The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. There is a Threat in the Breenze…

Our Eyes are telling us Fire Chief Breen has been riding the wind around town.  Apparently, Breen has been going to the different fire stations around the City threatening the rank and file.  Breen has told the fire guys and gals if their Union does not do what they are told; they will pay for it.

Breen has told the fire guys and ladies their hours and shifts will be changed if the Union does not comply with Berry’s desires.  Currently, the Fire Department field personnel work two days on with four days off.  Breen threatened the field personnel he would make them pay if the Union did not succumb to what Berry wants, by placing the field personnel on a one day on and two day off schedule.  One of our Eyes told us Deputy Chief Dave Downy also went to a fire station and echoed the same threats as Breen.
Yes, politics is politics but now because Berry’s bullish mentality, the public will pay the final price.  Fire fighters have hundreds of unused compensation hours, vacation and sick leave that they have not used.  Why; because of understaffing.  They cannot take off and come in sick to ensure there are personnel on duty.  This threat from Berry will lead to people taking more leave which will lead to understaffing at the fire stations; thus, there will not be enough personnel to respond to emergencies.  In addition to threatening personnel at the fire stations we are hearing from our Eyes inside the Fire Department Administration that marching orders are coming down from Perry and Berry to start writing up the fire guys and gals for everything and anything.
This is not a coincidence; Perry was out vocally threatening fire fighters and other City employees who were peacefully holding up signs for their mayoral candidate during the mayoral race. Perry made statements to the effect, “I can’t wait till this shit is over tomorrow; you people will pay for this!” And to answer your question, yes documentation does exist about this incident.
Let’s not kid ourselves; Berry and Perry know exactly what they are doing and have things planned and mapped out. Look at the facts, Berry spent $900,000.00 to win election for a job that will only pay $400,000.00 over four years.  Berry is reelected and gives the check book to Perry, which resulted in a whopping $30,000.00 per year pay increase for Perry.  This places Perry at $180,000.00 a year.
Speaking of worthless leaders, our local APS Superintendent, Winston Brooks (who sent nasty and hateful tweets to the New Mexico  Secretary of Education) makes close to $300,000.00 per year for what? Being an 80 year old child sending inappropriate messages to women? A failing school system?  An astronomical dropout rate?  A failed graduation rate?  Not to worry, Brooks received a three day suspension for his foul tweets.  But keep in mind, three days’ pay comes out to around $3,000.00. That comes out to 1% of Brooks $300,000.00 a year salary.  If you did the same thing; you would be looking for another job.
The message is clear; our leaders such as Berry, Perry, Breen and Brooks believe bulling is acceptable and there are no consequences for their actions and they get paid big bucks to abuse people…

The "one day on two day off" policy strategy is nothing more than an effort to destroy AFD morale, get people to retire early, reduce the size of AFD and break the union among the rank an file for not being effective in stopping its implementation. Breen is now going around telling people that Berry has asked him to stay on as Chief and no doubt Downey also wants to be Chief if Breen leaves in December, hence both are promoting the Perry/Berry program. Perry is nothing more than thug Darren White with a law degree.

Did every one see how Ken Sanchez complemented Allen Banks on the fine job he is doing as Chief and said he should be made permanent and condemning Perry's raise but not doing anything to prevent it? Grandstanding at its finest.
As has been the case for so many years, Sanchez is again telling everyone how he is running for Mayor when he should just go away.

It amazes me how the citizens of ABQ will allow such low life's in office such as Berry, Perry and their ilk. Take a step back citizens of Albuquerque, get out of the forest and take a good look at the seeds you've sown.

But is it really one day on and two days off, or is it actually twenty-four hours on before a break? And if so, burn that sick-vac-comp, and burn it good. Put that patsy breen in check. If your own personal physician doesn't sign off for your leave let me refer you to mine. These berry-bitches think they can get away with anything. NOT...

