The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Dangerous

We are sure it comes as no surprise to anyone, New Mexico is the second most violent and crime riddled state in the Union.  Why is New Mexico, especially Albuquerque so violent and dangerous?
According to the latest report out, “The number of violent crimes dropped across the United States by 4.4% in 2013 compared to the year before, according to estimates released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.” (READ IT HERE) However, while the rest of the US is doing well, here in New Mexico we are reported as the second most violent state.  According to USA TODAY:
2. New Mexico
Violent crimes per 100,000: 596.7
Population: 2,085,287
Total 2013 murders: 125 (21st lowest)
Poverty rate: 21.9% (2nd highest)
Pct. of adults with high school diploma: 84.3% (6th lowest)

New Mexico's violent crime rate rose 6.6% between 2012 and 2013 — the most in the nation — to nearly 597 per 100,000 residents.  The increase in violent crime came despite Governor Susana Martinez's avowal in 2011 to be tough on crime.  As in other dangerous states, the concentration of crime in New Mexico's larger cities may have contributed to the state's crime problem.  Albuquerque, for example, the state's largest city, had an estimated crime rate of 775 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, more than twice the national rate. New Mexico residents were also among the nation’s poorest in 2013, with a median household income of $43,872 and a poverty rate of nearly 22%.

Yes, Gov. Martinez has some culpability but the majority lies with good ol’ Berry.  The crime rate for us here in Albuquerque is twice that of the national average.  What has led to Albuquerque’s demise?  This all points at leadership, our mayor has lead Albuquerque down the wrong path, which has led to our city’s economic depression and the huge spike in the crime rate and a mass of police involved shootings.
It is true Berry has been “left holding the bag” at this point.  But Berry asked to be elected and re-elected so he doesn’t have the luxury of claiming poor me, he wanted to the job.  The deterioration has been in play for some time dating back several mayors from Jim Baca to Marty Chavez.  This all involved a series of bad or flawed decisions. (This topic is a story for another day.)
Now the question is how do we fix this?  How do we pull ourselves out of this cesspool that has been created by our “leaders”?  We need economic stimulus and growth in all sectors.  We need a better-rounded and educated workforce.
No one wants to come here and bring their business here when we are listed by the FBI as the second worst place in the United States of America. This brings us back down to square one. We need a real Chief of Police to provide true leadership and professionalism to the troops.  A real chief who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, clean house and restore APD to the once great department it was.  Eden was a political choice and a poor one at that.
Folks don’t respect the police anymore; public trust has been lost.  We can give the truth here and everyone can know it but nothing will change till the Mayor of Albuquerque feels the pressure from you, the tax paying voter.

Berry number lobby priority for Albuquerque is a return to double dipping!

No lobbying for a stimulus to Albuquerque's economy.

Berry is putting all his fruit in the double dipping basket. This makes no sense. On 770 KKOB Friday morning Berry stated that APD was within about 50 officers of being at max strength (1,000). So why the need for double dipping? Furthermore, almost all of the current APD officers in retirement or nearing it do NOT have college hours, something Berry wants for new hires. Add to that the fact that APD is a mess and do we really want to keep the current bunch of officers around? (ask the DoJ).

Berry lives in a weird place. He is a weird guy. Albuquerque has three more years of sliding further into the toilet.

Whoa, I'm sorry, what did Berry say staffing at APD was???

Richard Berry says Albuquerque is a safe town, he should ask the family of the man killed at the Coors / I40 Wal Mart this morning how safe they think this town is.

Berrysworld, he is one weird guy.

Double dipping is a PERA and NM Legislature decision not City Council and Berry. I can find 50 34s inside the main and FAC in 2 days.

What do you mean dangerous . Gilbert got us a 600sq. ft. Ice skating Arena and now he is working on a Mile long slip and slide. How can anyplace that has those two things be dangerous. More Berry cool aid anyone?

