As you know, under the current County Management structure there are four departments, IT, Human Resources, Economic Development and PIO, reporting directly to me. Over the past several months I have been giving thoughtful consideration to the overall structure. In order to improve and enhance operations I will re-establish a previously existing division-Administrative Services-which will have IT, HR, Economic Development and Public Information under its umbrella. I will appoint Renetta Torres, current HR Director to be Administrative Services Deputy County Manager. As I have previously indicated, this will not involve the creation of a new position.Note that County Manager Lucero is notifying the commissioner that there "will" be a new Deputy County Manager. And despite Lucero's claims to the contrary, our Eyes tell us that the county has not had a Deputy County Manager of Administrative Services in at least a decade.
We'd argue that "re-establish[ing]" a position that hasn't existed for over a decade is no different than creating a new position. Just like "revenue enhancements" are no different from tax increases. Lucero is creating a new position and he's doing it on his own authority barely taking the time to notify his bosses on the commission before doing so.
[Sidebar]John Dantis should be hauling home the final boxes from his office Friday, but the county itself is back to business as usual.
Every family member hired by the county was done so with the approval and full knowledge of the County's Human Resources Department where Ms. Torres was the director. Instead of looking into the department's failings, Lucero is giving Ms. Torres a promotion.

Ms. Torres being a double dipper just like Tom Swistack who is replacing John Dantis and Dan Mayfield head of County finance who all reired from their present positons with Bernalillo County and then immediatley returned to the same positions with the same or higher pay along with their PERA reitrement checks. Ms. Torres son Daniel is supervised by his wife Nicole who both work for Tom Swistack at the Juvenile Justice Center. Mr. Lucero has several Cousins, in-laws and other family members who work through out the County. The County's IT director is married to the Juvenile Court's Administrator and his Nephew Arron works for County IT.
So how is this news? People in power have always done what they want to, and will continue to do so long after we are gone!
Yeah I saw them on the news. They had De La Cruz and Armigo with him. Then you know there up to something.
my head hurts
my head hurts too.
all of apd makes my head hurt.
what a bunch of liars. lie and lie and lie. they also do what they want, when they want. regardless of their families. stick together brothers cuz when your family is gone and you are standing there holding your d!ck in your hands, your brother in blue will be all you have. or girlfriend in blue or your psa or your other girlfriend in dispatch or your other special teams girlfriend or your girlfriend on the inside or your girlfriend in at the da's office or your boyfriend, your family though, they will be gone.
It is disheartening to see what is going on here. Sad. When crime goes through the roof they still won't care. The politicians will have their pockets lined. That is all that matters to them. The poor residents of this city will be the ones who suffer when the crime rate gets out of control. The rich bags of shit make sure that they live in nice cozy places. Nothing but a bunch of worms.
I hear that Torres and Thaddeus Lucero(county commish) are more than just co-workers, too.
The Feds are dirtier than APD and AFD...they need to clean their OWN house first. They are all in bed together doesn't EVERYONE know that already?????
Above poster, you are right!!! And we need to take this blog over....It sux!
here is something for the "eye" to check out. how many relatives were transferred, before it all of this went public? check high up the food chain.
If they take the cars away from some of us, they take the cars away from all of us.
Anyone monitoring the City Budget meeting would also mention that the cost for the take home vehicles of City Bureaucrats is the equivalent to the cost of APD take home vehicles. If cost is in question how about losing city provided vehicle? At 6 figures can at least afford their own transportation and gas.
Regarding the County, what else did you expect from good ole boy Lucero?
I want to know what happened to "The Eye". Me thinks someone has gotten to him (or her) because there hasn't been anything juicy or newsworthy posted here in quite a long time....come to think of it, not since Farty Marty left office. Very suspicious.....
dear eye,
your website is really lame. here's why: it's never up to date. the posts are old, the blogs are old and damn, this is getting old.
why do you just give up, obviously you can not handle the upkeep.
so let it go. all the bitching and moaning will go on whether you are there or not. you give yourself a bad name. in fact, you should write an article about yourself and how lame this website is and how it's always behind. then we can all comment. i'll look for that sometime next year.
I am totally impressed with AFD not buying into the mayor's bs and not going to awards ceremony. You all have a set of balls.
What has happened to this site. I thought with the new reporter we would hear more, but it has been just the opposite. I am beginning to wonder does the new reporter also work for the mayor?
Come on people, give us more than what we are getting lately which is nothing for almost a month.
Also, what happened to Peaches? How about at least some initials if you do not want to reveal the name.
Where's the evidence of the "new six figure salary". By all accounts Ms. Torres did not receive a salary increase upon becoming the Deputy County Manager. The "headline" in this blog is NOT supported by the subsequent information provided.
Perhaps it would simply have been better to focus solely on the added (and obviously unneeded) layer of bureaucracy-and the failure to investigated Ms. Torres-rather than trying to engage in "hype" with the un-needed "six figure" claim. That weakens the argument IMHO
I agree we all turn our cars in. Union need to coordinate
I Guess the eye has died, nothing new posted for a few weeks, I guess the Administration has gotten to the eye. should call yourselves the "blind eye""
wow eye!
you haven't posted for over a month. guess your contributors and not contributing.
shut down this site.
you are wasting space.
Eye,l how about reporting on the Judicial Standards comitte . They are pathetic. Judge Swhartz gets no dicipline after his obsurd behaviour in and out of the courtroom. Then they fail to discipline Judge Sanchez in Taos after his contempt of Judge where he put 32 people in jail. Judge Candelaria is another one, Lets get busy Eye
I do believe THE EYE is no longer. Over a month without a single post. I wonder who got to "him".
I wanted to see if there was any nepotism involved with the appointment but only got "Blacked out papers."
The County could save money on its next investigation by just ordering black paper to print on.
Donde Esta?
Eye RIP,,,
The EYE has been made
Why no new post come on post something you left us with wtf
You've been pretty quiet lately. Does retirement have you doing better things with your time
The Eye has been blinded.
