote of 'No confidence' on Darren again?
Back to diving a cab or a pizza delivery truck until the next sap allows him to worm his way into the tax payer feeding trough.

I agree that Cravens is not the right person for the job.

The State of NM "motto" should be changed from "You drink, You drive, You lose" to "You Drive Drunk, You lose." (It really shouldn't be our State motto anyway)

This arresting people who are NOT really drunk is nothing but a Witch hunt!

While the awards for arrests , and meeting quotas are given to the uniformed followers, the tragedies resulting from the ACTUAL drunks remain the same. Change the focus back to controlling the intoxicated person who's blood alcohol content exceeds .15, then we might be getting somewhere.

Most of us don't like to be around a "REAL" drunk.

I saw something similar with the plates but it's the dark blue chevy impala that's always parked on the curb @ Marquette where the sign says "executive detail parking only" it had regular plates on it for a very long time. Gov plates probably aren't stockpiled like the regular ones maybe?

I have arrested hundreds of drunk drivers in twenty plus years of police work. I have also seen the death and damage that can be caused by someone with a BAC as low as .10 and .08. Its only a " witch hunt" until someone you know is hit by a drunk. Im curious how much experience you have with DWI,traffic enforcement or maybe you worked in the courts. Or maybe your just another blow hard who has no idea what you are talking about.

i ran those plates and they are a skip! that way when they speed through a green light camera there is no place to send the ticket!!!

Agreed !
Harvey Yates should have never made a public spectacle of this issue.
He should have picked up the phone and arranged meetings with both camps to discuss ground rules.
As I see it, this was made public in a big way to embarrass and discredit Allen Weh.
These kind of tactics expose the individuals behind the scenes in the Martinez camp as the ones who are REALLY the ones playing dirty.
White, McClesky & Company.

It appears that your 20+ years and the hundreds of alleged drunk drivers you have arrested are not the ones that have, unfortunately, caused part of the tragedies on our roads. The people you have arrested would probably never been in an auto accident their entire lives, even though you feel you are doing society a great favor. I think you have missed the point of safety and have also failed to arrest those who really NEED to be in jail. You should redirect your focus, and start looking for the REAL drunks (if that is your goal in life)! You owe me nothing, and I owe you the same.

REMEMBER ! A VOTE FOR SUZANNA MARTINEZ IS NOTHING MORE THAN A VOTE FOR SELF SERVING, SELF PROMOTING, "LOOK AT HOW COOL I AM"
FAT CAT, BUREAUCRAT, DARREN WHITE.

Chief of Staff, for New Mexico Governor Suzanna Martinez.

It's time for Darren to get off the government teet.

Comment above; you're exactly right. The Republican party has once again attempted to chose the candidate for you the voter by their sleezy tactics.

Shame on you Harvey Yates.
(The same Yates Oil company that made huge contributions to her campaign?)

I hope this low road attempt at derailing Allen Weh backfires on all of you. McClesky and Darren are always fixing the race. The only exception was Darren's run for Congress. Weak on character, weak on knowledge and weak on substance didn't fool the public.
Could'nt even come close to beating "girly man" Martin Heinrick. He's simply a made up appointment with no experience. Couldn't even win election at the cab company he worked for as garage ward boss. What a fraud, what an 'empty suit'.

SUZANNA MARTINEZ? WHO IS SHE REALLY?

NOT IN BERNALILLO COUNTY

THE TERM "POLITICS AS USUAL" IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

WITH DARREN WHITE AT THE HELM?

PLEASE PEOPLE; YOU'RE ALL SMARTER THAN THAT AREN'T YOU?

AT LEAST WITH COL.WEH YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING.
A LITTLE GRUFF? YES. BUT HONEST AND A NO NON SENSE FIX WE NEED IN SANTA FE.

That is too bad because Doug Turner kicked major ass in the debates the other night. I really like Doug Turner but I have to vote for someone who can beat Diane Denish. Don’t give up Doug you are young and you have great ideas. (I still dig Doug) but I have to vote for what’s best for New Mexico.

Name me one drunk that blow a .08 and who was involved in a fatality. Get Real and stop B.S.ing the public.

So the obvious answer is you have no experience in law enforcement or DWI. Other than you drink to much.
