The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Where We Are...

As we head into the holiday season, your loveable Eye thinks it's time we take a quick look around and survey the scene, if you will; you know, the scene of the crime.

1. Almost two years ago, in November 2012, the United States Department of Justice announced an investigation into APD's use of force. Then Chief Ray Schultz said to the department and to his inner circle that this investigation would more than likely find that APD was a good department and had "it's house in order."

2. Just after the jury comes back with a staggering $10 Million judgment against the city for APD officer Brett Lampiris Tremba's shooting and killing of Ken Ellis, APD chief Ray Schultz reveals he's been planning on retiring since January 2013, just two months after DOJ announces their investigation.

3. Just as Albuquerque's mayoral race enters into full gear, APD chief Ray Schultz takes early retirement but not before he inks a multi-million dollar deal for body cameras and storage services by Taser International, the very company he goes on to work for.

4. Upon Ray Schultz's departure, ABQ mayor Berry announces the search for a new chief and names Allen Banks, one of only a few African-Americans in the entire city's personnel roster, to be chief of police.

5. While on the campaign trail, Berry continually praises APD as one of the best department's in the country, and a model agency that others come to to learn from.

6. In early 2014, Allen Banks announces he's not interested in being the chief of APD and leaves for chief's job in Texas...even after a glowing endorsement by the Albuquerque Journal for him as chief.

7. In comes former United States Marshal of New Mexico, former MVD Director, and current New Mexico DPS Secretary Gordon Eden as Chief of Police.

8. Shortly after James Boyd is killed by APD Officers Keith Sandy and Dominque Perez, DOJ announces the findings of their investigation of APD. In response to the Boyd shooting, Eden holds a disasterous press conference resulting in calling in for backup in the form as former APD commander and tactical supervisor Bob Huntsman.

11. One of Huntsman's first orders of business is to relieve the department's deputy chiefs of some responsibilities by creating a new rank: the APD Major. In a true act of fiscal conservatism, Huntsman promotes not one but two officers to the position, both of whom have...controversial histories with the department.

10. As the summer and fall of 2014 progress, APD officers who are eligible for retirement, file required paperwork in such numbers it is reported that there are more police officers retiring from APD than all other departments state wide combined.

11. Berry and Perry hire two outsiders to "negotiate" the DOJ-Albuquerque agreement. Such outsiders include Scott Greenwood, a Taser contractor like Ray Schultz who promotes the use of Taser products, and Tom Streicher, former chief of the Cincinnati Police Department who led the department during what are considered the worst police sparked riots since the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles.

12. Via the work of Greenwood & Streicher, DOJ-Albuquerque finalize an agreement where virtually every aspect of a department whose house was supposed to be in order is now subject to scrutiny. From APD's academy (don't think we've forgotten about you Wolf, we've just been busy), to internal investigations, to reporting, to annual training, special units, and nevermind investigations and use of force EVERYTHING is now to be reviewed and subject to reformation.

The sad thing is, this is not the twelve days of Christmas, but like the never ending gobstopper from the Chocolate Factory: it never ends. And why our Eyes and readers wonder? Because the very same people that created this disaster are still in place. Our Eyes tell us, good ole Ray Schultz is very much in the middle of things and very much in communication with our friends running the department. And what of those investigations into the former chief and his questionable activities....?

While your loveable Eye likes to report and analyze the facts of things going on, we're gonna step out this one time and predict that little if anything will happen with Schultz and any APD brass. We've not seen anything happen yet, and since it seems only front-line officers are held responsible for anything, why would we expect anything new to happen....  Enjoy your Scotch Rob, you earned it.

The Eye should do it's own rendition of Richard Berry's 12 days of Christmas

I'll start

On the first day of Christmas Richard Berry gave to Albuquerque, One Golden Haired, Non Qualified, Justified, Old White guy, police chief!

Ok everyone take it from there. We need 11 more days.

Anonymous said...

On the second day of Christmas Richard Berry gave to Albuquerque, two APD majors. Tim Gonterman who tortured and burned a citizens ear off costing us $300,000, and Anthony Montano who refused to investigate cheating at the NM DPS Academeeeeeeee (you have to sing the song out loud to make this work).

And one old non qualified guy for police chief.

OK two days down, what about day three of Christmas?

Anonymous said...

On the third day of Christmas Richard Berry gave to Albuquerque, news that the three members of the Bio Park (Zoo, Garden, Aquarium) have all lost money and visitors, 2 abusive APD majors and a one unqualified police chief.

Is the mayor flying to D.C. to attend Crack Mayor Barry's funeral? Certainly their performance and actions while in office show they must be related.

