The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Throwin' In the Towel

We received an email from Recall Marty organizer S Pyke yesterday to let us know that he has decided to end his recall effort.
When people complain and take action, even if they do not resolve that complaint, they at least did something. Sometimes losing is winning! I have ended my recall effort and my blog. Thank you for your interest and best of luck getting whiners motivated to take action.
- S Pyke
From the very beginning a successful recall of Mayor Chavez was a long shot. Just getting it on the ballot would have required over 20,000 signatures, a feat that is only possible with a large well-funded organization (or a really hacked-off electorate). With that being said, we applaud Mr. Pyke for his efforts. Taking on the powerful is always an undertaking that requires personal courage as you often become an easy target for criticisim whether justified or not.

One thing that is abundantly clear is that the current recall system works. In our opinion, the charter changed proposed by the city council to make it harder to recall councilors is not only unnecessary but unjustifiable.

I think thats great news and a good idea on Mr Pykes part

when all is said and done;
more is said than done.

Mr. Pike is to be commended for taking a shot. He now knows what others have found out; when people say someone should do something; what they really mean is, someone ELSE should do something.

I too commend Mr. Pyke on his efforts, too many people just complain but Mr. Pyke at least made an attempt at someting he believed in. Too bad there aren't more folks willing to take the risk.

Albuquerque will always remain corrupt and third world, unless more people like Mr. Pyke take action. This apathy and
non- involment doesn't exist in Rio Rancho, Colorado, Arizona or Texas.
Why? Becuase the citizens here are willing to accept un-employment, illiteracy, corruption, litter, drunkeness, drug dealing, burglaries, auto thefts, and the lack of youth programs. So, "Good for you Albuquerque" Stay ignorant and keep me in office. That's the way the 'Patron' System works here.

It was a good effort Mr. Pyke. I would like to think that your attempt got Marty's attention, but I doubt it did. I'm sure Marty knew from day one it wouldn't succeed, and didn't lose a bit of sleep over it.

I agree with the above posts. While the vast majority of people in the city bitch and moan about this administration and the corrupt officials in it, 95% of them don't have the balls to do anything about it. It's called apathy, and apathy ruins cities. Albuquerque will end up like Detroit, Chicago, and Boston. Over run with criminals and drug activity because corruption has led to the demise of the most basic of public services. An understaffed and ill equipped police department will face an uphill battle controlling crime on our streets, and soon the drug dealers, pimps, and prostitutes will run rampant on the streets of Albuquerque.

Of course, I'm speaking of worst case scenarios--but considering the road we're on, is it really that far off? I don't think so.

Albuquerque needs to wake up. Grow a set of balls. Show these corrupt, pandering, manipulating assholes who REALLY runs this city. It's not them. We (and I admit I voted for Marty and a few of his other henchmen) put them there to REPRESENT us and our wishes. We didn't put them there to tear this city apart and line thier pockets while we suffer. We have been fleeced, lied to, and shit on by these people. It's time to make a change.

2008 can't come soon enough. I just hope to God that the apathy stops there, and we get some control over our city government. The future of Albuquerque depends on it.

Well, I am hoping you are running for office. You sound like you are a reasonable person who finds out how difficult it is to 'listen to the whining masses' and make sense of it all without getting your car bashed, your house bashed, or your reputation bashed. Let me know where I can send a check to help your campaign (hopefully, not a community effort, but your own money so you don't have to worry about being recalled over having spent some other dicks money).

Two comments up. Dido,You hit the nail on the head. Yes' '08 can't come soon enough. Where do I send a check as well.

Ar you saying I should run for Mayor? Intereasting idea. I could try it but I would NOT accept public financing. hmmmmmm

Oh yeah Pike, your failure in the recall effort is a resounding mandate by the public to run for Mayor....Go back to bed, you're dreaming.

"I used to be apathetic...but now I just don't care".
Yes, that about sums up the electorate of this town, I'm sad to say. I don't smoke and I did sign the petition, and I just can't believe that there weren't another 21,998 people in this town as fed up with Marty's dictatorial methods.

Take note of the surveillance cams along Wyoming Blvd and Paseo del Norte, people. They're not there because of high crime rates, they are there for the next series of civil fine collection, courtesy of this scumbag Mayor and his rubber-stamp City Council.

And when you get your $300 ticket for "illegal lane change" or "following too closely", remember....you could have been one of the brave 22,000 to try to change this city back into the great place it once was.

You'll get over it.

Yes, anybody who is willing to take action to help this city should consider running for mayor.

Well I was just making a joke. Why dosn't the person that keeps calling me "pathetic" try and run for Mayor. And by the way stop leaving obnoxious comments unless you are willing to identify yourself. It is a weak person who hides behind a curtain while spouting their opinion. Yea I did not get enough signatures to force out the Mayor but I got more than enough if I was running for mayor. So put out your ID with your words or shut up. People like you are Pathetic. S Pyke

LOL...I just love it when Smarty posts. You can always tells it's him....he finishes everything he says with "loser". Kind of ironic, considering that's what we'll be calling him when he runs for Gov. :O)
