The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Eye Poll: Wrong Move

After several weeks and almost 1,000 votes, Eye readers have spoken... Keeping the Old Cheif (Now New Chief) was a mistake. In our unscientific survey, a whopping 73% of participants felt that keeping APD Chief Ray Schultz was not the right decision. Only 23% felt that keeping the chief was the right move and 4% didn't know (view it here).

There are reasons that incoming executives clean house - particularly after a formerly entrenched administration. If you truly want to change the rules of the game you have to change the players.

Mayor Berry is confronting at least a $24 MILLION deficit created by the Chavez administration's out of control spending. Without a rapid recovery, there will have to be some difficult cuts - cuts that will not be popular. How do you fix a spending problem when many of the spenders are still in positions to spend?

Fortunately, the new mayor has run a business and does understand finances. However, only time will tell whether he will be able to clean up the mess over at APD - a mess that the chief has an interest in keeping hidden.

Fine !!!!
Till you got to the part about running a business & understands finance. He started a business that went in the crapper. His wife has the successful business. If it weren't for that he'd be driving a Schwan's food delivery truck.
He hasn't a CLUE how to run anything let alone a city.
This is the baseball game plain and simple:
His leaders in Darren and Campbell will be his demise.

Year one; first base
Year two; second base
Year three; third base
Year four; OUT AT HOME PLATE !!!!!!
The End

You will get over it said...

O.K. Marty we get it... We will see you again in 4 years.... MAYBE!

I spent considerable time unofficially campaigning for Berry. I told friends, family members ( very large family ) and citizens to vote for Berry because I felt he would CLEAN UP APD by getting rid of the administration that has cost taxpayers over a million dollars in lost lawsuits. These lawsuits could have been avoided if the APD administration would not have violated the APD contract and not resorted to retaliation against its officers for simply telling the truth and expressing their opinions. On that note.........GO MARTY or whomever else runs against Berry in the next mayoral election!!!!!!

What Change????? said...

A New Chief means absolutely NOTHING... just ask AFD they got a New Chief and guess what... NOTHING has changed.

Chief Breen is being led or shall I say mislead by the same staff Ortega had.

Chief Breen has been saddled with some very Anti-Union Deputy Chiefs, and they are doing all they can to spread miss information about The Union, and blaming their lack of leadership, and or decision makeing skills on Diego, and The Union.

I say just because you get a new Chief does not mean you get new ideas, leadership, and or Command Staff.

Same shit, different day within AFD.

Breen the guy with alot of ideas, but he has been handcuffed with a bunch of sour grape Deputy Chiefs who are still disgruntled about not getting a(n) interview for the Chiefs spot.

The Deputy Chiefs are out to create discord amongst the Union membership, dissension between Fire Administration, and the Union, thus makeing Chief Breen look bad.

The only one who can make this right is Mayor Berry, and Darren White.

Reclassify the Deputy Chief spots, and send them packing. If you can't do that then give them a spray can, and Hydrant wrench and send them out to do Hydrant inspections otherwise Mayor Berry you've just set Chief Breen up to fail miserabley.

Mayor Berry sold his soul when he brought in Darren White and retained Ray Schultz. Both are scumbags in my opinion. I would love to see their IA files. Berry ran on the platform of change and he LIED!!! Citizens of Albuquerque beware!!!

Anonymous said...

I can feel your pain. I too campaigned for berry and was excited for a fresh start in AFD. He at least changed the chief but all of the chiefs former deputies are staying and they are the ones who ran the show. Ortega didnt have the smarts to do it. I tried to give the new chief a chance and low and behold pay to play. It seems that a Berry transition team member is about to land a fat contract to teach out at the fire academy. Didnt take long for true colors to come out......

Have a nice four years BERRY you will not win again!

The 24 million deficit? That's odd? Marty was planning a downtown arena at 400 million, a Trolley at 400 million with what money?

