The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. A Way Out

The fallout from last week's national election continues. While Democrats vie for positions on Congressional staffs and/or the Obama administration, Republicans have seen their crushed under the weight of Hurricane Obama. APD Chief Ray Schultz falls into that latter category.

According to our Eyes, the beleaguered chief had his sights set on a position on the White Congressional staff. Of course there's only one problem with Ray's plan - the White Congressional staff ended up being the Heinrich Congressional staff.

The Eyes have it that Schultz has become shall we say weary of leading New Mexico's largest police department. It's understandable that the chief would be looking for Congressional parachute considering the rumors of yet another APOA no confidence vote, increasingly tense relations with the Almighty Alcalde, and well... a bothersome little blog known by APD brass as "the site."

Schultz's tenure hasn't exactly been without controversy. He was responsible for bringing the RedFlex Scam-era system to our fair city. Property crime and violent crime have been on the rise. He has repeatedly failed to meet staffing goals. There are rumblings of yet another Evidence Room Scandal. And who can forget his move to 5-8s to um... "reduce response times."

It'll be interesting to see if the Chief finds another way out. He leads a department that by and large would like to see the back of him and works for the Almighty Alcalde who will show him the door if he becomes a political liability. Times are tough and we're not just talking the economy here.

I tell you what, the Chief must really be hating his officers right now. They are "Right" and he is "Wrong" on 5-8's and more. Now he has to cut back 1.5 million dollars and is thinking about not letting this cadet class graduate just to save money. Going back to 4-10's would save the city 100's of thousands of dollars on gas per day with just that one day off. Plus not to mention saving money on officers who have to stay over because there is no relief. Good job Chief, just fold, admit you were wrong and we were right.

Well, it's not only your police club that has no confidence in him, It is the public that knows of the corruption in the department that has no faith in his leadership. No wonder the flock acts the way they do!

Schultz is responsible for the red light camera system? I thought thought came from the politicians and he was just charged with implementing it.

Schultz is getting what he deserves! I guess Heinrich has no room for a guy who needs grecian formula hahahahaha!

The Mayor is a smart, and shrewd politician! He will not make a move against the Chief until he's sees some concrete polling numbers in the next Mayoral election i.e.(negative press, and or votes) that would influence the outcome of his reelection.

Chief Schultz will not become Martys (Lil' Bush) like Darren was tied to President Bush. I think this site has brought some things to light i.e. ("We have been stacking calls", and "Crime is not up, it's just more people are reporting crime".)

Marty will only make a move out of political expediency and to give the perception of being in touch with the people he serves, especially after the "Peoples" mandate for accountability in the Federal elections. The Officers of APD, and the voters are looking at the Chief of APD in the same fashion.

Turn up the heat and demand a change, get your Union to back you, get all your friends and family, also other politicians to make Marty look in another direction for APD.

Well lets start with both the mayor and chief denying to the public that there is no gang problem. Does it take the Top LEO in LA County to bring that to light.... Both have continually downplayed the problem and continue to downplay the solution....They are both grasping at straws and clinging to what little hope they have left.....But this is not the right time for the vote.....Why not wait til middle of next year...when they show their hands...Then and only then will this vote have a impact..Right now it will be last page news..instead of the front page that everyone wants.... Time is on our hands..Plus the Police have a PPC that the city realizes it will lose...Patience...

I agree. We need to wait to see what happens. A NO confidence at this place in time will have no effect. We must be patient and wait until next years election for Mayor and City council to be effective

There is never a wrong time for a vote of no confidence.

Silence gives consent.

Shultz is bad for APD. All he worries about is how much money he makes. Shultz does not care about his officers or the citizens of Albuquerque.

In fact, the chief thinks the Mayor is a little tyrant and has said that in several closed door meetings with his staff. Mayor, the chief thinks your a idiot in a suit and have no idea what being a cop is all about. He will never tell you that, but that is what he thinks.

Ok, so the first mistake was actually thinking that Darren White would be voted into office. He too was looking at a vote of no confidence by his troops. The only reason it was not done and he was able to secure an endorsement from the association was because everyone wanted to get rid of him!! Chief Shultz, don't put all your eggs in one basket... especially when the Farmer(White) can't run a 300 man department, let alone go to Washington because he thinks he has good hair!

i couldnt agree with the above posters more. the mere fact that the mayor and chief know this is a realistic possibility is enough (for now). there will however come a time for it. especially if marty wants an apoa endorsement this time around. he will have little choice but to give us a new chief we can all rally around!!!!! stand by ur guns all. ur union is infact stepping up. its just a matter of timing and getting the most bang for the buck. dont forget that the chief has the right to pull ur take home car with a 45 day notice. that will be the only result you see out of a no confidence vote right now.

This APD Chief will cost Mayor Chavez his re-election. Mark my words on that! The Chief is just to major a liability for the Mayor.