Thanks to KRQE, the APOA's little scheme of round a bout funding the defense of Perez and Sandy is being exposed. Willoughby has been trying to devise a million ways to get around the rules to raise money and pay for these two, which has never been done. This is a prime example of how officers in tactical and special units can do no wrong and the field gets shit on. More should make the meetings, and hear the bullshit being slung down there. The two stumps running things are trying really hard to get extra funds their way, and have been doing so for the last 8 months. Willoughby has told people this. KRQE, you should ask him this the next time you interview him. Ask him if he felt the union should find a way to pay for Sandy's legal defense.

Lets get the Right to Work Bill passed and put the final nail in the APOA coffin. This is enough already. once the bill passes we will all be free to leave.

You are weird. Just because someone (everyone) points out Berry's failures you go into right wing nut mode of attack.

Please defend Berry. Everyone would love to hear it. It doesn't matter if we are liberals or conservatives (or like most a mix of both). The truth is the truth and Albuquerque is sinking fast under Berry.

Answer: people who abuse the authority given to them and resist being held accountable.

Monkeyhead ??? Really ???

5:08,

Fact's are fact's. Susanna and Berry suck. Find some candidates with brains and Dems will take you more seriously. Find some candidates who don't take orders from rich out of State Midwesterners. These two morons make Sara Palin look smart.

This is not a liberal/conservative issue. THis is a safety issue. THis is a quality of life issue. This city is in desperate need of leaders in key positions (mayor, police chief) and we dont have them. I have been here almost 20 years. When I can retire, I am moving my family somewhere safe. I refuse to bring up my children in a place that has no initiative or desire to make itself a better place and it is apparent that politicians in this state are content to sit in the shit that they created. This will continue when the mayor is elected governor in a few years. And make no mistake, the citizens here will make that happen. Pathetic.

Eye, you said you were blocking inappropriate comments, then you published the word monkeyhead. You screwed up and let comments that were contributing be derailed by the likes of management yet again. Can you please not publish these juvenile comments that have nothing to do with the topic at hand?

Regarding the the Eye's comments: "It is true Berry has been “left holding the bag” at this point. But Berry asked to be elected and re-elected so he doesn’t have the luxury of claiming poor me, he wanted to the job. The deterioration has been in play for some time dating back several mayors from Jim Baca to Marty Chavez." Are you kidding?? The overwhelming majority, if not all, the deterioration of APD has occurred during the last five years thanks to Berry, Rob Perry, Darren White, Ray Schultz and Gordon Eden. APD thrived and excelled under Chavez: raises were give, the department grew and funding for training and equipment were always found. APD and rank and file were given preferential treatment over all other Departments under Chavez. You may have hated Chavez, but he knew how to run a City and he took care of APD. Compare the APD under Chavez to the one today under Berry and you will find a dramatic difference. There is only one person to blame now for the destruction of a once great department: RJ Berry

Fascinating statistics. Mayor Berry and all of his supporters should be very happy that Albuquerque and New Mexico, as a whole, spiral down the toilet into a war zone. Crime rampant, poverty rates through the roof, no economic development, the fat cats who bankroll the corruption are laughing all the way to the bank while the average citizen is hurting. I am a conservative that is embarrassed by our governor and mayor! The APD is symptomatic of the garbage that is burying a once excellent state.

Mister Perry...... Misses Levy....
Where were you two criminals at the DOJ meeting?
Oops... Oh Yea. Thats right. You weren't there.
Let me guess, you had previous engagements... A doctor's appointment maybe, or was it a root canal?
Don't be afraid you two. Face the music for trying to extort the district attorney. Oh, I forgot, that takes a spine. It must be nice to be able to intentionally break laws every day, then run away and hide from accountability like the cowards and criminals you are. It is funny how you worthless pathetic hypocrites fold at the slightest percentage of scrutiny you subject everyone else to. How does it feel now that it is finally catching up to you. How's that meltdown doing? How's that nervous breakdown? Is it worth it anymore? I am guessing pretty soon that you two will be the subject of an investigation or two. It will be interesting to see who your lawyers are. Every move you make confirms all of the treachery you have undertaken. Your circle of jerks is shrinking and everyone is watching now. Prison is calling. No puppies to pet there. No country clubs to drink wine in with Deputy Chiefs there. 2015 is really shaping up. What will Berry do when he runs out of lackeys? Maybe Gilbert the lisp will save him. What a weak pathetic bunch of pukes.