Be careful what you wish for. Years ago AFD had 3-man Rescues and 4-man Ladders. A new Fire Chief came in from outside the department and changed all of that. We would be lucky to have DC Downey as the new Fire Chief. Remember, the public does not care what schedule that we work as long as we respond to calls for service. Shame on any firefighter who comprimise public safety by not coming into work because of a new schedule. We all took an oath and swore to protect those we serve. Some of us have forgotten this and continue to focus on the bad things that they have no control over. I ask those that are reading this to remember why you wanted to be a firefighter and continue to work as one. We have an incredible department with outstanding members who are not recognized enough for the incredible work that they do. However, how many of us got into this line of work for the recognition?

Regarding Brooks' outrageous salary; he is only accepting what people are foolish enough to offer him. Would that be unexpected? And "corrective action" for his latest slide back into grade school: a three day suspension and a letter of reprimand in his file? He probably cannot stop laughing! Three days in a row off and a letter that might be detrimental if he should decide to give up his $300,000/year and apply for a different job somewhere else at 80years old. Way to go, school board! That would definitely scare the hell out of me!

Shut the hell up, you can disguise yourself as Breen's ass kisser, but you still sound the same because you done even attempt to change your wording, when you try that 'public safety' propaganda. There will be no AFD or APD, if the City Gov't doesn't change.

Hey Eye, and Eyes, I think we can all agree that agree or disagree with the Eye, there is a constant flood of information that comes from this site that always scoops the media but always appears days later on the news or in the paper. That being said, let's please put this geezer in his place:

From Jim Baca:

"I think if it weren't for the bloggers the Albuquerque Journal and its skeleton staff would have no sources. Rodger Beimer's Blog, Joe Monahan's Blog and mine seem to be feeding news stories on a regular basis the to emaciated daily rag."

Give me a friggn break. I read this fools blog and he even forgot who he ran against when he became mayor....

Come on FFs get your facts straight then complain or file a grievance against Breen....don't act all pee-pee hearted or butt-hurt. He cannot under the fair Labor Standards act(flsa) threaten, coerce or intimidate union members into compliance of what Berry wants by threatening you with less hours, or whatever he says.
You all know better...file a grievance with your union.
Heck I file grievances all the time and I get what I deserve..the entire city administration of every department is out to see who folds...stand up to them..they can't fire you or retaliate against you...they're playing a game, a mind game...fuck them! Stand up to them..you'll get a lot more visits from Breen..He's blowing smoke and it's us against them for 4 more years!!! We can win this but don't get all whiney about it! Stand up to Breen, Perry and Berry!!

STFU!
Wake up and smell the coffee like everyone else. No firefighters are buying your "Jim Breen" rhetoric anymore.

Here's a few flaws in your scripted bullshit:

Downey can't keep his temper tantrums in check long enough to be Chief, nor can he gain trust and respect while trying to poison our minds into believing the union board is at fault.

Shame on you for negating the very fundamentals of which labor organizations have fought to provide you and your family the opportunity to prosper financially and securely. We know who you are and that you wouldn't turn down any of it.

Berry and Perry took oaths as well and neither has lived up to it yet, so don't tell us to do so, hypocrite.

The public may not care what our schedule is, but we do! Keep in mind, a change for the employee is a change for wives and children as well. You are flirting with a revolt that will cause a financial meltdown for AFD. Plenty of employees will gladly take the overtime to respond to calls for service. Careful what you wish for.

Bad things happen because those in control did not take control. i.e. Admin.

People become firefighters for an exciting career, pension, decent wage, and benefit package. Not to be ridiculed, stepped on, or slapped in the face from those who do not know how to lead. We know, through your actions in your career, why you are here as well.

Since you know how under-recognized we are, maybe you should redirect your efforts and stand up for the troops instead. The public and politicians may play a different tune if the "appointed" leadership showed some balls by standing up to the puppet masters.

So far, it has only been labor officials that stand up for what is right. Hell, even the union is doing what the Chief is supposed to do, like increase funding, grow the department, add trucks and personnel, etc. The union officials have gained more respect and following than this administration ever will. Truth is, the union president knows more about running the department than the current chiefs combined. Why do think he is such a threat to Berry, Perry, and others? Knowledge is power. The stupid resort to removing that power to gain power. The smart use that power as an asset.

