The Scott Heard Around the World

Massachusetts has a new Senator. Republican Scott Brown - as recently as 9 days ago left for dead by the media and the Democratic party - has risen like a Phoenix from the ashes to claim the U.S. Senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy. So what does that mean to people like us who live in the desert?

First and perhaps most importantly, it means that the Tea Party movement has become a real political force in American politics. Without the burden of party politics, Tea Party Patrons have embraced the concepts of freedom and the original meaning of the U.S. Constitution and set it above petty desires and assumed entitlements. Their fundamental belief in the original role of government motivated independents to vote not for the big government, big spending, big borrowing, big promising ultra-liberals that have usurped the Democratic party. But rather, a candidate who drove a truck and promised not to vote for the healthcare entitlement designed to make slaves of individuals while promising them eternal life... or at least eternal health.

For Democrats, it means that if they are to retain power they must move away from the uber-liberals who would drum conservative Democrats out of the party. It means that there's a distinct difference between classic liberalism and the socialism that the party has embraced. Most importantly, it means that Democrats need to understand that those who pay the bills have awakened to the reality that they're the ones paying for the out-of-control spending that has become the hallmark of the Democratic party.

For Republicans, the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts means that this country is fundamentally a center-right nation with a core that demands fiscal responsibility. It's a truth that Republicans had somehow forgotten since Regan and one that took Tea Party intervention to recall.

Like that fateful day in April of 1775, January 19th, 2010 marks a turning point in American history. It very well may be the day that marks the beginning of a return to individualism and self-responsibility outside of the demands and the burdens of big government. It very well may be the Scott heard around the world... or at least loud and clear in Washington.

I believe a few of your basic premises are flawed.
The country is basically centrist that should swing on a gentle pendulum from slightly right to slightly left as political and social conditions change. The quicker we move away from the fringe areas on both sides, the better for the nation as a whole.
Out of control spending is not solely the domain of the Democratic Party. If you need proof, examine the years 2001 through 2008.
Most economists who have studied the great depression would agree that the way to emerge from a severe economic downturn like we are currently experiencing is to spend your way out. If that appears to be out of control spending, so be it. The alternative, doing nothing by underestimating the depth of the recession and hoping that capitalism by itself will be enough to bring us back to a stable economy, could easily lead us into a prolonged Kondratieff winter. The faster we enter the spring of a new cycle, the better.

If there's anyone who shouldn't have been seated is that of our
so-called president. Consitutionally he is ineligible. The people of Massachusetts have answered for the rest of us.
Obama is a fake and a fraud.
The winds of change are in the air, change that Obama and the rest of the liberal fairies didn't count on.

Give me a break. This country was in near ruin when Obama took the helm. GW did a great job of seeing to that. The more the two parties go against each other the more destruction we do to our country. It's no wonder the rest of the world is laughing at us. We can't even get along with each other.

The questions our elected officials should be asking themshelves is: How out of touch am I? VOTE THEM OUT!

Although the Democrats are blamed as the party of "big spenders" one only has to study the annual budget numbers to find this is a myth. Bush Jr added $5 trillion to our current $12.2 trillion national debt. Reagan and Bush Sr added $3 trillion between them. Most American don't realize Reagan almost doubled the national debt during his eight years in office. And for those that believe spending doesnt work; I suggest they study the spending program that brought the end to the Great Depression: WWII.

GW kept this country safe. Obama has increased the deficit more in one year than GW did in eight years.
"Most economists who have studied the great depression would agree that the way to emerge from a severe economic downturn like we are currently experiencing is to spend your way out" This statement is pure BS. Liberal economists think this is true.
It is true that both parties have no trouble spending money, but historically, Democrats are not fiscally conservative in any way.

....and neither is our local city government, especially with who we elected and who he appointed.

Safe - wasn't he at the helm for 911! Did you forget they hit our Pentagon. Do a reality check before you speak!!!

GW was at the helm, but the ability of the terrorists to hit on 9/11 was a Clinton era mishandling of the military and the intelligence agencies. I have a right to speak. I earned my right with two combat tours. What about you?

For anyone thinking Pete Jr is the answer in NM, just watch this video....this comes after we learned that he represented the "Drunk Nurse" who was accused of killing a 5 year old boy by treating him when she was drunk...how long till all the federal contracts he won while his dad was approving the budget come to light?

And is a lawyer married to an anchorlady . . .
real populist, no?
And - doesn't Mass. ALREADY have its own public option?

No - I didn't join up to do two tours to be involved in a war that we should have never been in. Except for the fact that GW wanted to finish what daddy Bush started. Look at the results today. I salute the troops, but most of them wonder why they went to Iraq also. Then IF they come back and are wounded they received no support and at times medical attention. We hear, on the news, one heart breaking story after another. Just the other night the soldier at Eubank and Constitution with PTSD. Don't know the details, but wouldn't a taser have worked. Why did they have to shoot him. Oh, I forget it's APD.

