The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. Money Money Money

If there was ever any doubt that the City of Albuquerque's Red Light Scam-era program was all about the money (there wasn't) it's completely gone now. According to KOB-TV Marty's former treasurer and perhaps closest political ally on the council has had the bright idea to shutdown the scam-eras in intersections that aren't turning the profit that they used to (KOB-TV).

Apparently, Councilor Sanchez spent a little time reading a report on MSNBC.com about the city of Dallas' plan to turn off their scam-eras (read it here). The city council in the lone star state has figured out that while the public safety benefits are negligible not to mention in dispute, the monetary benefit is that was initially substantial starts to dwindle if for no other reason than people are generally smarter than the council and simply avoid the stationary revenue generators.
At the heart of the discussions taking place in city councils and county commissions is tension between the twin benefits that were touted when local governments began installing cameras about a decade and a half ago. Officials were promised that the cameras — which take snapshots of busy intersections, capturing the license plates of any cars that are running the light — would simultaneously save lives and generate millions of dollars in extra fines. [emphasis added]
Now that revenue is down - way down - the City of Dallas is considering shuttering as many as a quarter of their installed cameras and Councilor Sanchez wants to look at following their lead. We also don't think it's a coincidence that Sanchez's move comes just after the legislature voted to confiscate the profit from The Almighty Alcalde's scam.

What is particularly alarming here is that people like Councilor Sanchez will shutdown the cameras in a second if they fail to bring home the bacon but could care less about the little things like due process, liberty, justice, and The Constitution for that matter. They claim that their overriding concern is public safety, but when the crash reduction efficacy of the scam-eras cannot be proven those same politicians continue to support its continuation - right up until the revenue dries up.

It has always been about the money. It will always be about the money. And now these yahoos in the city councils of both Dallas and right here in Albuquerque are all but admitting that the only thing that will end the scam is a lack of... money. They should be ashamed of themselves and we should think twice before we send them back their respective legislative bodies.

I am always somewhat amazed that politicians such as Chavez and Sanchez will lie so brazenly about the scam-era program, when it is so utterly obvious that it is all about the money. And, perhaps, not simply money into the city's coffers, but possibly kickbacks of some sort from the company that runs the machines.

This is without a doubt the most inept, unprofessional, uninformed, body of City government. In most cities the City Council would come down on, and rid their governments of corruption, their mayor's whoring, drinking,(and driving and it's coverups)and overall deceptions.
The corruption continues and will continue, until judges, City Councilors and high ranking police, finally stand up and say this stops now. Corrupt governments only lend themselves to out of control crime in the streets. A 'Code of Ethics' is seroiusly lacking here for sure.
It is why the general public mistrust and despise politicians.
It is why otherwise good citizens and the rank and file of APD are afraid to come forward.
Would'nt it be better to lead with respect versus fear?
Only small, insecure, cowards lead this way.

Why can't we have to courage to take care of the mayor like there doing in Detroit. . . .

"Why can't we have to courage to take care of the mayor like there doing in Detroit. . . ."

The officers involved in that whole mess were disciplined hard after they 54'd the mayor's aid/girlfriend. The officer's union came to their defense and counterattacked and in that countersuit the mayor was caught committing perjury.

The problem with our "union" is that they have no fortitude to step forward and slam the mayor nor pd's administration. They wait for orders from the membership or they test the water. Until we have a leader things will remain the same.

Here's a thought, hit them with a union busting lawsuit since that's what they're doing...

Just got word help is on the way...

Bigfoot, Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster have been reading the blog and are now willing to step forward (even though it means their privacy is shot)and share their secert knowledge about the Mayor, the 5th floor and red light cameras in order to topple this administration.

Oh, and the Priory of Scion, the Freemasons, L. Ron Hubbard and Alistair Crowley are all in as well.

And L. Ron is going to have Tom Cruise call Richardson to get him rolling.

At long last, JUSTICE!

Wait a minute...It IS about safety. Follow me on this one, EvilTodd...

The city claims camera enforced intersections are significantly safer because of the cameras. This means that non-camera intersections are less safe, and would be safer with a camera. It is therefore incumbant upon the city to make ALL intersections as safe as they have claimed that camera instersections are.

