A couple of weeks ago we asked, "what is the most important belief that a candidate for elected office can have?" We were curious what our readers would say. 3% said environmental responsibility, 7% social responsibility, 1% change, 8% security, 30% personal freedom and liberty, 5% none of the above, 47% all of the above (read the poll here).
In light of today's culture it should come as no surprise that most wanted it all. What was most encouraging is that 30% said that a belief in personal freedom and liberty was the most important quality in a candidate - without freedom nothing else matters. As a voter you might want to consider that before casting your vote. Forcing environmental or social responsibility on others is its own kind of tyranny. Security in defense of freedom is essential, but when it comes at the cost of liberty it too is tyranny.
This week we take a look at the Almighty Alcalde's Downtown Arena. Do we really need a 12,000 seat arena? Particularly since there's no anchor tenant and no proven means of supporting the taxpayer funded venture. Don't forget to vote!

Looks like the APD crime lab is going to make the news again this week...it's big. Jobs will be on the line. Stay tuned.
Can't wait. I'm all-a- tither.
PAUL HEH FOR MAYOR! Finally, someone to clean up APD!
Thanks for sharing, now back on point, this is yet another sad effort on the part of the Mayor to "revitalize" downtown. Face it folks, downtown is beyond revitalizing. All it is, is rows of "college kid" bars, over-priced restaurants and WAY overpriced lofts. Please, who the hell would pay 1/4 - 1/2 a million to live on the corner of Broadway & Central. We can't even keep Tingley open and he wants a new arena? What's he smokin???
I hope they are considering parking spaces ..... Walking the gauntlet of patrol officers 3 to 10 blocks to watch a show is getting old ..... I don't care being bussed either ..... especially at the high prices of admission!
So much for the accreditation...who let this happen??
Damn this place is jacked up. And now the crime lab? Great, just great. I think I may have to turn to a life of crime, cuz it sure doesn't seem like anything will ever happen to me here, and if or when they do get after me, I'll just scoot across the border and then come back in awhile. By then the evidence will be gone and any testing that has been done at the lab will be tainted. Nice.
Who is paying for Marty's ego ads on the radio? His moronic "Q Tips"? Sheesh. What an ego-maniac. I knew he never saw a camera he didn't like, but I didn't know it was going to be extended to microphones too.
Why can't Chief Schultz give the crime stories instead of standing like a Bobble Head beind the Almight Alcalde? I don't see Smarty Marty wearing a badge...yet.
geez at least the teasers on tv have results in a couple days,,,sounds like the crime lab thing is bs.