So quit sucking Downey's dick and posting while on the job. The citizens want you to get back to work.

OK Ass Kisser, we know how much you're making a year, as much as Perry. Sure things are great for admin, raking in the big bucks and taking it from the backs of the rank and file. All of that makes it easy for you to say that shit. Keep kissing ass you'll never be the Chief and the Karma train will be coming to pick you up.

Winnie's got a 3 day vacation (oops suspension). Instead of watching Maury Povitch or Oprah he had a domestic violence incident, Apparently his wife who lives in another state and didn't have a house key (wow this guy has it all figured out)broke a window to get in their home. Winston Brooks dialed 911 (at least he knows his numbers even if APS students do not). He admitted to pushing and shoving his wife for accusing him of having an affair (what a player, he looks so mousy. Mysteriously, the domestic incident was changed to a health incident. This little change means the Super gets to keep his million dollar pension. So not only does he denigrate women on twitter, we now know he also beats them.

@8:25 That is something else the media here would ignore. It makes me sick that there's a different set of laws. One for the haves and one for the have nots! Grrrrrrr...

7:26 AM,

You are correct. That IS the Republican way.....

Anonymous said...

Sir, there is a different set of EVERYTHING based on who you are in the city of Kunts.

Anonymous said...

DOJ, PLEASE PLEASE look into why Rob Perry merits 22% raise, when rank and file officers, firefighters, librarians, senior citizen meals deliver personnel can't even get a 1% raise. And the kicker is once you're hired by the City you are automatically protected by the Union, whether you want it or not! So the mayor comes out with emails telling us all that non-union personnel got another pay raise! He rubs our noses in it, knowingly that we don't have a choice in the matter! He's unbalanced in the head.

To 11:46,

#1 Breen sucks and is in denial. Tell me why he is now sucking up to the union.

#2 Why does the city councilors, fuck with him at every meeting? They already know he is going to turn down every cent that is spoon fed to him, but they try to force him to admit that he is so far up Berry's ass, that he can't get out.

#3 Four years later;
-Only one ALS engine, and that was only to try and thwart R2.
-Wanting to split up the paramedics. Fucking retarded.
-Target Solutions to read the same memos that are on e-mail and just wastes employees time. Still doesn't work right and no one has learned damn thing important. Everyone knows how to BS a bunch of hours though.
-Mutual aid that still doesn't work. Just ask the dispatchers.
-Giving back countless dollars from each year's fiscal budget instead of using it.
-Super secret telestaff.
-Trucks that are falling apart.
-Stations with no supplies and no repairs being made.
-Losing station 29 and its' personnel, only to be somewhat saved by the union forcing L17 and R19.
-Professional development that has been a flop and a joke.
-Stations 2 and 7 with no additional trucks or staffing. At least until the union does all the work like was done for R2, while Breen tries every opportunity to turn it down.
-Stations 2 and 7 rebuilt with just as many problems as the old stations.
-Engine 317 monster truck for AFD hotshots. Fucking unreal.
-Following a Matrix report that will only destroy AFD long term.
-Allowing union busting tactics when he, himself, not only benefits from the union, but was on the board. Fucking hypocrite.
-Preferential treatment to employees that suck up to him. Could include a relative here as well.
-Forcing employees to get cert training on thier own time, until the union did HIS job and acquired funding from council to pay them.
- Endorsing PERA's plan which screws us and retirees, thus contributing to the attrition problem that Breen has finally acknowledged.
-Throwing our own brothers under the bus countless times. First of all, remember the Darren White fiasco which led to a no-confidence vote? Remember the more qualified BC's and Captains passed over for promotion to Deputy?
-Allowing a conflict of interest to exist between personnel and professional development courses.
-Allowing Watson to fuck up HR and send to the media numerous personnel records and private disciplinary issues, thus helping the media shed AFD in a bad light, in the name of Berry.
-Etc., Etc., Etc.

#4 Keeping Santistevan

#5 Promoting Tige, Nate, and Curtis to Deputy.

#6 Losing all touch/communication with the field personnel. No one sees him or the deputies except when they have some political agenda to force on the firefighters.