Should a collision occur due to red light violation or speeding in a NON-camera enforced intersection, THE CITY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR GROSS NEGLIGENCE. The city has known for 4 years that camera enforcement increases safety, and the city has the responsibility to its citizens to make ALL intersections as safe as the camera enforced ones.

As the victim of such a collision, you should sue the city for their negligence in not putting up a camera. They know that if a camera was there, the likelyhood of a collision is far less.

As the perpetrator of such a collision, you should sue the city for the same reason, gross negligence. If there was a camera, you would be driving significantly safer, and therefore probably NOT caused the collision.

In fact, I don't think a collision has to occur at all. For example, I drive as much as possible through camera enforced intersections, because I feel comforted by the increased safety the cameras perform. Every time I go through a non-camera intersection, my anxiety, mental anguish and stress all skyrocket, knowing that I'm more likely to be harmed. I should receive compensation from the city for such mental anguish and stress.

Now then, it is up to the city to prove their cameras DO NOT increase safety.

I wish this Mayor, administration and chief were not so money hungry. The give our city a black eye that will take years to heal after they leave office in a 1 1/2 years!

There has really never been any question that Mayor Chavez and his administration are stupid! That's all they care about is money.

However, what idiot in his right mind would pick a fight with such a powerful governor.

First, the Mayor used his attack dog Chief Ray Schultz against the governor. Schultz himself is dirty.

Then, he himself attacked the Governor, what a MOFO idiot! If he planned on running for a 3 term Mayor's position, I would say the Governor will play a role in that not happening.

It appears that Mayor Chavez himself is hoping the Clinton's reward him with a job, as Chavez will be without one shortly and does not appear electable to any thing!

In the paper, Mayor Chavez spoke of loyality, now there is a guy that is loyal to no one, except himself! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Chavez is nothing more than a hypocrite!

Are they really leaving in a year & 1/2. I thought Marty was getting the Mayoral term limits changed? That way we can have a true dictatorship. Seems like we really don't live in the US.

He would probably win unless another Hispanic ran against him. I hear over & over again that people voted for him because they're Hispanic. What a bunch of uninformed dumbasses. This city could be stuck with him for another term(s). Kinda like Castro??

As for the city councilors, where the hell are they?? Ken Sanchez has his legs so wrapped around Marty's waist he doesn't even care whats going on in his own district. Poor Sally, doing what she thought was the right thing, with animal control. and then Marty taking credit for all of it. Sally Who??

The redlight forum is so old, we always new it was never about public safety. It would be interesting if the AG King could dig up what kind of kickback the Marty King got from Redflex and others.

Ken Sanchez says cameras increase safety and also wants to remove the camera at Coors and Central, arguably one of the poorer areas of town, thus making that area less safe.

Evidently, Mr Sanchez believes only the wealthier side of town deserves the increased safety the cameras provide.

So yes, the city is not only being negligent by not having every intersection as safe as the ones with cameras, but the city is also being discriminatory by removing cameras, and their added safety, in poorer sides of town.

What a bunch of Yayhoos this city has in politics. Maybe the scamera at Coors and Central doesn't have enough white people going through it, so maybe Mr. Sanchez could possibly move it so somewhere up off Academy or Eubank or so.

If the Mayor actually cared about public safety he would heed the research of a good number of traffic enginerring studies. The simple, however less economically beneficial, solution is to increase the yellow light timing and to add a one second red-light overlay....having a red light in all four directions for a full second to clear the intersection. This is a simple solution that could be implemented at all of the "dangerous" intersections within the time span of the day and would only cost the man hours of the traffic engineering staff adjusting the lights. Anything other than that solution is purely for economic benefit.

Money hungry! that is why the DCOPs all go eat for free, they have no leadership ability. As a new officer I am amazed that any one above a Lieutenant would take a discount meal or eat for free. Go by Kelly's and see for yourself!!!

Maybe they go to Kelleys because of the food, atmosphere and clientale are top notch. And unlike you, we old timers leave a substantial tip, not that 2-bits you tight wads put out. What a ridiculously shallow and narrow sighted comment from the above post.