A week ago the city's most powerful and highest paid bigmouth ROB PERRY was lecturing DA Brandeburg about lady justice. Yesterday we got a taste of what kind of skirt wearing pussy Perry was. Judge Robert C. Brack called it a “potentially historic day” full of “great lawyering” but where was Perry at court yesterday? NOWHERE. Where was APD's lawyer Cathy Levy at this historic day? NOWHERE.

Anonymous said...

He said it was a day of great lawyering, not a day of acting like a perverted thug, or lying to the judge or defrauding the courts, or melodramatic theatrics, or temper tantrums, or barely functional in society alcoholics. So that is probably why duo of dirt skipped the festivities.

Today Perry says his command staff is entitled to bonuses just like rank and file because we need their mgmt. experience. What happened to the promoting up the ladder? Before double dipping and retention bonuses everybody retired at 20 and no big deal, lower ranking officers were promoted now we can't find Anyone with experience! What a crock!! Do your 20 and move on No one is that experienced that they can't be replaced. Just more Kool Aid

Most powerful???? Now that is funny. That little fairy is going to be lost when his gravy train runs out, and he no longer has shit to hide behind and no title to fall back on. That is all that turd is. Most men are what they have made of themselves. Not that guy. He is nothing but a grease spot and will drop off like the bag of shit he is when this administration is over.

And know this. Your APOA is in bed with him and Eden and they are selling you all down the river. Isn't that right Stephanie? Just ask her what she and the VP are keeping secret from you all. But by then there probably won't even be a union.

STephanie Lopez is the best lobbyist for Huntsman and the APD command staff.

Want proof? She dumped 27 of her own members so that the entire command staff, who are not members of the APOA, could get those retention bonuses. Stephanie has sure taken care of the APD command staff.

Here is a list of the APD command staff who are currently taking bonus money originally meant for their own officers, and who have misled the city council.

Les Brown $462 per pay period
Roseman $462 per pay period
Gonterman $231 per pay period
Rowe $231 per pay period
Whisonant $462 per pay period
Thies $231 per pay period
Huntsman $462 per pay period
Arturo Gonzalez $231 per pay period
Jeremy Mcrae $462 per pay period
Mike Miller $462 per pay period
Camacho $231 per pay period
Anthony Montano $462 per pay period
Hansen $462 per pay period
Banez $462 per pay period
Christman $462 per pay period.

Shame on every single one of you. At least Eden had the courage to stop taking it once it was determined that 27 low ranking APD (APOA members) were kicked out from receiving this bonus. What about the rest of you? Is this the greedy leadership we want to keep at APD? Almost all of you are directly responsible for the DoJ taking over the department, so do us all a favor and retire.

I hope every single APD command staff officer on this list has the courage to voluntarily give up this money and demand that officers with 17 years on be put back on the bonus list. Do what is right, not for your checkbook, but for your department. The Eye will be watching the City Council on February 2 when this is going to be addressed. Who among you has the courage to lead? Anyone?

Asshole perry could give a shit about experience. He wants those dirtbags kept in place because they have proven themselves as dishonorable, mindless sell outs who will lie and cover for him and the mayor. That is the experience he's talking about. It's hard to retain a good liar, who doesn't get camera shy, quit, retire or disappear when they get caught. Not one of them on that 5th floor knows what it is to be a true cop. That fat burreatooh eating pig in the Real Good Time Crime Center probably knows more than they do.

Yea, keep tent city and put this administration and their families in it because that is where they belong.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do us all a favor and take Berry's picture down. Ever time I pull up the Eye to read comments and have see that dumb looking face, bald head, slicked back hair on the sides and that 1970's porno star mustache with that little streak of white that looks like white snot, or some "other" bodily fluid, I just want to puke.

