The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. City, County and State Leaders Need to Take Lead

The Las Conchas Fire is setting a new state record as being the largest fire in New Mexico history; our leaders are doing little to prevent others. Closing off certain areas is a good preventative measure, as are requests to the public not to purchase fireworks. All leaders are making these requests but are offering little alternatives to a public, who are grateful for 235 years of freedom. The public has a right to celebrate Independents’ Day as proud Americans.

It seems that our leaders want us to make the sacrifice and do without because they want to be “penny-pinchers.” How come our leaders do not set up and provide several fireworks displays, at different locations, in different communities? Is it the cost? Stop “penny-pinching,” if there is another fire, the coffers will be quickly depleted in an effort to stop another fire. What the Eye is saying, an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

For example, if Mayor Berry set up fireworks displays in several areas around the City and advertised these events, there would be no need for the public to purchase or use fireworks. Yes, there is costs (ounce of prevention) involved but in comparison to a fire in the Bosque, which would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars (a ton of cure); the fireworks displays would be a small price to pay. The City could charge a small fee to help cover the cost and/or give out passes to attend the events.

Our leaders need to do more to prevent fires during the fire season. What they have done up to this point is insufficient. Cheap talk and acting like they are really doing something does not cut it for a public who is in tune with the real world.

Keep in mind, the Eye is not questioning the need to be safe and protect our land from fire. The Eye is questioning our lame leaders. The need to be proactive is clear but the rhetoric that our leaders speak about is just cheap talk.

The Eye encourages our audience to be safe and avoid situations that may be dangerous to them or to others. Make plans on attending public fireworks displays that are available to the public or park where you and your family may safely enjoy the celebration.

Common sense EYE. However Berry is deaf. All these so called leaders care about is keeping their job. These so called leaders have no idea about the realworld and the public they are suppose to serve. If there were fireworks displays you can be sure our so called leaders would charge for parking and entry. Forget the fact that our culeless leaders dont know folks are out of work and hurting.

If Berry actually cared about OPM (other peoples money), he would have fired Schultz after he cost the taxpayers $950,000 in the Costales Civil Rights suit.

Since December of 2011 APD (unders Schultz lack of leadership) has paid over $4,000,000 in just six civil suits!

Here is a list of these cases:

Roderick Jones $950,000
Tera Chavez $230,000
Kevin Lowery $495,000
Robert Gonzales $1,300,000
Michael Lee $950,000
Andrew Lopez $417,000

Go back to 2009 and you can add:

Sam Costales $950,000
Regensberg $685,000

There are many, many more settled cases since Ray took over in 2006. So how can Mayor Berry justify keeping Schultz? If this was Berry's money he would have fired him. Oh yeah, this is OPM! So where is the city council? They should be up in arms over the loss of millions and millions of dollars.

We need new leadership at APD! The taxpayer can't afford Ray anymore!

I'm trying to figure out the point of this post.

For instance, what, exactly, do you propose our leaders do to prevent fires? Bribe Mother Nature to rain? Give everyone a "stupid" test to see who's likely to drop a cigarette butt and lock them up during fire season?

Get real.

Ninety-nine percent of the time, you're for minimal government. A disaster breaks out that no one has control over and suddenly, you want the government to Do Something?

It is amazing to me that there are so many imbecils who equate "patriotism" to "fireworks". You can buy a dvd of fantastic fireworks displays from all around the world and sit there and watch it til you go into a coma.

Eye, how in the world did you find a way to blame the city councilors for the cause of the states' fires?! Is it just me, or are you really reaching for anything to blame on our leaders? What's next?!: 'Mayor Berry linked to JFK assasination!' 'All APD officers awarded Congressional Medal of Honor for killing Hitler!'

If Berry REALLY wanted to make a difference and keep people from using fireworks, he would make the display the city has planned free. That way no one would have to do their own, and everyone could afford to go.

I have been following the EYE for +/- 2 years. When I first started keeping up with it, I felt like it really was making comments and addressing issues that were important and needed addressing. In addition it seemed to be written by someone who had a gift for concise writing and grammar. Then, at a point some months ago, it seemed to go dormant for a period and then come flaming back with obviously new writers and a new style. What I read now is most obviously not written by the original commentator and is written by person(s) in serious need of remedial lower grade grammar, spelling and other communication issues. While I certainly agree that White and Schultz are two very painful boils on the asses of Albuq citizenry, and Berry makes Chavez look good, you guys have taken a very enlightening and promising blog and turned it into a petty pissing contest and express your thoughts and opinions in a format that should shame any HS graduate. I love the cops and firemen, I support the cops and firemen, I think they deserve every advantage in life that we can give them (take home cars, etc), but I no longer think you are doing your best to support them. You have narrowed your concentration and efforts (in my opinion only) to, as I said, a pissing contest with you against White/Schutz/Berry to the exclusion of any other topic worth addressing.

I will post this as "anonymous" because I have not the computer skills to do it any other way, but I am:

You people that are advocating for the "ban" of a regulated and legal industry such as the legal firework stands make me sick.

You idiots should do your homework before opening your mouth about legal fireworks.

Fire works were not the cause of the Los Alamos fire in 00', or 11', nor were they cause in Arizona, legal fireworks are the cause for less than 1% of all wildland or brush fires.

The politicans, and you a-holes who pushed and are pushing for this are a bunch of communist. You are asking the Government to take away an individuals rights to light or sell something in the name of public safety even though this industry is not responsible for the devastion.

GOOD! Let's "ban" alcohol, tobacco and guns in the name of public safety.... NO! Why not?