First, does anybody know if the 24 deficit is a tactic to cut spending and projects that cost 400million? Just a theory. Berry, the Republican wants to reduce spending... so, saying there is a 24 million deficit works in his favor. First, the deficit that Marty left behind and basically lied about shows just that. Marty won't be running again in 4 years because the people don't forget about all that he did while in office!

My predictions: The first year... Berry will watch spending. He will show up at all the right events and places, "lighting Old Town lights... etc..." The second year... Berry will want to plan something in the City and will be trying to get City Council's approval. It is that "leave his mark," sorta thing. Third year.... Berry will be building something in the City and putting his Construction experience to use. Fourth year... if no scandel, then he will win again as Mayor.

Anonymous said...

Chief Schultz stayed because Darren White recommeded to Berry to keep Schultz believing that Schultz was merely acting under the evil, "Marty's" direction. "Marty" chose Schultz, a Republican as Chief hoping to appeal to the Republicans during the election. Darren believes that it created opportunity for the Republican... which is why Winter and Lewis fought so hard to not have Cambell as City Administrator. Remember, Darren is the guy who made people sign promise notes that he or she will vote for Bush upon attending Bush's political gatherings in 2004 and were not allowed in until he or she did. So, Darren some say was being politically overzealous... others say.... he couldn't help a Democrat in need which is why he lost the Congressional position to Heinreich.

Berry keeps Schultz and now he isn't going to change the Sanctuary City policy?!

Berry, Campbell, White and Schultz are a bunch of filthy LIARS!!!

Write about Sanctuary City, Eye. People need to know that they were lied to!

It's one thing to campaign against someone and loose; it's quite another to campaign for someone who wins and the results are the same.

Anonymous said...

New Mayor same old crap.
Manny Aragon will be out in for years Albuquerque can elect him next.

Anonymous said...

Berry isn't getting rid of Sanctuary City? I find that hard to believe. It was the centerpiece of his campaign.

Anonymous said...

Better believe it, tonto. White made the announcement when he was groveling in front of the Council. Sanctuary City is here to stay.

Viva AlbuRquerque! Viva la Ciudad de Sanctuario! Viva Aztlan!!

RJ don't read this blog !
Well why not Darren? Well, uh, you might read something you don't like.
RJ better start reading this. it's the only way You'll find out what's really going on.
Cancel the newspaper subscription; Ray & Darren have a lock on that since new PIO Wilhelm is controlling that.
What a bunch of saps the voters were.

Anonymous said...

Berry you lost your base supporters! Keep that in mind when you run again....

Anonymous said...

What is really scary is that Darren White is the head guy in charge of this City's Public Safety. Ask him what the DPS fiasco was all about. Better yet just ask Gary Johnson.
At least Albuquerque HAD a Mayor who knew what was going on.
Darren will keep Berry totally in the dark and TJ will see that nothing gets in the news they don't him to know about. How dumb.
We're laughing our asses off. Good luck Albuquerque

Wow. Brad Arhensfeld (sic? who cares) is indicted and nary a word from the almighty eye?

Not even a sprained elbow patting yourself on the back with an i told you so post? It certainly would cause some of the haters to give pause before calling bullshit on your information.

How about this instead? Go on hiatus for a couple weeks during an important story and give the space to anti-global warming, climategate, drill baby drill, did you watch SNL and their hilarious cold open, victor borge referencing, china's gonna kill us all posts from a psycho that has nothing to do with ALBUQUERQUE. Oh wait. You're already doing that. Nevermind, keep up the solid job.

This is Paul J. Heh. I AM requesting a meeting with Mayor Berry this week. I have alot of questions and a few things to get off my chest. I hope Mayor Berry grants the meeting. I am not going to listen to rumors. I would like to get some answers. I do believe that Mayor Berry as every elected offical has to keep in mind they work for us and to carry out our will. I will let you know if I am granted the meeting. I believe it will be. On another topic Dawne Roberto and I went to see Norman about the court overtime. It appears that he is right on track and working very hard to make sure no one is skipped over or not paid what is owed. Norman is not at D.A.L. any longer. Dont go there to check if you are on the list. D.A.L. Ladies yelled at me. Sorry ladies. Norman is now at A.P.D. payroll. GO there to check the list.