The APOA President position is up for re-election during the next bid. Anyone dare to challenge Stephanie?

Any retired APD officer will have a hard time moving into the private sector or even another agency. APS is infected with a bunch of loser mediocre nobodies from APD and have had nothing but trouble with these fools running it; now UNM is under fire from the DOJ and look who is running UNM PD. What has become of one of the best trained, innovative police Agencies in the country? The City council ought to give the Commanders on up a bonus check to leave, that way we wouldn't feel so disgusted with how our tax dollars are being wasted on retention of the problematic leadership!

If Berry had it his way, he woukd send in the gestapo to burn the tent city like they burnt the straw hooches in vietnam.

Why hasn't there been any comment on the New Yorker article on APD yet? Is it because it rightly points out that the "good" rank and file cops cover up for the criminals and thugs in APD, and that this culture of lawlessness and corruption at APD has been going on for 30+ years and that it isn't *only* the fault of the current command staff and past two administrations? Why is it that only former cops who have been burned by APD like Sam Costales are willing to admit these things?

Here is the article in question:

So now we are getting slammed in Rolling Stone and The New Yorker. Don't worry. The Mayor will just say it is liberal press.

The best part is Jeff Proctor bitching about the lack of whistle blowers. TJ bragged for years about him and his best friend Jeff. Hey Jeff, there are tons of us. We just know than to trust you you vial little backstabbing snake. You loved it when Ray leaked shit to you and now you want to complain how we don't blow the whistle to you. Bull shit. Every one of us blew the whistle loud and proud to the right people thanks to that poster saying the FBI would listen. I know Im one of over 2 dozen you idiot. Way to make people in Albuquerque keep thinking they should not come forward since they'll be the only one according to you. By your logic no crime happened in the SE last night because I wasn't there to see it.

We have a chance to rid ourselves of the APOA once and for all. Now is the time. These two have proven they fear the administration and refuse to lead. Stephanie saved herself from being fired by vowing to help the fifth floor at all costs. Enough. Willowby is a feeble-minded backstabber. We cannot recover from the damage they have caused. There's no need to run someone against Lopez. We just splinter it into a million pieces. They proved at the meeting that they are lying to us about everything. Now they are trying to help the mayor bring back the rehires. ENOUGH.

Wow, Berry plans to attend a world recored balloon flight while Albuquerque goes to all to hell. He won't comment on our sad state of affairs but can hop on a plane to celebrate a ballon flight. Shouldn't the Mayor be in Albuquerque to deal with the fall out from the Rolling Stone article rather than on a taxpayer funded trip to Los Cabos?
Now that all the major news agencies arrive in Albuquerque to report on your non caring of APD at least clean up the pigeon droppings around City Hall and the chicken *#it around the 5th and 11th floors.

Speaking of our Unions, I have to give a shout out to the AFSCME Local 18 for hanging in there with the bargaining process, suing the City (Berry, Perry, Levy) for not negotiating in good faith. The court sided with the Union and ordered the city back to the negotiating table to come up with a new contract. Thanks to the tenacity of Local 18, we have a new contract that gave up nothing, kept our worker rights in place and finally gave us a raise after 5 years .good job!

9:33,
That is what happens when you have union presidents and vice presidents who are not in the mayor, CAO, and police chief's pockets, who don't make back room deals in return for not being fired or lose their NMLE cert, or to get cush assignments down the road. This is also what happens when you don't have a weasel lawer representing the union who lies to it's members and executive board, and is a double agent for the city who also makes deals with the city behind the backs of union members. This is also what happens when you don't have criminal presidents and vice presidents who steal from the union, resign when they get caught and get prosecuted and convicted for their actions. This is what happens when you DO NOT have union presidents, vice presidents and lawyers who lie to their board and members about the severity of a pending law suit so serious that criminal charges will follow after the evidence comes to light. Yea, that's what happens. Now we will all see what happens when things do not go the right way.
