The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Before the U.S. Department of Justice, the "Leaders" of Albuquerque Speak....

UPDATE!!!

"However, the recent remarks by the police chief in response to the James Boyd shooting on March 16, 2014, demonstrate that more work is needed to change the culture of APD."--DOJ Report

"The pattern or practice of excessive force stems from systemic deficiencies in oversight, training, and policy."--DOJ Report

"APD has failed to abide by these fundamental policing values. We find this failure evident in the following systemic deficiencies: (1) a broken system of internal accountability; (2) inadequate training on use of force, community policing, and constitutional policing; (3) policy deficiencies; (4) an aggressive culture that undervalues civilian safety and discounts the importance of crisis intervention; and (5) insufficient leadership on tactical operations, community policing, and the importance of accountability to external oversight."--DOJ Report

"The most significant deficiency we observed in the department’s training programs is the over-emphasis on using force, especially weapons, to resolve stressful encounters, and insufficient emphasis on de-escalation techniques."--DOJ Report

"The SWAT commander had not received adequate training and appeared to lack the experience to direct a disciplined and effective SWAT unit"--DOJ Report

IN OTHER WORDS, APD'S LEADERSHIP HAS FAILED ITS OFFICERS

"Most likely the DOJ will find that APD has its house in order."--Ray Schultz, 11/27/12

"Our officers are of the highest quality, and receive excellent training."--Ray Schultz, 11/28/12

"We’ve never sat back and waited to be ordered to do something"--Ray Schultz, 9/12/12

“[Regarding DOJ] it is unnecessary in my view to produce additional requests in this regard.”People in Albuquerque, statistically, are as safe as they’ve been in 21 years,” Berry said. “I see a department doing a lot of great work.”--Richard Berry, 8/18/11

"For them to sit there and judge me or the department is wrong until (DOJ investigators) come down with findings."--Allen Banks, 12/28/13

"Everyone with this department wants to do a great job, and we’re all going to press forward to try and continue to make this community proud of us" Allen Banks, 8/4/13

"In law enforcement you’ve got young, good-looking folks that do this job. That’s our target group of employees – 20-, 30-, 40-year-old men and women. We ask them to stay in good shape. There’s nature at play."--Ray Schultz, 7/25/13

"It is apparent that these four councilors have lost their confidence in one of the finest police departments in America."--Richard Berry, 8/13/12

"They were justified."--Gordon Eden, 3/21/14

ANY QUESTIONS?

All of you. Every last one of you corrupt liars bought the real estate and you are going to answer for it. Nature at play is going to unfold like you have never seen or thought could possibly happen. Enjoy the ride because it is going to be long and hard. It is called the shit storm and it is coming. Even the ones that thought they escaped will be dragged back into the fray kicking and screaming to answer for their indiscretions and intentional crimes.

Yeah, I've heard this song before.

"Hey guys, it's happening! The mighty DOJ is going to drop the hammer!"

Please! All anyone has to do is take a look at history and they'll see that nothing is going to happen to anyone.

Perry, Berry, Schultz, Banks, all of them are just going to sleep like babies on piles of money tonight. Meanwhile, APD will continue to harass, murder, threaten, and intimidate every ABQ citizen they come across, because their masters know that it keeps us all too busy to notice what THEY are up to.

If it's not in the best interest of the city administration, I guarantee APD isn't changing a damn thing.

APD is worse than ever, and that's even with the DOJ in town.

And do spare me the bullshit about "it's only a few bad apples." Maybe when people go into APD, they intend on doing the right thing. They sure as hell don't come out the other side with that mindset.

Whistle blower law suit, retaliation, cheating scandal, missing guns and cover ups? It appears Albuquerque's Police Chief Gordon Eden has an ethics issue! And his punishment is right out of the GOP's good old boys club; a $158, 000 salary compliments of the tax payer.

Susanna Boo Boo knew the heat was coming down. She must of realized its an election year. Oh my, I need to get rid of Eden. Time to call Berry Boo Boo who the party put in office. Berry needs to take him in before they story breaks. It appears Albuquerque's Police Chief Gordon Eden timing was just right. And the public will never realize what is going on?