Meeting? that's a laugh. He'll avoid that like the plague.
He'll past the buck to TJ to take appointments and if it's not too heavy he might visit.
Berry will be shielded from anyone with a bone to pick. They will keep him fat, dumb and happy; in other words 'in the dark'.

Anonymous said...

Berry you really know how to pick them. Darren White just made a fool out of you and will probably run against you next term. He will turn on you and you deserve it for being just plain STUPID!!! I heard the city lost another law suit for excessive force. Please do yourself a favor and get rid of those two.

Anonymous said...

I like Darren, but he got up today in front of a bunch of us and said he and Ray were going to be in Santa Fe everyday of the legislative session getting an exemption from the ending of the double dipping law.

He said public safety has to be exempted.

Why? If doesn't he realize that if there were double dipping 20 years ago, APD would not have hired him. He would not be where he is. Schultz said that we have so many officers and applicants that APD picks from the cream of the crop. So why do we need these double dippers? None of them are so important that an younger officer could not do their job! This is BS and I hope everybody starts calling their legislator and the governor to tell them NO EXEMPTIONS!! End this horrible law or we will end up with more people unemployed because they can't get a job because a double dipper is in that position.

I really think that law enforcement in New Mexico corrupt. Not at the officer level but at the higher levels. There is pay to play. Support the chief and you get to double dip. Support the chief and you get a high paying contract job when you retire. We need to end all of this. Law Enforcement needs a total cleaning. The first step is stop the double dipping.

So what can be done for the mistake?

Nothing?

berry didn't change sanctuary city? were still a sanctuary city? can someone from apd or the berry office clear this up?

Anonymous said...

Ok, so in 2004, Darren White insisted that every person entering a Political Rally sign a promise note that he or she will vote for Bush. Well, did any body tell Darren that breaking the promise to love, honor and obey his wife is also a promise to keep? Who knows if Darren was cheating in 2009, then probably (in my opinion) was cheating in 2004, too!
Darren White's promise is worthless like a bad check that bounces! All those people who you like McCarthy and McCarthyism forced to sign statements on voting for Bush in 2004 is just fates way of kicking you in the butt! All those who didn't vote the way you forced them to vote in a statement/promise note are just doing what you did with your own wife (in my opinion) which is ignoring a promise and doing what he or she wants instead!

I saw Berry on TV doing the toy drive. He looks more like a manager of a K-mart. New Mayor with new ideas! GOOD LUCK!

Mayor Berry is planning to privatize a lot of city departments. Bet on it. It's starting already in some depts. Take a look at "un"cultural services, transit for example. The temporary workers outnumber the city workers there. Berry will attempt to run the city like a business, a lean machine so to speak. don't know what you 34's are complaining about: public safety is the only "sacred cow" anymore. Even city security will likely take a hit!

Anonymous said...

Paul Hey please go away

Anonymous said...

I hope Berry does privatize the city. I have never seen so many lazy unhelping people. They are overpaid and underworked. Most of the people in Plaza Del Sol dress like there on vaction in there backyard, jeans, flip flops, t-shirts. All the employees visit one another from department to department all day long. Half the building leaves early every friday.
Ever heard of being professional?
Go for it Mayor! Clean house!

Anonymous said...

SO the question what is Berry going to to about the situation with that POS Ed Adams? It's kind of like terrorisim when you think about it, what Marty did with those last minute contracts. COA is stuck with losers pulling down high dollar salaries. Marty is a terrorist. It would cost the city (taxpayers) so much more just to fight those contracts. Can't Campbell come up with something?

Paul Heh, please stay!!!