Tixler is daytime PIO and Droblik is weekend PIO. Both are the same exact rank yet Tixler makes $50,000.00 a year and Droblik is on pace to make $130,000.00 this year. Can anyone tell us in the real world how Droblik is making that kind of money as a PIO? It seems to me that one of the two is doing some time sheet funny business. It appears to the average citizen that it really does pay to cry on camera about how the mean old ABQ citizens told the suicidal man to jump. Me thinks Droblik could give a crap because he was on the clock over his shift hoping the guy would stay on the over pass for 12 more hours of overtime pay. Why do we have so many PIO's anyways? Why cant the media just ask the on duty supervisor what happened like the old days? instead of paying Droblik and Tixler massive amounts of overtime to say nothing or just burst out in tears because they lost money in his early surrender? Chief stop paying these media wanna be's and use the supervisors to do their job. It sounds like we need officers on the streets taking calls not officers on the news making overtime.

On the 4th day of Christmas, Mayor Berry gave to me, four more years of lies...

Anonymous said...

On the fourth day of Christmas Richard Berry gave to Albuquerque, news of Emcore leaving the city and taking 275 high paying jobs with them.

Anonymous said...

Why is it that both APD and AFD have badges as PIO. I thought both agencies were "loosing" boots on the ground. Tax dollars were spent to train these PIO's for what? Camera duty!!! Maybe that is why "so many experienced" personell are retiring . Remember APD also had that Janet Blair person . That is a whole lot of money for PIO's. But we're broke says Perry.

Is mayor berry aware he's being sued in federal court by former transit employees after he broke union contracts with city employees? Where are the feds? Where is eric holder? Where is the nm attorney general? Where is justice?

Anonymous said...

Even though she was high-mileage and in need of a re-tread and a trip to Oz for a brain, Tasia was still easier to stomach than leaky faced Droblik.

Anonymous said...

On the 4th day of Christmas these ass clowns gave to us......a major that pulled some sneaky assed shit of sole sourcing some crappy assed rifles that no one wants to carry becuase they have no faith in the weapons.

Anonymous said...

Drobik works a shit load of OT. He does all the GRANT stuff. If you want to make money then start working the OT on your days off. I don't think he has had an entire day off in several years. I give him props for wanting to make extra money. Give the guy a break, one is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

What is the relationship between lax and oncompetent handling of car theft by APD and the safety of UNM students? Two dead and two injyred.
What is the relationship between high gang member per caputa and APD ? Incompetence and two dead UNM students and high car theft.
Maybe APD should use the $ and energy thrown at them to competently police this city.

Anonymous said...

On the 5th day of Christmas Berry gave to Albuquerque, $5,000,000 per year for five years in a DOJ Consent decree.

Anonymous said...

Id be more than happy to work OT but everytime I go to work it, its already taken by Drobik. Drobik works OT that isn't available to anyone except Drobik.

Hey genius defending Drobik tell me how do I get put on the super secret OT call lists that he's on? Grant stuff BS! Hes on each and every movie shoot in town when no one else knew it was available. I myself have worked that stuff in the past and noticed hes the first one on the list somehow before its even offered to anyone else. Most of the time its in womens writing (chiefs OT employees) The dude doesnt even have to beg for it like the rest of us taking the scraps he didnt want.

Simon please can you share those 8,9,10 hours movie shoots with us less fortunate not to have a PIO job at the main stalking the COT girls all day while the rest of us shag your calls?

And will someone in payroll explain how when non Simon officers go over their 25 hours OT we get written up yet Simon goes over 40 hours each and every week?

Will someone investigate this? Probably not because he has convinced the media and his superiors that he is a nice guy just trying to bring unity to the department and support his family.

Simon we are watching you.

12:07,
This shit is called payoff for services rendered. Simon can,t wait to dive to his knees and take the kool aide load hus face for the administration like some sort of perverted out of control porn facial. You see, APD is run no different than la cosa nostra or the fucking mob for that matter except I have more respect for the Mafia than I do these criminals. There is more honoe and loyalty in the mafia than these scum could ever drum up. Bunch of cowards and back stabbers.

Ha ha ha.... At least Tasia never cried. Big guys do cry. They do crEYE EYE EYE...... THER DO CREYE!

Does anyone see a pattern of how they get these new eager to please little non cops like lightbulb head Tixler to step up and spew their bullshit to the public? It is amusing how they get people to speak about something they have never done and know nothing about; police work.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, with all the crap going on you come on here and bitch about someone signing up for more overtime. Many years ago I worked a brief stint in IA and was amazed at the number of calls we got from officers snitching on who went over on their lunch break. Seriously , instead of being a part of the problem and adding to the misery of the few of you that are left to protect the city, try banding together and stop being a bunch of back-biting whiny bitches. Stand together, STFU about minor internal crap and grow the heck up

Anonymous said...

