The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Second Site

Some of you may remember the scene from the movie Animal House where Kevin Bacon in a ROTC uniform stands screaming "all is well!" as pandemonium breaks out around him. Not to be out-done, Albuquerque's Chief of Police is busy trying to "reassure" the public by insisting that there's not an "active" serial killer operating in the metro area as the evidence and the bodies continue to pile up around him.

So far Marty and Ray have been somewhat successful in their endeavor. The public is treating the site at 118th and Dennis Chavez, SW as more of a curiosity than a concern. After all, the murders are at least four years old and they're just prostitutes... right?

We'd argue that APD should be concerned when anyone is found dead regardless of whether the remains are new or old, or whether they're from a prostitute or an upstanding member of the community. No one should be a throw-away person for law enforcement.
[Sidebar]
Our Eyes tell us that the Missing Persons Unit is little more than a database. When an officer receives a missing persons report, that report is sent to the Missing Persons unit where it is filed away and promptly forgotten.

Missing Persons is manned by civilians and has no investigative authority. They only come into play when a body is found somewhere and authorities are looking to narrow the identity search down to more manageable numbers.
[End Sidebar]
Now our Eyes tell us that Marty and the Chief have a bigger problem. Apparently, the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office is working another site where more bodies have been found. Further, the Eyes have it that Sheriff White - not Chief Schultz - brought in the FBI.

Who knows, perhaps the two sites are unrelated. Maybe there have been two serial killers working the area or maybe people have been going to these two locations, digging a hole and dying on their own. Certainly Marty and the Chief would prefer that you believe the latter.

Instead of being honest with the public, instead of doing their jobs, the Almighty Alcalde and Chief Schultz have chosen to spin this as positively as they can. In fact, our Eyes tell us that the Chief has issued a gag order. Under threat of termination, no one is allowed to speak "negatively" about the investigation.
[Sidebar]
This business about portraying the city in the best possible light is nothing new. Marty threw out TV shows like COPS because he didn't want Albuquerque to look crime-ridden to a national audience.

Our Eyes tell us that two detectives from the Homicide Unit told incoming Chief Ray Schultz that there was a serial killer operating in Albuquerque. Chief Schultz refused to act on the information because he was more concerned about the city's image (or maybe Marty's image), than he was about a serial killer.

With the department's history of fudging numbers and cooking books, we wouldn't be surprised if the 5th Floor decided not to count these deaths as homicides. After all, we'd hate to tarnish our image.
[End Sidebar]
Look, these are the facts. There are at least 13 bodies that ended up in a field on the Southwest Mesa. They are four to nine years old. There is now a second site where multiple bodies have been found. Just based on the evidence released to the public, there has been at least one serial killer operating in the metro area.

We don't expect the chief to divulge information from an on-going investigation. However, it's stupid and dangerous to assert that there isn't a serial killer operating in Albuquerque. They've thrown out two conveniently dead non-suspects as red herrings in an attempt to "reassure" the public, but our Eyes tell us that there is no forensic evidence linking either of the dead men to the recovered remains.

Through this whole thing Mayor Chavez has been a no show and Chief Schultz has been living in fantasy land. Leadership means leveling with the public particularly when it could save lives. If the body count continues to grow and evidence shows that the killer is still working the area, there will be two people responsible for the inept handling of the case - Mayor Martin Chavez and Chief Ray Schultz.

My 78 year old brother called me from Shasta County, CA to inquire if I was 'safe' in ABQ! This story has gone national. I wish the Mayor and the Chief would come out and do an open press conference on the subject. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered. And you are right, don't marginalize these murdered women because they lived on the fringes of society. Each one was a child of God and someone's precious family member.

IMHO it would be equally irrespensible for anyone back then to suggest a serial killer when all you could confirm were missing people.

It would appear to me that they haven't conducted a press conference because they still don't know the answers you are eluding to. I am sure it will come in time.

We don't have a serial killer. We don't have an evidence room problem. We don't have a staffing problem. We don't have problems with the Red Light Scameras. We don't have a problem responding to calls. We don't have a morale problem. We don't (FILL IN THE BLANK).

Any questions?

I had the same thought, "Oh, how convenient, APD blaming two dead
men." I have since changed my mind.
It would seem to me that Lorenzo Montoya, the man
police suspect in the deaths of 13 females on the West Mesa
is connected to somebody in law enforcement and/or is a person
with family connections. I googled Lorenzo Montoya to see if
I could find his occupation and I couldn't find what Lorenzo's
Montoya's occupation had been. Lorenzo Montoya had all but one
charge dismissed, dropped or deferred from charges for aggravated
battery, domestic violence, patronizing a prostitute, etc...
In 2005, Lorenzo Montoya had been engaged in choking a prositute
inside his car when a APD police car pulled up. Despite, having
an eye witness account from Police, the charges were deferred.

