The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. A quietly suffered loss

While our city was in turmoil last week, over many negative issues, we suffered a loss. Many people went about their business, concerned about their little world, while a man who made the world much better for so many quietly passed away.

Over the years, in Albuquerque, many of the homeless have been given a chance to eat, bathe, get a change of clothes, and gain shelter from the elements in New Mexico’s largest homeless shelter; Joy Junction. It is located on 2nd street, south of Rio Bravo. The help didn’t stop there, because the staff of this shelter also provided services to get these folks back onto their feet, and a means of staying on their feet.

Every year during the holidays, Joy Junction brings some cheer to the homeless community, by providing holiday dinners.

It was never odd to hear officers ask if Joy Junction was open over the air, when weather was inclement or someone less fortunate needed help.

Over the years, Joy Junction has given those who just needed a hand or a break, the place they needed to take a breather, and catch up. Many of those addicted to narcotics, or alcohol were able to get the help they needed. This shelter has even helped law enforcement by providing a place for officers to take the needy for assistance. Joy Junction has provided an invaluable service to our community since 1986, when it was founded by Jeremy Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds overcame homelessness in order to obtain a PhD., and give back to our community, after he himself emigrated here from England, and for that, we are thankful.

As many know, Wednesday, July 11th Dr. Jeremy Reynolds passed away at a young 60 years old. You wouldn’t have even known he was suffering, as he never mentioned it.

We here at the Eye would like to ask that everyone remember a truly selfless person who gave his all, without asking for, or expecting anything in return; an unpretentious, and genuine human being who truly cared about his fellow man, just because it was the right thing to do.

We would like to extend our condolences to those of Joy Junction. We are truly very sorry for your loss.

Many should take example from this mans life.

Truly our loss.