Stop it! You're making Drobnik cry again. Oh the humanity!

Anonymous said...

Leave Drobik alone punks, he probably has a legitimate reason for working the system. Have you guys bothered asking him to his face about his "hook-ups"? Dont be jealous. This thread isnt "eye on drobik" its "eye on Albuquerque"!

Anonymous said...

What about Paul "I call bullshit and I told you so" Heh? He was far worse thab Drobik ever has been. Heh was repeatly listed as one of the top paid city employees making $120,000 to $130,000 a year because of overtime.

APD for years breaks its overtime budget by $1.5 to $2 million a year with alot of rank and file gaming the system with overtime and Metro Court appearances and being paid time and a half for 4 hours minmium for scheduled arraignments that last 15 minutes.

Anonymous said...

Hahahahahahahahahah what about Paul Heh....geee, Heh worked graveyard shift and then was in court as REQUIRED. Drobik works day shift and then volunteers for overtime. Nice try moron.

Anonymous said...

Did ya'll see the front page today??? Talking about a LOON that is not a common sight around here... Who are they kidding??? Mayor Berry is a LOON and he can be found running back into his office and locking the door so he doesn't have to see or speak to citizens that just want answers to all the BS going on... No need to go to the BOSQUE for a LOON sighting..

Anonymous said...

I can't wait to see Drobik and Tixler's career paths after their servitude. No doubt the sky is the limit as with all the former paid liars and propagandists. God forbid you be a cop who works the streets and arrests criminals. Oh my, that is beneath those who toil laboriously to get off the streets and hide inside. Funny how all of these posers wanted to be cops, then when they get hired (notice I didn't say became cops) all they want to do is not be cops.
These are the problems plaguing law enforcement today, fake cops. Any citizen who sits down with these two fake ass frauds at that drink a kool aide with a uniform hanger charade and believes the smoke they are having blown up their asses by the fake smile crew should have their head checked. If you can't see through a fraud p, get out more.

Anonymous said...

Comparing Drobik to Paul Heh? Youve got to be kidding me? Paul Heh was a SERGEANT making $5 an hour MORE than Drobik to achieve the $110,000.00 he made.

Drobik is somehow making $130,000.00 on PATROLMAN pay. Stop defending the criminality of Drobiks acts and figure it how he does it, so we can all make $130,000.00 a year!

If you cant beat em, join em right Shawn?

Anonymous said...

Drobik cried like Tom Brady. Omaha Omaha Omaha!! Jump!

Anonymous said...

Have you listened to the supervisors talk lately? It used to be that to get promoted you had to be able to converse and not freeze on camera.
The Chief led by example and now none of them can.
Plus the idea of PIO was to keep a line between everyday media and 34s but Ficke ..... who are the badge bunnies chasing for leaks these days?

Anonymous said...

The public never realizes the patrol cops making bank are volunteering to work doubles, or being forced to, because WE HAVE NOT GOT ENOUGH OFFICERS ON PATROL.

Anonymous said...

800 officers (less than half assigned to patrol) divided by 7 days a week divided by 24 hours divided by almost 1 million calls for service a year.
Maybe the previous poster should do some basic math and realize that you voted in a mayor who ran your city services into the ground and just kept going.
And before you start with pera, retiring is a paycut. Ask yourself why over 500 people would rather take a sometimes massive paycut to get the hell away from this leadership.
Yeah, i said massive. The average cop pension is 55k because overtime doesnt factor in. The average cop with mandatory overtime makes 80k.

Why is everyone willing to give up more than 25k? It aint the cola that amounts to a few hundred.

Get a clue

Anonymous said...

What do you mean for four hours minimum? If we're paying your ass and you got dressed for court, why can't we take the other 3 hours and 45 minutes you bill us and put your butt on patrol.
It sounds like the field needs you and it would fix your habit of rotating your tickets for different days in court.
Plus i dont get paid to sit around. Why should you?

Anonymous said...

