We just found out that tanks at the BioPark have been vandalized... again. Back in April a field trip to the BioPark by students from John Adams Middle School left an indelible mark (or two) on the park's tanks (Subscription Required). The vandals were arrested and the city sued to recover $4,000 from each parent/guardian of the minors involved (Subscription Required).
According to our Eyes, the tanks have been struck again. Both the $1 MILLION shark tank and the $30,000 jellyfish tank were vandalized with graphitti and this time the vandals got away clean.
It seems that the security cameras that were installed to protect the tanks have been broken for some time. A fact that was called to the attention of DMD Security Manager Mark Shepherd some time ago.
We would think that Mr. Shepherd the Almighty's former bodyguard and retired APD officer, would have taken steps to remedy the situation after April's incident. After all, since the cameras were not operating, it was sheer luck that the John Adams Middle School vandals were caught.

there are NO camera's at the biopark, nor are there any at the zoo. There are at city hall though, TO WATCH THE SECURITY OFFICERS IN THEIR OWN OFFICE.
Money wasted that could have been used to watch the plaza, or the parking lots, or somewhere that crime may be occuring, but no, and we hear it's so Sheppie can see who the officers are complaining to.
Just another example of how Shep doesn't know what he is doing, being a body guard is totally different than guarding property.
That place IS full of idiots. All hired or promoted for their ass kissing abilities. And you don't have to work there to know that Shep's ability to ass kiss is astounding, he's being promoted after all....
And it still doesn't excuse the fact that he knew for several YEARS before the John Adams kids were there that there were no cameras. And there still aren't. Nor will there be, he's too busy spending money on trucks and graphics to make them look like APD to spend money on things that the officers could use, like cameras.
The two comments above are certainly from his two favorite sgts, and they illustrate exactly what is wrong with all of the city, instead of fixing what is wrong, let's cover it up, keep it quiet, and fuck with the troops. Actually, that is the perfect example. Right there. If they haven't already, they should post that in their offices, cover it up, keep it quiet, and fuck with the troops. Not, do what is right, fix the problems, and give the troops the tools to do their jobs. Not hire enough people to have more than one person on post some days. Not make it a good work environment for people to want to come to work and do their jobs. Oh no, we couldn't have that could we? That wouldn't be good CITY management.

No....That's not what I was saying but I think you proved my point though...
None of your arguing is going to get any cameras put in at the bio park, but it does point out just how ridiculously stupid all of you are, fighting over who should watch what, or who is saying what. Address the real problem, which is that no one is doing what they are supposed to. And the rest of us that want to go to the bio and actually be able to see the fish thru the glass won't be able to if this keeps up. Poster 4 is right, it all just keeps getting covered up or ignored. And if poster 6 is right, maybe there will be new management and something will get fixed at the aquarium.
Hey, maybe Marty can put one of the red light camera's in there, you think? How would that work? He's Shepherd's buddy, a little you scratch my back I scratch yours?
And maybe no one will scratch the tanks

Why dont we blog on how the 3 new lieutenants were promoted within City Security. Just as Fred Mollerud who gave up a postion with the parking division so that Mark Shepherds buddy would get the job, and was promised the position of Lieutenant. In meeting after meeting Fred Mollerud would cry and kick his feet on how he is the lowest paid sergeant, well I guess mulitiple trips and ass kissing paid off.....he is now a lieutenant. Lets talk about the back stabbing Renee Carriaga I guess after 15 years of being a professional student paid off with her "Associates" degree and again discussions behind closed doors with Mark got her a promotion. Oh yea and finally the infamous Darlene Sammons, ONLY GOD knows this one! She has had so many complaints of her abrasivness and argumentive behavior not only with officers but sergeants, lieutenants, and captains. Yes Mark protects her too.
Well this only leads to what I have seen since Mr. Shepherd took over "Incompetance breeds incompetance".
Ask Mark why he continually discusses Debra James and Marty messing around at the baloon museum opening......