In 2006, when Lorenzo killed a stripper and was shot by the stripper's
boyfriend, the family of Lorenzo Montoya issued this statement, "Lorenza
had a 16 year old daughter and a newborn he will never meet." Lorenzo's
family accused the boyfriend of killing his own girlfriend. So,
why had all the criminal charges against Lorenzo Montoya dropped,
dismissed or deferred (all, but one?). It would seem that Lorenzo
Montoya who after reading all of the current articles on the internet
is not listed as a pimp as the other suspect who died of natural
causes was at age 60. So, again, who is Lorenzo Montoya and what was his
occupation? Was he a construction worker at KB homes, SunCal?
Was he his cousin an APD cop? How did Lorenzo Montoya get so much
influence over the courts... to have allowed aggravated battery
charges, choking a stripper, domestic violence charges all get dismissed.
Those are all separate cases, not filed by the same woman.
Nobody is Pro-Abortion. Abortion is a terrible tragedy and is horrible. Nobody is Pro-Abortion. Most people that are pro-choice advocate education and in leaders
setting the right tone in society that violence against women is a punishable offense and needs to be punished. One of the victims at the West Mesa crime scene was a pregnant woman. In 2006, Lorenzo
was expecting a newborn baby. Was the hostility too much for Lorenzo, so rather than beat up his pregnant girlfriend opted for
calling up Ms. Hill in 2006 to his home as a stripper and strangle her to death to vent out his frustrations because he couldn't handle being a daddy, again? Who is Lorenzo Montoya and why had so many, all but one charge get dismissed, dropped, or deferred. All those charges were not filed by the same women, but several different women. What had Lorenzo Montoya occupation been? Nowhere does it say, "pimp."

You mean to say Darren White called out the FBI when he has the infamous Greg Marcantel right there working for him? Doesn't Darren know that if he wants to solve the case he'll call on the "TOP COP" to make the arrests? He can lie on sworn affadavits, phony up police reports, lie to grand juries..anything you wantas long as he gets the spotlight.
OH wait, that's right, because Marcantel doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground they are going to lose Triple Homicide. Guess they better not use him for this one...

Unless it's HIS or Marty's wife, daughter or mother.

The eye is becoming more and more pathetic by the day. No gag order has been issued. The chief is on the way out out anyway, its a new administration wether of not Marty wins. Get on with the facts eye. There is no serial killer in Abq. He is dead. Thats the fact.

to the idiot that rambled on and on about lorenzo montoya, he was not charged because we live in the democratic state of new mexico thats why. you think being a cousin to a cop can get you out of all these things?! please this isnt belen for petes sake. and bcso are relying on fbi because their major crime scene team is a complete joke and if they didnt call for help they wouldnt have the first clue of what to do

Heck, the BCSO can't even investigate a common compliant. It is their duty to do so. Look it up,
29-1-1. I know of at least two BCSO officers who violated this regulation but nothing has been done about it.
A third one who violated it finally got herself fired by taking drugs into a school (her duty station). No criminal charges (felony), just fired. She also got away with the suspicious death of her boyfriend.
Police are nothing but corrupt, lying, drug/booze swilling cowards on a power trip.

re: March 4, 2009 11:00:00 PM MST

Some are like that, many if not most are not. As a kid I really didnt care much for cops, yet I grew up and after college became one. Interestingly most of my "on the job" friends felt the same way with no use for the "Barney Fife" types that most agencies seem to draw at about a 5% rate.

You can't always judge a book by its cover. On the flip side of that thought is this one, people who feel free to downgrade cops in public often do so ONLY because they know they can get away with it.

Seriously, if you took that group of healthy uniformed young men on the corner that you feel free to deride, and put them in work clothes or military uniforms or a biker's leather jacket you mouthier types wouldn't feel the least inclind to go over to them and pop off with your opinions and views. I've always observed that the "plant eaters" of society love to pick on cops most of all because it is the only time they can talk to someone in that sort of tone and not get an abrasion.

Seriously, most of us would just like to have a normal conversation without hearing your views on facisim, we all live in the same place and put on our pants the same way.

Anonymous said...

With all due respect officer, I tried normal conversation and it got me nowhere.
My opinion is not based on anything but my own experiences. I've been assaulted and injured twice by the police and had false (proven in a court of law) criminal charges brought against me by a known out of control officer. The one that beat up one boyfriend (got a slap on the wrist by the system), before she came after me, and most likely killed her second boyfriend, after I had beaten her in court. If she had been treated like a regular citizen, for filing false police reports, that man might still be alive.
Not only has this caused me on-going suffering from my injuries but it has also cost me thousands of dollars in defending myself.
Yet, not one "decent" officer stood up on my behalf.
How can I come to any other conclusion, that there are no "decent" officers? Three times is a charm for me.
Perhaps, under the cloak of anonymity, that you seem to distain so much, you would be willing to share your inside knowledge and sway my opinion?