Really, all anyone has to contribute is an argument about PIO? Here, I'll start us off. It's Thanksgiving. Im thankful for the 34s who came to work today and that I dont have to drive around town.
I hear there are less than 40 of you right now active on patrol to respond to all the drunks, family fights, car breakins, and later shots fired.
40 on patrol (media dont let them lie and including sgts and up in the count). 40 on patrol makes 20 teams in a city of 750,000 give or take
Yeah, this is gonna go just fine

Nice bullshit piece on kob with the APOA president and her philosophy of the day crap. Now this woman never liked the police, but became one? Do these shit talkers keep track of the crap that comes out of their mouths? It is nice to see how quick these cowards drop their values or principles to further their cause. These people are the ones that would denounce their country if taken prisoner or convert to Islam on video to save their lives. It really is pathetic to see a place where not one person stands their ground, but constantly tries to bullshit people.
This person sustained enough discipline that they could have been fired along side all of these officers they did not like, but she is somehow better than them? Give me a break. Hey Lopez, you are nothing but a Hypocrit. Quit acting like you give a shit about anything other than hiding from the field and getting paid to hang out. Maybe They can have a new television show starring Lopez and Drobik where Lopez forgives everyone's sins and Drobik cries for everyone's sins.

Meanwhile the administration is making a job out of using employees to make themselves look better. What a huge group of cowards the place is.

Anonymous said...

During his time as a Sgt., Paul Heh created just as much resentment as Drobik collecting the kind of overtime and salary he made. The fact that he was a Sgt. does not matter in that Paul was making and excessive amount of money gaming the system. The way it has happened for both of these guys is that supervisores allows it as does the APOA contract.

Berry can take his retention BS and shove it up his ass. I am out of here December 31. No amount of money could make me stay with APD with the current horrible leadership we have. Berry who blames everything wrong at APD on PERA (I know this makes no sense but Berry's staff is afraid to tell him the truth). Eden who has no clue what a street officer does. He is a political hack making $159,000 per year. Huntsman who created that mess now known as SWAT. Huntsman never liked field services and it really shows. Gonterman who is a horrible example of what is wrong at APD, Montano who had no courage to honestly report on the cheating scandal at the state academy, Wolfe who is too busy forging documents and having affairs with his subordinates (nature at play). I could go on but I won't. Just needed to vent. 33 days and I am done with APD. Thank God! And no Richard Berry I am not retiring because of PERA, I am retiring because you have fucked this city and police department up. Please everyone who is retiring tell the media the truth, Eden and Berry have screwed APD and now they will reap what they sow. I hope 60 officers retire December 31. It's Berry's fault.

November 27, 2014 at 6:42:00 PM, your right. Really if you can be bought for 12k your not much of a police officer. You shit all over them then flash money at them to stay. Berry has police officers mixed up with prostitutes and politicians.

Only in NM

Anonymous said...

I thought Medina was in charge of SWAT during all the cases that DOJ mentions. I would like to think it was Gonterman but there is always a paper trail. Or a Pup Trial which ever you prefer.

Anonymous said...

What happened to the 200 34s who put in their PERA papers. Bullshit talks as usual.

Anonymous said...

That was the best part. The fearless duo was the ones most slammed by the DoJ but you have to know when each case was to know it.
ROP during the downward spiral was under now DC Roseman. And West was the Commander sited by the DoJ. Thats why he left. It wasnt his nap. It wasnt his screw up with Levi. It wasnt the 10 million dollar judgement for his lack of leadership. It wasnt his top 3 and yet he left when word got to him the monitor would make sure he left under such circumstances where his pera would go away. Sound familiar? Where do you think Sandy, who served under him, got the idea?
Him and Scott Lopez are now together at BCBS NM

It isn't year end yet dipshit

There will not be 200 officers retiring or anything even close to that. They will hang around for a bit and take the extra money that is being offered. Money is the only thing that ever works. Its done every day throw money at a problem, it won't fix it. it will just delay the problem a bit.. Look at all the crap money has been thrown at in this town. APD, Education, CYFD, Homeless, Mentally unstable folks. If a politician is involved forget about it....

Anonymous said...

Your right! Money solves everything at APD! Look at the amount Simon Drobik rakes in weekly! That guy is EVERYWHERE! TV, Radio, newspaper, crying on over passes and even homeless shelters feeding staff. Recently I was going through one of my old yearbooks and noticed he was even in there! Funny thing I didn't even go to school in this state.

Those two women in the chiefs overtime office are in on his criminality and will be scrutinized real soon. Rake it in while you can mr crocodile tears boy!

On this day of Christmas Mayor Berry gave to me a children's charity motorcycle ride sponsored by a known gang, Los Carnales, and the Albuquerque Firefighters Union. The same gang Berry fired cops for being a member of. Don't believe it? Just listen to the commercials on 104.1

Albuquerque, the only PERA affiliate that is having a huge run on retirements.

Berry tells everyone it is not his fault. If that is true why don't all the other PERA affiliates have people running to PERA to retire?

The mess Berry has created in Albuquerque will stay with us for years. Maybe he can pay the Taser twins, Greenwood & Streicher to pull his head out of his ass.
