Distrust

KOAT reported Tuesday night on their 10:00 pm news that The Almighty Alcalde got pulled over and this time he actually got a ticket. The incident reportedly happened January 30th on Highway 84/285. Seems that Tesuque Pueblo is a little out of APD's jurisdiction so this time Marty had to make good on the citation - which he claims was for driving 11 an hour miles over the posted speed limit.

Almost immediately the rumors started flying. One had the Guv in the car with The Alcalde and according to the rumor, Big Bill was cited for open container. Another grapevine correspondence had Marty telling a local reporter that he was on a "pleasure cruise" with Margaret. Since there doesn't seem to be any love lost between the former first couple, it's hard to believe that Marty was cruising with Margaret anywhere. Even if he was... we'd be it wasn't pleasurable.

All of this got us thinking... what made Marty's encounter with a Tesuque magistrate news? The fact is there have been credible allegations that the mayor has been involved in everything from domestic violence to hit and runs. Yet, the Almighty One has skated or beaten every allegation despite the existence of tapes and transcripts. Apparently, it pays to have the Chief of Police as an at will employee.

With the Governor hip deep in the CDR controversy, Marty continually shadowed by various and sundry allegations, Manny Aragon and company convicted, and apparently indictments coming down any day for former Secretary of State, Rebecca Vigil-Jiron, Rebcca Vigil-Jiron - you can't write it just once - it's getting harder and harder to trust our elected officials. It certainly seems that the same characters from the same circles have been running this state for generations. We the voters seem to be living the definition of insanity - we keep electing the same people and expecting different results.

We keep wondering when this caldron of distrust will finally boil over and result in a real house cleaning. It's hard to believe when this state is called one of the most corrupt in the union and the Speaker of the House Ben Ray Lujan shares his office at the roundhouse with a lobbyist that owes almost as much to the IRS as Treasury Secretary Tim Geitner.

The Legislature can create as many ethics laws as they want. Until the people who hold office are ethical, the corruption will continue. We as voters bear the responsibility of removing the scoundrels who use their elected position for personal gain. Until we elected ethical leaders, there will be no ethics in government.

I moved here from another state four years ago and can't believe how corrupt NM and Abq's Gov and Mayor are. Why do you people keep electing these morons?

What the eye needs to do is take out a billboard close to the Mayors election giving Abq citizens the chance to read this blog, which lists all the BS/corruption the Mayor pulls in this city.

I am sure if you collect money you would have no trouble getting it for the bill board. I am sure many other people running for office would also help.

Abq, you need to stop this wide spread corruption, it's like a wildfire/cancer in this state. Start by cleaning up your city first, as it appears to be the worst. Dirty politicians from the Mayor to the Chief of Police. This city is unreal! No wonder why Abq is so unsafe! These politicians don't care about their citizens, only padding their wallets.

Vote them out! It's time for a complete house cleaning.

You always hear there are all these allegations against the Mayor and everyone has proof but you never see the proof. It's kind or like Big Foot. It's just a fuzzy picture. I thought the Mayor was honorable in admitting he made a mistake. If it was the governor, he would of jummped out of his chair and refused to answer questions.

It has been reported that Chavez was in a city car, filled up with city gas, on personal time, when he got the ticket.

Isn't the company car for company business?

I would add that until cops start fulfilling their oaths instead of letting other cops, firefighters, buddies, political officials, etc skate on traffic violations, misdemeanors, and even felonies, ethics laws won't matter.

It will never make any sense to me how cops can morally or ethically justify their flagrantly selective enforcement of the law. If you've ever let someone off even for a minor traffic or parking violation because they were a fellow cop, a buddy, or just some hot chick, you're part of the problem.

I am sorry, but you guys are way off on this one. Its all lies, lies, lies. The eye is usaully a good read but you are wrong on this one. The Mayor was speeding and did pay his ticket. End of story. At least he had the gerth to say he was speeding and paid it. Find another story Mr. Eye

Distrust in the city overall is at an all time high. As a city employee, I watch as managers and directors of my department make clueless decisions all the time. BUT they're top level management so it's allright for them to do so. why do they tell us over & over again that we have to take comp time instead of overtime pay. Legally, they cannot force us to take the comp time, so why to they give us the spiel whenever we have to work a holiday? Save your voices, managers, we have plenty of vacation time, what we want is the PAY to feed our families & pay our bills, 'cuz we don't make the huge salaries like you all do!!!

If all the clerical/blue collars went on strike, I wonder how much those pencil-neck pencil pushers could accomplish!
And that includes the Mayor, as well.

Okay this goes to the blogger that wrote the mayor paid the ticket, end of story. What would happen to another city employee should they do the same thing. Their employee files would show some sort of violation or reprimand for such behavior. As well, they could lose their driving priveleges. And I am sure the mayor would order an investigation into just what they were doing. But because he is the one in violation, he gets off with just paying the fine and no further action is required. I'm sorry, but the higher up you go in authority, shouldn't your accountability rise as well???

Its not selective enforcement. Its called discrecion. Officers exercise it all the time...like when they stop someone for speeding who knows they were wrong from the start and apoligizes for thier mistake. Maybe its the elderly lady that hasnt ever had a citation. I can tell you this much having been an officer in other states. The citizens here are about as rude as they come when confronted by law enforcement. Many will immediately start being confrontational and then end by threatening with law suits and IA complaints. Those that are respectful have a much better chance of skating without a ticket...as does other officers who are respectful. GET IT NOW. Stop bitching about this subjuct if all you want to do is show the cops how much power you possess as a citizen. YOULL GET OVER IT.

Ask Marty who Christine Parker is*

So, why did the Mayor cover up his hit and run???? I have friends that responded to that accident. So don't say he always does the right thing. He only does it when he can't get out of a jam. He had no stroke in another city where he does not control the Police
chief. That's Justice that he could not buy or control! That cop should be given a medal.

The mayor is a dirty as they come!

Strike Then and lets see !!!!
All talk !!!!!!!

Whatever! Marty does not adhere to the same standards and/or rules & policies that he makes the rest of us city employees adhere to!! It's his F'ked up double at-will standard and it sucks and we want a leader that will "walk the walk" not just "talk the talk". He's a washed up little puke and it's time to clean house, starting with him & his patrons. And I want to know why he hired a highly paid top executive while the city is in such financial dire straights?
Can any of you Marty lambe ass-kissers answer that?

Proof, how bout this food for thought. Ask former Union Presidents about when they spoke up and all of the sudden everything turns into an internal affairs investigation. Sometimes keeping a job to feed your family against a corrupt system seems to be the only option. When the Marty Chavezs' and the Darren Whites' do whatever it takes to bolster their name sake. Sometimes you have to roll over and play dead. If you don't they use their power to say they told you no such thing, only to lie ot the media and put the blame on you. (Rolhfs was innocent)

What do you think of John Castillo?

Anonymous said...

It's close to election time. Marty will be making all sorts of offers. Lets see what he gives the greeks?

Greeks - Aren't they the ones that have been building Condo's in Nob Hill. There is trash all over the streets and sidewalks. They park blocking the roads.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Isn't Christine Parker related to Peter Parker?

Isn't Nob Hill turning in to a ghost town. Who buys that junk anyways.