Anonymous said...

APD is good at shooting dogs and helpless vets. --why did they have to shoot a dog SEVEN times???? And this poor Veteran...WTF were they thinking? Why not a tazer? APD is either WAY too kind or WAY too mean...there's no inbetween with them. I've been in traffic with police vehicles and have seen other cars with cracked windshields, no license plates, aggressive drivers, speeders, even someone doing wheelies on their motorcycles and the officers do nothing. Stupid APD.

We do not wonder why we went to Iraq or Afganistan dumbass. We understand very well the price of FREEDOM. For people like you, it is easy to say, "let someone else do it" or " I don't believe in war". The real reason is cowardice on your part. Oh my, you might just get hurt! You would never volunteer or "join up" no matter what the reason for war. That's ok, even if it is not the right thing to do, because there are plenty of us who are willing to serve our country and do not feel that our freedom or rights are an entitlement. By the way, too have been diagnosed with PTSD and I have never felt the need to point a gun at a police officer. You don't use a taser if you have a gun pointed at you. This is not fantasy world, it is real life.

Taser fans -- any idea what the range is on one?
I thought not...
you wanna' get within 20' without cover to take a chance with a one-shot nonlethal weapon be my guest -- next time you see an armed guy feel free to come over and borrow a taser from on of the officers-- you will get famous

Oh great a cop with PTSD. Watch out citizens. Please, please explain to me why we went to Iraq. I was plenty free before that war and no one needed to be there to fight for my freedom. Coward, I think not! That war was absolutely NOT the right thing to do. I have had plenty of family members that are Vets and most recently one died due to agent orange from Vietnam, so please get off your soap box. I never said I absolutely knew the circumstances surrounding the police shooting of that Vet. Guess your too stupid to get the concept of "suicide by cop". I doubt he was going to hurt anyone. You cops don't even care about each other, based on what I've read on these blogs. Talk about cowards. Why don't you stick up to your sick Chief!

PTSD does not mean a person is crazy. You only have freedom because of us vets. Coward is the right word for someone like you. Talk is cheap!! You can talk all you want, but the bottom line is people like you cannot put their money where their mouth is. You said it right, you have family members who are vets!! NOT YOU! THEY SERVED! NOT YOU! Props to them! Guess your too stupid to know that there is no such thing as " suicide by cop". Suicide is the act of killing oneself! Your doubt is what gets people hurt out there. You sit on the sidelines and Monday morning quarterback everything! I know your type well. You think you know what is going on, but you speak without having any idea of what you're talking about. Learn the facts before you speak. God Bless America!

Everyone is quick to blame George W. for the mess Obama inherited, while in reality it was Clinton that put this entire debacle in motion -- Clinton de-regulated the banking industry and Clinton's big rally cry was that "every American should be a home owner" -- lowering the bar for people to qualify that really shouldn't have qualified for home loans. It snowballed downhill from there. SO actually W inherited Clinton's mess and so on.....

Never said if you have PTSD you are crazy. I think you made that point when you said shooting that poor Vet was the only way to handle that situation. Did your mama serve in the military - did your wife, sister, etc. I sincerely doubt it. Generally, an entire family does not serve in the military and mine is no different. However, just because I didn't doesn't mean I love this country any less than you. If you did serve, then you made that decision and I don't owe you a damn thing. If you are so brave, why don't you stick up to the Chief when you see all the wrong doings in your department. I'll tell you why - because you are a COWARD! Put your money where your big mouth is!

Like I said, talk is cheap. You seem to think their service transfers to you. It doesn't. People like you will never get it. You sit on the sidelines while others do. I never said a thing about any of my family serving, although quite a few of them have and are serving. You're the one who wanted to extol your family's service to this country. Easy for you to sit there and judge things that you don't understand. You're the one who has to look at yourself in the mirror. It is understandable that you find yourself lacking. I've been there, done that. You talk about it. Enough said.

Actually, you need to go as far back as "Reganomics". For that matter, most of the thieves on Wall Street and people committing fraud and convincing people they could afford a house were Republican, conservative and (supposedly) Christian. What a joke you all are. Go adopt a child that was abandoned by their parents and actually do some good in the world. Another words, put your money where your mouth is! You never seem to do that. So, if the bar was lowered, who gave these people the loans just to make a buck (Greedy)!

So back on topic. Had an MVD hearing earlier this week. Guess what happened. Called records to have to report faxed to MVD. Records said that they couldnt find the report. What a surprise! Looks like the court cases are catching up with these reports that are lost in cyberspace.
