The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Eye Poll: Keep Your Arena

Not surprisingly, Eye readers overwhelmingly rejected the idea of a downtown arena in our most recent Eye Poll. It's a project that would certainly pay tribute to the mayor of Albuquerque but would do it's citizens little good and shackle them with an almost unending drain on their tax dollars.

69% of Eye readers said no to an arena (a few said "hell no") in our unscientific poll while only 28% said yes (view it here). As usual, a few people (3%) didn't know.

This week we're looking at what seems to be the interminable years of the Chavez administration. As expected for so long a reign, there have been a number of scandals involving The Almighty Alcalde. Pick your favorite in this week's Eye Poll!

Which gives us an idea... If you've got a favorite Chavez administration scandal, send it to us at editor@eyeonalbuquerque.com. We'll publish our favorites in the coming weeks.

come on eye, lets get a real blog please. Are you supporting Romero or Berry. Put a vote out. This is too much. How about a story on helping find out who the parents of the little 3 yr old found dead. Lets get into the real deal.

Don't we all get it? It's the ECONOMY, STUPID!

No time to be thinking arenas, trolley cars, teen palaces, etc.

We are stretched to the limits - at least I am.

How can someone make so many enemies that he needs to spend our tax dollars on body guards?

We dont need an arena. That would mean there would be something more to do in Albuquerque than get drunk in Nob Hill or Downtown. It might also make people want to move here. After all, life in Albuquerque is just fine with casinos and open space. We could re-invent the drive-in theater and we’ll call it the big screen runner. Just like we re-invented the old train system and call it the Rail Runner, ITS FAST.
I like sitting around watching the praire dogs dig holes on Saturday night anyways.

I've seen Greg Payne's bus videos on CNN and NBC so far today. National news.

So far Albuquerque has hit the national news with the West Mesa Bodies, the little boy buried in the playground, and now our out-of-control bus drivers.

Good for you, Albuquerque.

The Scameras and all the Council seems to be responsible. Cadigan got paid and Winter lobbied.

Put Winter on the Scamera Artist Mug Shot Wall. His assistant lobbied for the cameras in Santa Fe. Winter’s assistant held the Majority leader’s hand throughout the process. It passed and the cameras will stay. If you do not put him on the wall, you are not being honest with your readers

Put Cadigan on the wall. His firm cashed checks from RedFlex. This company sold the idea to the administration and RedFlex now has the lucrative contract. Redflex paid for lobbying services directly to the Cadigan Firm If the black eye does not report all info, people will stop reading it.

"We don't need an arena" ...

I couldn't say it any better. I can't imagine more comments after your's.

Unfortunately an arena doesnt just rquire funds to build and ''acts' to play there, it also requires a fan base.

Go to a T-Birds game, a Scorpions game or Isotopes, we (sadly) have to admit that we live in a commnity that rarely turns out in big enough numbers to keep a venue afloat. The only way to make money at any of these events is on the liquor sales and with so much Governmental involvement that liquor contract is either going to be prohibitively hard to get or else given to a crony of whomever finally is in charge when the thing gets built.

Looking at the poll votes it’s obvious that the midget has someone, of course on city time, voting over & over again for “Don’t Care”.

Watch to see if those votes keep coming in after 2:00 p.m. today. City hall will be closing early, as usual, because it’s a holiday weekend. Our taxpayer dollars at work again for thousands of city workers! And 2 bus drivers got fired for less fraud than that.

Oh pooor Payne -- I remember when the repo guys were looking for his car while he was in a council meeting--- now that was funny

It would be interesting if a private investor wanted to build an arena at Winrock. They’d have hell getting permitting if the mighty mouse is still in office. They’d end up packing up and leaving Dodge.

Out of town businesses that have tried to build in this town and make it better have said that the “Q” is worst place to deal with. They’ve had major trouble with permitting and needed to pad the pockets.

So as usually Q will be a good 30 years behind other cities with progressive leadership.

You know, so f***ing what if the "Q" (as you call it) is 30 years behind other cities--We're not Chicago, or NYC, or even Phoenix. There's a reason for that. Downtown is a rat hole and no matter how much Mayor For Life Marty tries to sell us a bill of goods, we just aren't buying it. I work downtown and nobody in their right mind would be down there after dark for any reason. Keep doing your job, city council and tell the Almight One to shove it.

Downtown should be sold off as a movie set on how not to revitalize a city. Special guests appearance by the Downtown Action Team
