I guess that meant raises for police and fire chief's plus their deputies. What about a higher income to intice people to want to become part of APD.

I don't mind the camera's because as nerdy as I am, I don't run red lights on purpose. There is the occasional slip. But if I were to get a ticket & it was, say, $20, I'd pay it and watch my future driving behavior. After all we are human and occasionally make mistakes.

In past times we'd have a scarlet letter or be humiliated in the town square. Seems like we're really not too far off. This administration has lied from day one. They doctored the numbers for accidents. The mayor first stated that the numbers were in and they 'drastically' reduced the numbers of collisions. When all that happened was the fact the Chief Schultz ( I use him because he is ultimately responsible) was they changed the area in which they accidents were calculated.

Hence, a new outcome, the cameras actually INCREASED rear-end collisions by a greater percentage than they reduced overall accidents. Now is that drivers fault, well of course it is. The fact is the administration lied.

The placement of the camera. First it was decided that placement was based on accidents. FALSE, they were placed where the traffic flows are the greatest, hence a greater ratio of violators.

The fact that they stated the system is "error proof". Well we all saw the news story on the intersection of Carlisle and Montgomery, false red light flashes as the timer was off. The city's response? It was an anomaly. So that anomaly went to the intersection of Coors and Sequioa, where the speed limit was wrong.

Which brings to point, if the city was not interested in revenue they would not have added the speed enforcement of the programs.

Then the speed vans, great idea at first because they were touted for school zones,AWESOME!!!!!! Guess they weren't making enough revenue so why not stick them on the interstate. Not just any part of the interstate though. The only 55 MPH stretch of the interstate in the city.

Then they were to add rumble strips, they knew they had to do this on July 1, 2007, why because in February the Governor mandated it. The city had roughly 5 months to complete rumble strips but they started on July 1. The mayors comment....The state shouldn't have a problem with all the intersections being marked as required because we started the work on July 1.

Now news that wrong cars are being cited and confirmation that is being done.

Government is about trust, this administration ruined that trust. Not only because of this program but all the other crap that goes on with it.

I fell in love with the red light camera program at first, now I can't wait to get rid of it. It has not proven itself as effective and cannot be trusted.

I have seen the program in other states such as California and Scottsdale. Seems like their system, the same Redflex system, was not based on a lies by a pitchman and are effective.

Way to go Mayor and Chief for ruining a program that could actually save lives into one that can't be trusted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4662430175624645998.post-45366835317641099002007-12-15T16:02:00.000-07:002007-12-15T16:02:00.000-07:00If I run a red light, I want an officer to come to...If I run a red light, I want an officer to come to me and tell me and then give me my constitutional right to appeal and fight in court. these cameras are a money maker and have nothing to do with stopping accidents. they are a revenue for martyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4662430175624645998.post-48823431069772841792007-12-15T15:56:00.000-07:002007-12-15T15:56:00.000-07:00Above Poster: you're being simplistic and glib.