The DOJ has confirmed that APD is a gang of thugs who do not protect and serve the people who feed them and their families. The DOJ has also confirmed that the issues are "systemic" which concludes: APD was NEVER an honorable "top" law enforcement agency in the US. APD is a gang of cowards who will now have to ask the DOJ for permission to shit and piss while on duty. More importantly, this solidifies to the community and political leaders, that LEO's WILL BE and SHOULD BE accountable to the people they are sworn to serve! You will soon be answering to US, The Citizens of Albuquerque! Deep down that is a hard pill to swallow isn't it APD/APOA?

Very disappointed to see that there will not be a takeover of the dept and that DOJ is relying on cooperation from the city. Not thrilled to see DOJ, at least publicly, stating they actually believe the mayor and police chief saying they want to work together and change.

A couple questions at the press conference asking what assurance there would be that changes would be made and the only answer was that there would be DOJ monitors. My quick glance at the report seems to indicate DOJ can still file lawsuit against the city if changes aren't implemented but would have liked to see that mentioned at the press conference to alleviate some of the community concerns about enforceability of DOJ recommendations.

There still can be a take over, early stages and accountability. I do believe ALL DCOP's will be replaced SOON. They are all part of the problem.
Who is the SWAT Commander they were hammering? Medina?? Is he back being a commander?

Berry is the problem and the majority of the public does not get it.

It took a long time but finally looks like the good ol boy system and Schultz is out of a job forever. I know you read this site Schultz bet you feel defeated hu. Take your looser ass and all of the people that you tried to tear down that would not go along with your ways. Thinking you were god, hu,, how is that working for you now.

Mayor Berry - I don't know if you read this blog but just in case... First, your response to the DOJ report was pure, unadulterated BS. You say that we don't want to play the blame game, and I agree that getting bogged down in finding who's to blame, we often fail to fix the problem, however, taking responsibility is part of moving forward. Suck it up, be a man and take responsibility for your role in this mess.

Anonymous said...

Bye bye APD swat, about damn time. Team leader bullshit won't work here. It's the Sergeants fault, period.

I agree, the buck stops with Berry and Perry! they're to blame for this entire mess, not Chavez!

We have a great department with great officers who have worked hard to protect and serve the citizens of Albuquerque and will continue to do so on a daily basis.

The Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association is prepared to Work with our community in incorporating the recommendations by the DOJ. We appreciate the changes that the DOJ has recommended and recognize that change is hard for everyone. It takes time to heal the pain in the Communities’ hearts and minds.

Our department looks forward to learning and advancing from the DOJ’s guidance and additional training to make us a better department in the future. We are glad to see that federal funding will be used to assist our lack of services for the mentally ill in this city. We will benefit from any additional training. We look forward to working with the city and community in making this a great city to live in once again and restoring the communities’ faith back in our department.

We as an association are committed to assisting all of our officers’ in this dept. in addressing issues of concern that have been raised and helping them move forward in a positive fashion that is fair to all.

Thank you,

In the letter from DOJ to WoodHead I noted in the 1st paragraph that THIS investigation was concerning only the CIVIL issues and did not include any FBI investigation regarding criminal matters. Hmmmm..by that do they mean Keith Sandy's use of force in the Boyd shooting? Or is there something else that red-flagged the DOJ? The one glaring message that slaps you right in face when reading this letter is that the DOJ hammers those individuals high up on the chain of command as being responsible for this mess. And I agree with the person earlier on who said that the DOJ could still take over. Where does this leave Huntsman? He is for certain a para-military type...just the thing the DOJ does NOT want training our officers. The aftermath of the DOJ will be more than interesting...
Stay tuned as heads roll and retirements increase 2-fold!

YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE TASER SALESMAN!! The posters here all along (myself included), told Berry he shouldn't have kept Schultz the Nazi Taser Salesman. Bye Bye Berry...your recall ticket is going to be punched!!