Did White do the right thing by calling in the FBI, this only shows his faith in his own dept. You know with Gregg (top cop) busy trying to figure out how he is going to save the triple homicide, there is no one else worthy of dealing with this type type of investigation......This is a real ey opener for the SO.

Anonymous said...

Lorenzo Montoya worked for Starlight Publishing, as a foreman in the printing area.

White calling in the FBI is the 1st thing done right about this whole situation.

In the news, Paul Fiest is now the lead investigator, what a joke. I like Paul, but again another way for the city to hand it off, instead of Mr. Mayor coming to the podeum.

This situation is out of the league of locals; although, they do a great job, it's time to pull in the Feds with the resources/time/money and experience.

If you don't like White that's your gig. He did the right thing instead of trying to be the BMOC. Unlike Marty, worried about public impression and appeasing the HBAC, White cares about the 11 plus unidentified bodies. Male, female, criminal, upstanding citizen, serial killer, ...

Nobody will know for awhile, but as citizens we all need to be informed, it's creepy and could affect anyone.

Anonymous said...

Nice call linking the Valencia County deal to the SW Mesa. This serial killer is suspected to be over 300 years old. And White didnt call anyone...the FBI involvement brings money you idiots dont have to pay in the form of higher taxes or less cops on the street next year. Find something to whine about you know more about.

Gregg Marcantel will NEVER be able to "save the Triple"..he's the one that f*** it up to begin with..just wait and watch. It will all come out.

Anonymous said...

HOPEFULLY PEOPLE WILL NOW SEE THAT ALL THIS TIME GREGG HAS DONE NOTHING BUT BLOW SMOKE....AND THOUGH IT IS GOING TO BE TOUGH FOR THE FAMILIES OF THE TRIPLE....GREGG...WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND....YOU ALONE MESSED UP THE TRIPLE AND HOPEFULLY THIS TIME YOU WILL MAN UP AND ADMIT IT...

I do not understand why so much play time is given to Gregg M. Everyone knows he is nothing but a "glory hound" and will step on his own mother if it will make him look good. There is no way he could become involved in this investigation now, everyone knows that he he tried to be an FBI agent and they figured him out so he had to come crawling back to the SO. And with the upcoming triple trial, Im sure he will be busy throwing everyone under the bus, it hopes of hiding the fact he alone messed it up with his TASK FORCES and and investigative skills. So lets lay off Gregg, he is not worth all this time.

who wins when Marcantel and White fight for camera time?? Marcantel will NEVER "man up"..he'll sell his own down the river before he'd ever admit to making a mistake. He's done it before.

I use to be with APD. I my opinion, I am not sure if they did enough when all these girls had gone missing. Maybe it was lack of funds or resources or maybe it was just because they were prostitutes (2nd class citizens) Law Enforcement do judge like that. I know, I was there. If anyone, I mean anyone on that force says they never did they are plain out lying. (Ok, the exception to this rule is when you first start and you think you can save the world, but that goes away really fast, then you start thinking its them vs us, then you start defending yourself against two adversaries groups, the public who hate you and 5th floor of 401 Roma NW. You don't know who wants to hurt you more) I grew up with two guys who were not bad guys. Yeah they were not always on the right side of the law but who is? These guys were massacred on the west mesa a few years back (Mark Anaya and Anthony Garcia) and because they categorized the meeting a drug deal gone bad, they never pursued the case and no one was ever charged with their murder. I live in Portland now and I read eye from time to time. This case is in the view of the nation. We hear about it here in Portland, my sister who lives in Dallas has mentioned it. For some reason these murders happen due to the lack of diligence and pursuit. Don't screw this one up.

First of all Marcantel has no investigative skills. All he has ever had is a gift to blow smoke up people's asses with big words and lies. Why lay off Marcantel when he and a few others down at BCSO need to be exposed for what they are(n't)....and the promotions just keep on coming..

If any one of you people personally knew Gregg Marcantel, you would not be dogging on him. You have no idea what it is like to have the whole world judging every move you make. He is human and he is not going to win every case he investigates. If I were murdered Gregg Marcantel is the only one I would want investigating my case. and for the person who said, Marcantel would step step over his own mother just for the glory is a moron, Marcantel could care less about how much air time he gets, he only cares about one thing and that is making our streets a safer place and that always doesn't happen, he is only one person. I am a former student of his and he has taught me more than any other teacher I have had, I admire him for his hard work and dedication.

It is more then Obvious that these women were murdered in the time line they were . It is very obvious that Lorenzo was the bad dog that did these murders and people around him pointed the law in his direction because he had a hate of women. Thank god he is dead but his life as a psychopath should be expounded I wish he had survived his shots. So we could learn about him.