Any word on the "Christmas Surprise" from the 5th floor....I finally saw Duke City Bloos and caught Ray's little hint.....so what's up with 4-10's????

Anonymous said...

The eye is a sham!

Anonymous said...

To 12/20/09 10:42--I don't know how many other city depts. you have visited, but in my dept. people come in early, work off the clock, don't take their full lunch hours, miss breaks and stay until after closing time. These people work their tails off every single day, and they don't put in for OT. As for Plaza Del Sol, I don't know what dept. is housed there, but if you feel so strongly about it, why don't you make a formal complaint? Oh snap! you "work" there!!!

Anonymous said...

WTF my dept comes in early, works hard, blah blah blah. Maybe in Shangri-la. Here in the good ol' City of ABQ I haven't seen it. Why not file a complaint? Because the same lazy jackasses not working are the ones who will "investigate" it. You have your guaranteed retirement, shut up and go back to sleep. Thank you to those few who do there job and are helpful.

No break, no luch, working overtime with out getting paid. Get real!
They dress like gang members have there shirts hanging out. Have their colors hanging from the mirrors of city vehicles. Drive around talking on cell phones, parked on the side streets or empty parking lots sleeping. Oh that's right, your all related.
If you have not noticed this, you most be wearing blind folds at work. I feel sorry for the few honest employees that do work at the city.
Time to clean house, Berry

Genius, think fast: How do you spell Paul Heh? (Hint: it's not Paul Hey) Maybe we should worry about having officers who are ready to jump on other officers when they know very little. Merry Christmas

...not all of us sit hear and post and wait to see who reads this drivel. I know it's the most important thing of your day but please, surely you can find something more interesting to do.

Anonymous said...

Let Lawrence retire out. He's a cool dude.

Anonymous said...

How can Lawrence retire? He is not in the police plan, as he is director of labor relations. That means he would have to work 25 years for retirement. I am pretty sure he did not come on in 1984? I sure hope us citizens are getting stuck, again, with one of Marty's deals where we have to buy Lawrence's years to get him to retirement.

Does anybody know? This needs some daylight put on it.

Anonymous said...

I would be willing to bet that Torres has the same deal as Mr Ed Adams.

Being that Mr Adam's letter from Mr, Perlman was never recorded, I would be willing to bet that maybe this so called letter was very recently drafted and back dated by Mr Perlman! This trick would not be beyond them.

Who cares how you spell his name Heh, Hay, Hey. It should be spelled Hay he has enough straw going through his pea brain. LMAO

lawrence retires this week and his rate of pay as a police officer is 39 59 an hour which means he will retire at that rate of pay. he applied to apd and was rejected he went to open space, marty got him into apd with the merger and then lawrence went to work for him. this is unreal.

Anonymous said...

39.59 an hour? holy shit! thats almost commander pay, not too shabby lawrence, you sure made out like a bandit in the end.

Anonymous said...

there were plenty of old timers who tried to warn about lawrence torres, but they were shut down by the APOA Board. The board was more in loyalty with non apd lawrence, than they were with their own. They got what they paid for.

Are any of those board members even around anymore?

Nick Bakas allowed the Open Space Officers in and tried to get Airport as well, but Federal Money stopped him! Several ranking officers tried stopping him, but lost.

Anonymous said...

You are real stupid if you think it was Nick Bakas and you are giving alot of credit to Nick but hate to take you off your high horse Nick had nothing to do with it. In order for OPEN SPACE to join APD AND THAT IS OUR CONTRACT APOA and yes our union we the union members of the APOA vote them in. go get a clue!!!!!!
AND YES THERE IS A MOU UNITING THEM WITH APD. Just to give you a small clue open space /officers were city employees and still are and Nick did not bring them in! guess what APD are also city employees it the APOA contract that allows them to be APD and yes there are several APD officers in opens space but then again open space is no longer just open space it is APD space lol. Several of us members said no!!!!! but the yes votes got them in so now us no voters are laughing our asses off!