You've idiots are being lulled into the Gov., Mayor, and the Fire Chiefs fear mongoring, misinformation. Give up all your freedoms to the Government people they know how to make you safter in the name of public safety.

Remember Mayor Berry is the one who says "your vote in October on the fate of red light cameras is just a public survey on red light cameras." I'm so glad our esteemed Mayor has reduced the blood spilled and the lives lost of our men/women who fought for our rights to vote, and the results of votes be the final the final voice to "just a public survey."

Now Martinez, Berry, Breen want to have the final say on a legaly regulated industry.

I don't live in America anymore. I live in a fascist state with so called wanna be Republicans who are closet marxist.

Hey, Governor Martinez, Berry, and Breen while your banning a legal and regulated industry in the name of pulic safety, let me leave you with this...... Shouldn't these be banned to?

By John Fleck / Journal Staff Writer on Sat, Jul 2, 2011 Nature seems to have it out for poor Los Alamos National Laboratory. Earlier today a squirrel short-circuited an electrical transformer at the lab’s Neutron Science Center, setting off a one-acre fire that attentive crews quickly doused, according to a statement just issued by lab officials.

No word on the fate of the squirrel.

See ya' in Santa Fe next year at the special session. Fireworks don't start fires, STUPID people start fires.

p.s. Good thing the Supreme Court shot down public financing. With the Governor, Mayor, and their political appointee hack chief the firework industry is already commiting up to a million dollars towards candidates campaigns who will oppose this measure and those to run against you communists.

I love how, on the 'Fans of APD' website, they vote thier 'hero of the week' the officer that just shot someone...when the real heros...the firefighers!!! are risking their lives to save this state from burning down. Too bad guns can't put out fires APD!

Government employees, including APD officers live in a glass house. You are paid public servants and your actions reflect on the department as a whole. When citizens, like myself, observe things and report them then it seems we are labeled as ungrateful and/or cop-haters. Interesting.

I have been trying to help a homeless guy get his backpack back given its his suitcase with all his clothes and possessions. Sure the homeless guy does break the law and several months ago did his time in jail. During the arrest the APD arresting officer seized his backpack as evidence. Court, then jail and all is resolved but the APD officer, Adam Dehne of SE Heights command, won't release the backpack because he feels he's been harassed too much by the homeless guy and two citizens trying to assist in getting it released. Homeless guy has even been threatened with additional charges (assault on an officer) if he keeps pursuing release of his backpack. Homeless guy told me today he's given up on it. Way to go Officer Dehne, your actions reflect on APD and reinforce its negative image. You keep the backpack and "image" that goes with beating up on the homeless.

It's "Independence", moron. Not only are you boring, you're boring AND illiterate.

No wonder White and Schultz aren't worried about you anymore.

July 3, 1:40 AM....Not to state the obvious, but it is called the FANS OF APD...not the FANS OF AFD. Although AFD does deserve to be recognized and praised for what they do for our city, the APD page isn't going to be the proper forum for that. Just because firefighters risk their lives in one way, why does that mean cops shouldn't get recognition? Both are equally important and do completely different jobs.
Instead of bitching, why don't you create your own page to recognize the firefighters instead of complaining about someone else not doing it? I realize it might take some effort on your part, but it may keep you from being so upset. Also, bitching doesn't put out fires or save people from getting stabbed...just sayin'

So I hear that fire works did cause a brush fire last night, 3 of them to be exact.

What's that? It wasn't some idiot with legal or illegal fireworks that did this. Who was it?

THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE that's who!

I wonder if Mayor Berry, White, and the fire chief are going to cite themselves for starting multiple brush fires?

The 3 Stooges should be held accountable in the same fashion they willing to hold others accountable if their fire works were to cause a fire.

They are nothing but jack booted thugs, all of em'.

Fires = Berrys Administration?
Really? Have you looked at fires in Colorado? Why not blame Berry and White and Shultz for those fires also?
What- was Berry on vacation up in Colorado flicking Cigarettes out the windows up there? Come on MAN.

I think July 1, 2011 11:50:00 AM MDT hit it on the head!
Less government is better.

Less spending, less taxes right?
We want our cake and eat it too, so either government gets out of our way or we pay out our nose.

Me? I am fine with paying for police and fire here in the metro. We live in a dangerous place, and I sleep good at night. Thanks to APD and AFD.

BORING!

To July 6, 2011 @ 11:25:00 pm MDT:

So pointing out the COAs hypocritical position with regards to fire works/brush fires, and their advocating for a "ban" on a legal, permitted and regulated industry (fireworks) is in your words "boring"?

I don't find their position of banning something "boring". I find it intrusive, un-american, and not in the spirit of free-market capitalism.

Further more, if I was to point out another position of the Berry Adiminstration that is an absolute idiotic stance, and is a slap in the face of every man/women past and present who's ever put on a military uniform, would that be "boring" to you to?

Let's take a look at this idiotic un-american statement by the Berry Administration shall we?

Quote from the Berry Administration: "the red-light camera vote, in October is merely a survey."

I'm sorry I did not know that when I went to the voting booth to execute one of my constitutionaly protected right (amendment XXVI section 1.) that they wanted my vote for a survey/opinion. The ballot box is the voice of the people, and the results are final, even if that means you don't like the final result(s).

Far too many people don't vote as it is, and now you want to reduce the votes of those that do vote to "survey/opinion" votes, so you can merely disregard the final result and force your agenda, bond issues, taxes, unconstitutional red light camera program, continuance of favorable contracts to private companies doing business with the City of Albuquerque, onto the people?

NO THANKS! They do that in places like Venezuela, Iran, and China, not Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was to made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."- Daniel Webster

See ya' at the voting booth!