Anonymous said...

News stations, 7, 13 and 4, Journal, as well as national news, take note!!!

So let me get this correct, Commander Huntsman who spent all his career in SWAT and Bombs and taught all those cadets the Use of Force for APD all those years is now in charge of reversing everything he and his SWAT team taught at the police academy!

Sounds like the Mayor Berry, Mayor Perry and Chief Eden put the fox back in the hen house.

That would make a very interesting news story!

Anonymous said...

The DOJ mentions Tasers and Schultz ends up working for Taser after leaving. Who would of thought that would happen?

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Berry will ever apologize for having "full confidence" in Schultz. The mayors office won't even admit that Berry hired Schultz.

Anonymous said...

If the DOJ actually believes they will get cooperation from Berry, the man who fiddled while rotten apples in the APD burned Albuquerque citizens to the ground, they are living a fool's dream. Berry is the root of the problem. He keeps hiring the same shit to lead the department. He kept Schultz, then hired Eden, and now this new dickless DC? The only people who can clean up this situation with APD are the voters of Albuquerque. RECALL BERRY! Berry will lie to his own mother to keep himself in power and he will certainly lie to the feds. Schultz is a piece of human feces that needs to be wiped from the planet's buttocks. See, DOJ really didn't do anything but state the obvious! Let's seem some of those 34s involved in the highlighted shootings get arrested...then maybe, just maybe, I believe something will change. RECALL BERRY! Albuquerque needs a chance to awaken from this Berry induced nightmare.

Anonymous said...

All you 34s walking around saying we have had good shoots and all the supervisors saying nothing is wrong here guess you can SUCK IT. Guess you aren't as smart as the DOJ attorneys. We should stick to police work and no cops don't know everything. Any Schultz sightings?

Anonymous said...

Watching Berry’s press conference…

Of course you want the citizens to move forward and ignore history so you can squeak by on avoiding being accountable for your pathetic leadership.

Apparently you have no clue that you forgot to put your clothes on before you left your home. Your fake sincerity today is grossly inconsistent with your past actions. This should have never gotten to this point and YOU never did anything about it until you had a higher authority step in. YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THE CITIZENS OF ALBUQUERQUE FOR YOUR PAST AND FUTURE ACTIONS! YOU WORK FOR US!

Here's your first test. You can start with a very simple question. Where were you for those 8 days that we paid for? How you respond to that question will reveal the truth regarding your intentions about the future to change your ways.

Can someone please get me a barf bag? He is pathological if he really believes what he is saying.

Wise citizens see your nakedness.

There has been a lot going on lately. It seems like the only news on any media channel is APD. I hope everyone realizes as hard as it is to hear the DOJ's findings, the fact is that we did not get a consent decree or monitor mandated. We know there will be more changes to come and it has been a hard year for everyone. Here is a copy of the press release that was sent out to all the media stations. More information will be made available to members after The APOA Executive board meets with the DOJ.

4/10@3:16-This is NOT over- rather, it's just beginning..the Feds can do what they want, when they want and more important, why they want. If they think they're getting jerked around, they'll just file a mandated order or pull out a consent decree. They're giving APD/COA a chance..if they get even a whiff of non-compliance things will quickly turn on the Berry Gang.

Anonymous said...

Tasers...Hmmmm how bout Gonterman gets his ear burned off??

I cant believe these gutless reporters not asking any real questions. All berry said was craft, move forward, continue to work hard. or was it work hard and craft , then move forward. Berrys the worst excuse for a mayor this dump of a city has ever had.

Anonymous said...

Where was Berry?

Where is the lapel camera footage from the most recent shootings?

Why is Gov Martinez blocking FOI requests regarding her travel and the expenses of police officers who travel with her?

Why such a toothless statement from DOJ? Are we waiting for the other shoe to drop (criminal charges) or is the current establishment getting a pass? Seems strange given the fact that directly in the report the the leadership has not implemented any changes recommended in their own studies that they paid for in the past.