Shall I go on, or do you get the idea here?

Good for the department, my ass!

Anonymous said...

Well maybe Downey will be better!?!? He's not like breen?!?!

Anonymous said...

I would endorse Downey if;
1) he worked on getting the disgruntled personality in check.
2) he dropped all the bullshit busy-work crap and dismantling of AFD.
3) he worked with the union on issues.
4) he listened and applied firefighters concerns.
5) he promoted those that would actually be leaders as Deputies.

Of course, none of this will happen since Berry will be pulling his strings.

Like I said before, the change has to start with Berry. If it doesn't, anyone placed as fire chief will suck.

Unfortunately, the better individuals for chief have already retired due to Breen passing them over for Deputy. Breen forced out some really good leaders.

What we need is someone to stand up to Berry and willing to be let go. We all know Berry wouldn't do it to save face in the public eye, except Breen of course. Why do think he would never get rid of the police chief? He doesn't want that kind of ridicule. It tarnishes his "nice guy" image.

Anonymous said...

@7:29 You had your chance in October when you lost the election. What a joke of an effort from afd personnel! Why does anybody need your endorsement anyway?

1:07,

You must be one of the shitbag chiefs that has ruined APD, demands respect instead of earning it, never had any integrity to begin with, and kiss any filthy hairy ass for personal gain.
Do what you have to do to pass on your extra pay to an ex who blows somebody different when you die.
You will be forgotten anyway.

@1:07 That's what I thought!!!!

11:48,

Ya right! What shitty place did the union put us in?
The union just won the appeal on contract violations and city hall is scrambling to have department heads plea for employees to accept 1% for a contract. And in the process, take away union time, 75/25 PERA contributions, longevity, and due process rights. Fuck you! You are the fool who wants to give this stuff up.
Tell you what, when the union gets the 2.5% back and the last portion of the contract, I better not see or hear you wanting any of it. Better turn it down, bitch! The union hasn't messed up. The administration messed up.
Breen, along with a few others, has been two-faced for four years. Telling the firefighters some made-up bullshit to justify his actions and then kiss Berry's ass while screwing those firefighters and this department.
Maybe we should give him a trophy for winning a no-confidence vote.
Maybe you mother fuckers should have thought harder and had some integrity before siding with Berry and Perry. This department is run by fools.
Breen will leave and someone else will become the fool. Is that fool you? If so, stand by, the union will prove it.

Anonymous said...

@8:47 Wow you really think your union has a chance. Your faith in the union is dumbfounding. You have as much of a chance of prevailing as you had in the election....ZILCH. Dream on. You have no idea what your up against. When Breen leaves you guys will be up shit creek!

Anonymous said...

When did this turn into war? I have only seen it as a game. The city has done a great job at breaking union contracts and dragging out court cases. The union has done a great job at winning appeals. How long do we want to drag this out. We are getting very close to stalemate...or impasse. Both sides know this. Who is willing to risk it all for a victory? I see a compromise on the horizon.

Anonymous said...

Berry started the war. He was offered alternatives and compromises years ago by unions to help him achieve his goals, yet he said no. So why should we give in now?
Personally, I am willing to risk it for victory. Unlike the pussies in this world, I believe in fighting for what I believe in. The City will eventually declare impasse. Berry's future is riding on it. Councilors will force it.

Anonymous said...

I think you give Berry way too much credit! He did not start a war, he merely contined the party agenda. The man does not have an original thought in his head...neither does Breen for that matter. They have played well, but so has labor. I think they put way too much stock in the fact that the economy tanked. They played their hand as if things would never rebound. They tugged on the heart strings of every private sector employee in the nation to break unions. It's a short term strategy in a long term game. Meanwhile APOA and IAFF have the upper hand in court. The tea party implants have self destructed. City council has flipped. And Berry has bigger aspirations and will choose not to continue fighting labor for the rest of his second term. Like I said, compromise is on the horizon. It was only a game... And the only loser has been the tax paying public. Berry and Breen...not even players in the game...just pawns.

Now the beat down! Sorry AFD.
