Berry states he will rebuild the blue line in his last two years in
office. Berry will rebuild what he has
destroyed. Berry points some of the blame on the last administration,
however we at The EYE say to Berry: you own this and this is YOUR mess.
It
started with Berry at the start of his first term when he promised the
Police Officers that he would replace Ray Schultz if elected. This
promise was broken as soon as Berry won the election and reappointed
Schultz as Police Chief and to make matters worse
appointed Daren White as Public Safety Director. These appointments
proved to the officers that Berry could not be trusted.
Berry went on to
cut police pay stating it was to avoid layoffs. We at The EYE ask you
Mr. Berry how are those layoffs working out
for you now ? Officers saw Schultz fire officers just to cover for
himself in the media and to keep the D.O.J. away, all the while Schultz
was greasing the wheels for Taser. When Schultz finally left, Berry
being the brilliant politician he is appointed
Gorden Eden as Police Chief.
The rank and file know the Eden is nothing
more than a political hack and has no respect of the rank and file. The
top administration is different, with their large salaries and stealing
the rank and file bonus money they are all
happy. What is the result of all this mismanagement by Berry? The
rank and file officers started retiring in mass. APD
dropped from 1,100 Officers to 823 Officers with more retirements on the
way. Berry thinks that if he can have retired
officers return and keep their pension, they will return on mass. We
at The EYE say think again. You expect them to come back, pay into a
retirement fund that they not get anything for, go to the bottom of the
seniority system and wind up on graveyard shift?
Berry they retired for a reason. They don't trust you and don't want
to be your next target. The last part of the article in The Journal
explains Berry's motive. Yes you guessed right: his political future.
Berry boasts there are thirty seven cadets in the
academy. Let us at The Eye make something very clear to you M. Berry.
It takes 3 to five years for an officer to become a seasoned Police
Officer once they graduate from the academy, and what are they learning
in the academy with Tyler in charge?
Berry gives
out raises to Police that are long overdue and settles their long
standing lawsuit in an effort to stem the tide of Officers leaving. The
bottom line is all Berry cares about in his last two years is how to
save his political future. These last two years
can't pass fast enough, while the murder rate in Albuquerque continues
to rise. And oh yeah, where is Kent Walz and his paper now regarding Berry's $5 MILLION DOLLAR bailout for breaching the contract?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So Berry, Perry, and every other 5th and 11th floor schmuck thinks all is peachy in Albuquerque and with APD? Hopefully everyone realizes that Albuquerque now ranks with Ferguson, Mo. The DOJ and Ferguson has reached an agreement with similar resolutions as Albuquerque, i.e. training, use of force procedures, etc. It's shameful that Berry decimated public safety as it is, then vetoes the council initiative to bring in the DOJ, and now procrastinates every mandate that he agreed to. This mayor is the biggest idiot I have ever seen. What's worse, he gets his advice from that drunk Perry moron.
Here's some good advice Berry, take your political future somewhere else. We don't want you here anymore. You now have a half million people in Albuquerque pissed off at you, every other New Mexican around the state is watching your fuck-ups, and your girl Susanna has killed any future republican governors' chances at getting anything accomplished at the round house. If you choose to stick around and have Jay buy your votes for the next political office, just remember one thing, we will be laughing at you just as we laugh at Susanna. I hear all the APD whiners on here complaining about how short-staffed they are, fetching call after call. Why don't the whiners find out who the two day-shift Westside slackers are that are parked at the church on Atrisco and St Josephs for hours at a time during the weekdays? Is the New Mexico State Police Chief a liar? Chief Pete Kassetas lashed out at a critic of Mayor Berry's plan to rehire police officers who retired and let them keep their pensions during a legislative committee hearing. He said his department was not fully staffed. But this letter says otherwise just a few months ago, and he had graduated a new academy class since then. Apparently someone is not truthful here and could it be a GOP mandated lie to help a republican Mayor Berry get his legislation passed? And, is this all an effort to weaken the Public Employees Retirement Association permanent fund so that future legislators can try and gut public employee pensions?