All I see is a bunch of obfuscation and lies. We need to demand immediate answers and begin filing FOI requests for answers to these questions as well as the full details of this study to see everything that is still being held back from the public.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't sound to me like anyone's on the hook. At all.

It seems all the DOJ has done is point out what we've all known for years.

It's much the same as one of the commenters above taking 2 years to point out that APD sergeants are hands down the shittiest, most worthless cops ever. I mean, yeah, that's true, but merely stating that doesn't do anything to change the facts.

Anonymous said...

You IDIIOTS (at 3:16)! This IS the beginning of the consent decree. You don't even know what you're dealing with. You will be consenting to change how you do things, if not, a federal judge will force you. Quit steering people the wrong way. This idiocy and lack of knowledge is the very reason why 34's will now be prosecuted. Wake up.

Anonymous said...

THERE IS NO CONSENT DECREE, NO FORMAL ORDER FROM THE COURTS, IT IS ALL VOLUNTARY. THE MONITOR IS JUST THAT, A MONITOR WHO HAS NO REAL POWER TO ENFORCE ANYTHING. IF APD DOES NOT IMPLEMENT THE REFORM RECOMMENDED, THE DOJ WILL SUE APD! THE CRIMINAL CASE ON THE FOOTHILLS SHOOTING WILL COME DOWN LATER, BUT I BELIEVE THE OFFICERS WILL BE INDICTED. BOYD WAS KILLED WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION. SAD DAY FOR APD, NOW LETS SEE HOW THE ACADEMY SITUATION IS HANDLED GIVEN THE WHISTLE BLOWER AT THE STATE, WHO WILL BLOW THE WHISTLE AT APD???

APOA President Lopez believed the new deputy chief should have been someone within the department? Is she smoking crack. With the likes of Camacho, Rowe, Medina, Brown, Mark Garcia, Gabe Marez. It's bad enough that the three DC's up there now are worthless give us all a friggen break. Wonder who her choice was... DOJ needs to clean house...

Anonymous said...

Yes, clean house. Equally as culpable: Berry, Perry, Bradenberg, Shults, Eden, IRO, commanders, sgts, etc. And every officer that has been found using force and violating a citizen's rights, should be referred to the criminal division for prosecution. Each one. If there's going to be trust in accountability, it starts now by prosecuting the APD officers who have violated the law.

THE TREMENDOUS REGULATOR said...

Hopefully the DOJ reviews the past, along with the personnel files of, and speaks with employees about the commanders who are in place within APD from commander on up to the chief. Hopefully then they recommend removing all of the unfit ones. Burning people's ears off with tazers, sex in stairwells of public buildings, sexual harassment of employees by taking photos of their breasts and buttocks with cell phones, being a gutless, order taking, ops review yes man under Ray Schultz, who anonymously complains about officers parking in front of the main, but fails to report official corruption at high levels, and a chief who goes on television to say the most egregious shooting besides that of Kenneth Ellis III, was justified, then stuttering and bitching up after the mayor publicly humiliates him, along with an IA supervisor who testifies as holier than thou at POC meetings after being caught as an officer taking a wallet and denying it forever, until being squeezed into confessing. Yes, it is some rotten apples, but it is more so a rotten tree.

There are also some citizens, and so called self appointed community leaders who need to lose the ego and chip on their shoulder over who or what is responsible for the DOJ investigation. It seems certain individuals with an agenda want to push that agenda. Don't get me wrong, I agree that there are groups that are overlooked concerning their voice in things, but the hype and attention grabbing is ridiculous. Ralf the LULAC leader complains that most shooting victims are Hispanic. Although any shooting is tragic, the demographics show a 47% Hispanic population combining whites, Asians, Natives, and others with this to make up the total.
Let's not forget Hall who backed Allen Banks. If we can't look past our own personal prejudices, feelings, animosity, and agendas, we are no better than this corrupt administration or it's failed, rotten and hypocritical heads. Black, White, Hispanic, Native or Asian, anyone having their life taken unjustifiably is a tragedy. Everyone here has been walked on, including police officers. Quit bashing all of them.

