The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. The Road to Tyranny

The greatest threat to our freedom isn't some Islamo-Facist group training in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan (although they remain a threat to our security), it's the internal threat created by good intentions. Whether it's global warming or healthcare these crises of convenience are serving to render liberty a quaint reminder of our past.

Our individual liberties are being consistently eroded by our good intentions. As a country and a society we are a generous people who want to see those less fortunate provided with an opportunity to better their lot in life. We also want to be good stewards of the environment in which we live. Our response is to give ever increasing authority to government eschewing our own responsibilities and delivering our liberties to those who are the most likely to abuse them and us.
Gov. Bill Richardson has issued an executive order today that contains a slew of new emission reduction directives designed to combat climate change, which the governor described as "the most critical environmental issue of our time."
In addition, the executive order specifically calls for reducing greenhouse gas emissions that stem from coal-fired power plants and mining operations.
Never mind that the global warming "scientists" are far too willing to substitute consensus for evidence. Never mind that the historical record indicates periods of global cooling and warming long before man's discovery of the useful nature of carbon based fuels. Ever increasing regulation will strangle innovation and for a state dependent on oil and gas revenue that has regulated itself into a $600 MILLION deficit, more regulation equals economic disaster.

American success is built upon American freedom. Whether it's regulating a gas created by every mammal on the planet in the name of saving said planet or creating a new health insurance system that will inevitably lead to poorer care and fewer choices, our personal and economic freedoms are under attack.

The Tea Party movement is a direct response to our government's attack on freedom. They understand that when government spends our money and binds us to financial commitments that cannot possibly be repaid for generations. Each dollar spent by government, each financial obligation incurred necessarily our economic options - our economic freedom.

If we continue down this road of empowering government rather than insuring liberty we will achieve the ends that are the goal of our country's Islamo-Facist enemies, economic collapse and governmental tyranny.

When Bush was wiretapping people without a court order and establishing free speech zones, this bolg had nothing to say about our freedom being eroded.

The republicans want to control the internet so corporations can make a profit and limit information, but we hear nothing from the Eye. When the Bush administration filled US Attorney offices with political hacks because professionals like Iglesias would not do the political bidding of politicians.

You talk about freedom but you never mentioned the Siegelman, the former Alabama Governor who became a political prisoner, on your blog. Over 90 former Attorney’s General have asked for a Writ of Certiorari. We are talking about a person who lost his freedom and was put behind bars for political reasons.

Prosecutors investigate crimes not people to prevent tyranny, but you will not write about republicans prosecuting politics. You do not care about freedom. You are nothing more than a republican loyalist.

President Thomas Jefferson: "God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God

Patrick Henry said, “It is when a people forget God, that tyrants forge their chains.”

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson

Keep up the good work. Individual crackpots have so little voice or power, but en masse they're easier to keep track of. Also, getting them together to make signs is undoubtedly therapeutic.

So many fat white evangelical gunowners, born on second base, now cursing the poor and progressive because they can't find third. Never realizing it's the uberwealthy who've cheated them..... who've profited from war, oil, and healthcare, while we send our sons and daughters to fight for them.

Back when adults read real books and newspapers (instead of taking their news predigested by the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh) we had great intellectuals like this guy:

Today we have Fox News, homeschooling, and Sarah Palin. is it any wonder the sun is setting on America?

I agree but Republicans only started yapping about deficits when they lost power. Republicans took us into two wars and did not raise taxes to pay the tillions of dollars it will take to fight them. Republicans passed a drug benefits package but did not pay for it. The Republicans won't let Americans import less expensive drugs.(trade is good for everythin but drugs).

it is too late to take the high road. Clean your house before you tell someone else what to do.

Blood of tyrants, indeed. Jefferson was talking about the wealthy and powerful, not those who would try to provide for the general welfare.

The federal income tax rate for the very wealthy has dropped from 87% during the Eisenhower administration to 37% or so today. Meanwhile the national debt has increased from less than two trillion in the 1950s (adjusted for inflation) to $13 trillion this year. But it's far easier to pick on the poor than it is to face the facts and stand up to those with the money to shape public opinion. And SO MUCH money..... how else do you talk the masses into voting against their own interests?

It's bully by proxy; middle class, conservative folk are hired thugs and don't even know it.

Meanwhile, the rich get richer...now 1% control 95% of the wealth... the most disparate ratio since before WW2.

You do understand that the majority of the wealthy and powerful are so called "progressive democrats."

What is with all the energy crap? I could care less if the world is getting warmer or why. You should try a few tours in the sand box and then let me know if you like risking your life to support oil.

Individuals who joind the armed forces volunteered to protect the people. They did not join to protect oil.

We should tax the hell out of imported oil to pay for the two wars and to invest in tech to become energy independent.

We subsidize the production of food for national security reasons. We should do the same for domestic production of energy. It is vital for our national security.

Paved with good intentions? Perhaps, but we are driven down that road my intentions of a much more malicious nature.

Does Marty's stupid policy stil stand -- that hybrid cars can park fee at any city meter or city lot? WTF, Berry. Those that can afford to drive hybrids can afford to pay to park like all the rest of us. Come on, now, fair is fair, right?