If you read the consent decrees for all the cities the DOJ has visited you will find they read the same. It's simply a template they apply to all. The DOJ did a piss poor investigation. This is simply a reform tactic applied to either the largest or "problem cities" in each state which sets the standards for the smaller departments.

Berry,,,,,the city really went to crap today with a suspicious death, a shooting, 3 car-jackings, and another justifiable Officer involved shooting,,,,and that's not even "cutting the crust". I wonder after all those incidents, how many officers were trying to take the calls that were holding while all resources were directed to the critical incidents. How many officers took calls without back-up available, just so you can claim our response times are the best they have ever been. No wonder BCSO was involved in backing us up, they actually are fully staffed. We warned you Berry, but you screwed our officers over and every eligible retiree is leaving. Prayers our brothers won't get hurt. It will be our next Mayor that will try to pick up the pieces and clean your mess (hopefully).
Ferris was on call Lt got sent to NE for a 15 involving 2 34s, a DWI 34 and a new recruit. Recruit had signs of 27 4 on her face and Ferris said no arrest. The female 34 is a friend of mine and she is in a bad situation and needs help. I am furious they walked away the way the did and I know our training tells us otherwise. The DWI 34 is quite older than the recruit and very controlling sad situation.

Not altogether true, the female 34 denied any violence, refused to show Ferris her face, lied and said nothing happened. The summons was sent the next day when she tracked her down and found the injury. People and their drama....

Ferris is a Lieutenant because the department has to meet a quota for females and females within the ranks, so it can continue to receive federal money. She is pretty much worthless. Why else was Bonnie Montoya, Dodi Camacho, Rae Mason, just to name a few promoted? It wasn't for their street smarts or command presence... What the hell? The only person that should have been dispatched to that domestic scene was an FI or FET to photograph those involved. When it comes to domestics and police they should not be treated any differently than the public. I would love to see the lapel camera footage on that call.

Switzer should be charged with Federal Civil Rights violations.
He should never have been hired back at APD in 2003, as he drug test revealed he was dirty with Darvon. You guessed it, no Rx.
But APD hired him back and then had to fire him. Then Switzer sued, admitted in court he was using his wife's Rx for Darvon and lost his case. Then Sandoval County hired him because APD never submitted the LEA 90 to revoke Switzer's police license.
Sandoval Sheriff Doug Wood has also failed to obey state law and submit an LEA 90 against Switzer for beating the 12 year old kid. This is what is wrong in New Mexico, bad cops are allowed to continue to work because of bad sheriffs and bad chiefs. But holy shit don't write a blog, Eden will submit that LEA 90 in a heartbeat. Almost kill your own detective and Eden could care less (yes Brachle). The sheriffs and chiefs in New Mexico are some of the worse in the nation.

An LEA-90 was submitted to the NMLEA Board on Switzer. The "victim" spitter involved is NOT 12, he's 16 & a royal POS. Switzer is being charged with a simple Battery - misdemeanor, not felony level nor any Child Abuse charges. Switzer is being thrown to the wolves by Karl Wiese & Keith Elder in order to mitigate the tort payout on their end. How is that you ask? Well, Switzer's first line supervisor (Sgt. Gilber Sancez) who observed/heard this incident as well as two other deputies did NOTHING after seeing/hearing this incident. The Sgt. went and ran to his Lieutenant and essentially told on Switzer, then the Lt. started making supervisory decisions. What kind of first line supervisor does that make? After observing what can be articulated as a clear civil rights violation, the Sgt. & two other deputies just stand there and let Switzer proceed to transport the 16 year old down to BCJDC instead of INTERVENING on behalf of the 16 year old. Uhm, okay. That aspect of the tort claim will pay out much much more that the slapping elements. Everyone remembers what happened to the LAPD 34's who stood by while the Rodney Kind incident was unfolding, if the special prosecutor assigned had any sort of political aspirations they would pull the three Sandoval County deputies in and hold them accountable as well.

As you said, the three deputies need to be pulled in at the same time as you since you since you know everything and have sat idly by and did nothing other than post on this blog.