While all of these attention grabbers are clamoring for attention and false credit, let's not forget about a woman who is now voiceless because she was killed. Let's not forget about Mary Han. You all remember her right? She was the woman who fought the corruption within APD. She was the woman who gave you a voice and whatever it was she knew or discovered, it brought the most vile and corrupt of them to her home the day she was killed out of sheer terror. That same terror is why they did not want the DOJ here. So please have some respect and humbleness. It's not about you. It is about those who truly don't have a voice anymore; the deceased.

Don't be closed minded. Step back and look at the big picture.

Be the opposite of everything this administration is and you will win this war.

Berry knows his political career is over and he’s figuratively hanging on by his fingernails.

He asked DOJ to make it look like he is cooperating and is attempting to look proactive in order to salvage it.

That’s why he was begging the DOJ to submit their report, which they did yesterday. Then the DOJ goes soft on him by patting him on the head for being so cooperative and a good boy. It was a message from DOJ to Berry, parent to child. We appreciate that you are FINALLY cooperating but don’t even think about pulling any more shenanigans.

But for Berry this is a bad and desperate strategy because it only drags on and gives fodder to blogs, talk shows and news media.

It’s Berry’s typical dig your heals in and fight to the end to maintain power and not submit to being accountable and doing the right thing for the citizens.

YOUR DAYS ARE OVER! CHECKMATE COMING SOON!

Anonymous said...

If the DOJ found a majority of the 33 shootings to be unjustified, then I'm expecting APD to be short 30+ officers in the real near future due to criminal indictments. If criminal indictments DO NOT come down on the heads of these government sponsored criminals, then the citizens of ABQ should show the DOJ/APD/NMSP/BCSO what a protest really is!

Good points TR. These whiny citizen wannabe heros like Jewell Hall and her flimsy little whiteboy driver couldn't stand up to a 1/10th the scrutiny they so happily dish out. Sitting their front and center acting like kids at Easter while the DOJ bunny passes out report to see what it says. Made me fucken ill.

Let's see Jewell and Fagman, Banks, you remember him right? That true leader of diversity? Where's he now? Oh right, he fled to Texas. Knowing what was coming down he pulled the rip chord and fled. True leadership there.

But that shouldn't surprise us, because as Deputy Chief, Banks oversaw field services...patrol where a lot of this mess rests. Oh and where was Banks before that? Oh right, he oversaw Internal Affairs...

So while youre slinging shit oh citizen do-gooders, let's not just go after the white folk in the room. I'm no fan of Eden, and Berry, Perry, Wilham, White make me sick, but Banks is front and center in this mess. And NO that's not said because he's black. It's said because he sucks. You giving him a pass like you have is the same shit that's caused this mess in APD...giving people passes because who they are instead of breaking it off in their ass because of WHAT they did.

Can't make this shit up, whiny snivveling citizens as dirty as the department their whining about.

There were people outside the meeting, along with those who fought to get in, and who wore themselves out in the fight to get all of this to materialize. They endorsed NOBODY from this filthy administration in their fight for Justice. Jewel capitulated for reasons people like her do when she endorsed Allen Banks. That is a fact, plain and simple. And until single minded shallow people let the race card bullshit go, there will not be progression as the fair minded envision. Since I am calling it like it is, there are also some others who can't look past their ignorance and hatred of any and all police, authority, or establishment to the point that they would rather tread water than see the benefit in joining with officers who are also fed up. I see this in the cowardly comments and insults directed at the vocation of law enforcement here daily and it is called spite.
Yea, there are some pussy cops, but the generalization carried on by people who themselves cry about being stereotyped, overlooked, and unfairly mistreated, shows that they are the same bad apples on the other side of the fence, who would use circumstances to exact their convenient revenge against possibly one of the officers who may be thinking the same thing they are. You tell us what makes them any better than this lying administration. Either be better or shut the fuck up.