So Ray bringing down the mayor and both of them gone would be a bad thing? Please, it is a wet dream the likes of which we haven't had since we were 12. I can't wait for the day to come. If not, I'm moving out of this town before someone in my family gets hurt, the place is going straight into the sewer, it's not a fit place to live any more. When you can't go out of your house at night, when your parents can't go to the drugstore without an armed escort, when you aren't safe in your home without someone breaking in while you are there, it's time to go. And there are more of us than there are of Marty and Ray. Remember that and VOTE!

The Mayor is a libability to the City of ABQ. How about the Air Port Observation Deck, the Balloon Mausoleum, and now the proposed Down Town Arena for $400 MILLION? How about those tax breaks to Eclipse Aviation? When is enough enough?

Say what you want about Darren having no confidence from officers, etc., BUT if you didn't vote for him because you don't like the way he runs the Sheriff's Office or don't like his hair (jealous??), LOOK AT THE ALTERNATIVE: MARTIN F'ING HEINRICH!!!.....need I say more???

Anonymous said...

Forcing the overworked and underpaid detectives to work 9 hr days is ludacrious. he is a complete liar in regards to 4-10s. lets get 4-10s back and lets vote no confidence!

Anonymous said...

Darren should resign as Sheriff, he is never there anyways!!! America got change, now we want it.... New Chief, new Sheriff... at this point Geraldine Amato would be better than White!

"This APD Chief will cost Mayor Chavez his re-election. Mark my words on that! The Chief is just to major a liability for the Mayor."

How in the hell did you slip through the police academy??

TVI offers basic English 101!

You got it all wrong. Ray ain't going nowhere. Marty owes him big. Marty owes A LOT of the pd. You might know some of them. Their called depty chiefs and area commanders. Dantis knows the score.

"There is never a wrong time for a vote of no confidence."

If there was every a more exaggerated and mis represented comment, well this on is it. There is a wrong time and this is the WRONG time. I don't know bout you but, I for one will not be responsible for helping the 5th floor take away my car and provide them with even more ammunition to batter us. I would re-think your above statement and think about the big picture. Just ask the CPOA, they are squirming ever since they pulled the DA's endorsement and are looking for all sorts of help. Those poor CIB Detectives are feeling her THUNDER right now....

Wait till Marty finds out about this!

"This APD Chief will cost Mayor Chavez his re-election. Mark my words on that! The Chief is just to major a liability for the Mayor."

By that definition he's a great Chief! Keep Schultz, Fire Chavez or as said in other posts....Muck Farty!!!!

Amato for Sheriff!!!

Hey eye, Isn't there something better to post about? I am in need of more interesting topics. AFD had some good stuff on KRQE...

Instead of bitching and whining I would recommend trying to be the best officer on the department. Just look around, Eclipse Aviation can't make payroll, Linens and Things is closing, Mervyns is closing, American Furniture is closing all but one store, a number of jurisdictions are looking at laying off police and fire, NYPD didn't just postpone a class of 1100 new cadets they cancelled it!

Take my car if it will save my job. Things are tough and we need to start recognizing that the world does not revolve around the police and we are not above being reduced or laid off.

So stop complaining about little stuff and be happy to be working. There are thousands (8% nationwide) that are out of work.

I'd like to see Marty gone just as much as anyone here, but can anybody point out a viable candidate to oppose him?

Interesting story about seizure in the Albuquerque Journal this morning. It appears that the police in this state are doing very well for themselves .... on someone elses expense! You are certainly setting some unusual standards concerning our system of law (Thanks Ray & Darren). The drafters of the federal & state constitutions were trying to keep us safe from people like you!

Great posts and most are so true.

Smarty can’t get rid of Schultz, he knows too much. Also how ‘bout that great Fire Chief Ortega, using city workers at his house to do work on city time and it’s not the 1st time. Just the 1st time someone tipped Larry B. Any other city worker would have been fired. Ortega has the goods on Smarty and bought his position. He’s as dumb as a box of rocks and is the original “Yes” man to the Mart. The mighty Alcalde can’t get rid of either one of the Chief’s.

Unfortunately a lot of the posters are right, that a no confidence vote would mean retaliation!

.... Don't forget .... All the bars are closing ..... and putting people out of work .... I wonder who is contributing to that? ..... It could certainly raise some quick cash for our community if they weren't always being harassed!!

Ray is a liar.
5-8s were just for the 6th command.
he is not paying detectives, he is not paying graveyard.
he does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants, because he can. the officers are letting him.
at what point do the officers stand up and say NO MORE. I know.November 20

Gotta love the front page of the Journal. What timing TJ and Ray have, just before vote of no confidence. The article makes it look like we are whiners because of the work schedule.TJ says response times are down because of the schedule. Ray, you are such a liar and TJ is a little journalistic puppet.

Check this out. Talk about abuse of power, Schultz has nothing on Ortega. We need to get together and get rid of these three bums-Chavez, Schultz and Ortega. http://www.topix.net/forum/source/krqe/TPCBFNOV94ICD627U
