In light of recent events, the membership of the Chicano Police Officers Association has been concerned with the leadership and prosecution of recent high profile cases by you as the Bernalillo County District Attorney. In response, the membership assembled at the October meeting approved a motion expressing a unanimous vote of No Confidence on you, Kari Brandenburg, as the District Attorney of the 2nd Judicial District in Bernalillo County.

Yesterday, the membership of the Albuquerque Chicano Police Officers Association took a unanimous vote of no confidence in DA Kari Brandenburg.

That's the very reason I belonged to BOTH organizations - CPOA says what we really feel, APOA says what they have to due to the negotiations always hanging over their head like the sword of Damocles.

How come the CPOA chose to do this? The Chicano Mayor has done far worse to the CPOA than the Anglo DA Brandenburg has or will ever do to the CPOA! The CPOA has no back bone. They take a vote of "No Confidence" towards a(n) Anglo but sit back and take it like a bunch closet racist with a ball gag in their mouths while the Chicano Mayor lies about the number of officers on the force (officer safety), keeps one of the worst Chiefs in recent history etc. etc. etc., and yet they say and do nothing....? If Torraco is elected, the APD Violent Crimes, chain of command, who we all know run the CPOA better hang on, because Lisa won't be taking all their crappy cases and taking 7 months to turn in a homicide case. Better watch what you wish for, the less than 50% clearance rate, which is what we are at, I think, I know it's low, wont' be acceptable.

APD Violent Crimes, chain of command has long been overdue for a shake up! Is there a difference between CPOA and the homicide unit? Look at CPOA web site and see for yourself.
Interesting comments about Violent Crimes, we know the Chief reads the site, on his own admission, and I am sure both Brandenburg and Torraco do as well. Who ever gets elected needs to put their foot down over Violent Crimes, we know Kari wont, she hasn't and wont, so lets hope for Lisa.
So where is this long overdue "Vote of No Confidence" for the Chicano Mayor that officers keep hinting around about.....? NO balls, a move motivated by race. The CPOA is known for promoting diversity. Brandenburgs ethnicity had no bearing on the vote of no confidence. Her poor ethics lead to the vote. Way to go CPOA. Glad to see you take a stand on this issue.
Just for your information, the APD homicide unit lead the nation in clearance ratio from 02' to 07'. Then Karis office started Nole Pros the cases. Kari is a liberal on crime and needs to go. It was about time an association had the balls to vote correctly. Maybe the APOA, FOP, and BCSDA will follow suit. Way to go CPOA

The CPOA and APOA suffer from Battered wife syndrome. When is the APOA, and CPOA going to bring the "Vote of No Confidence" against the Chief, and or the Mayor? A couple of years ago Officer Vocasek made a motin of no confidence againt Ray Ray. Well guess what happened, Ray started following him to calls, showing up on his calls, intimidating him at work.
A no confidence needs to be made, but we all have to stick together. Back each other up, be each others 82!

Stop your complaining about what others have done and look at what you have done....or not done. The excuse that you will be targeted is b.s.! If you can substantiate your claim, other than it is a inconvenience to how you wish it to be, then go forth and pursue your claim. If it is as bad as you make it out to be then choose another career as others have done. If there are indeed violations of procedures, policies, or law then belly up to the bar and make your case known. Otherwise you are simply a whiner who believes you deserve more then what you currently have. If the job is that bad go elsewhere, you are not irreplaceable.

How come the APD officers will deflect, and avoid the direct question at hand? For over a year now all "WE" non LEO have read on this blog site is how bad a leader Schultz, and Mayor Chavez are, and when someone rightfully so ask the question. When and where is the "Vote of No Confidence" going to happen? Instead you go on the attack and don't asnwer the question. I guess us non LEO can chalk it up to rhetoric, lies, and disgruntled APD officers and it's really not that bad at all....??????

Again, why do Unions (Police, Fire, and AFSCME) tell us to vote stupid? Come January I'm opting out of my union--tired of their stupid voice mails telling me to vote for Heinrich!!! The dues are way too high and I can never, never ever get a response from the president of my union (AFSCME)Never, never, never. She never returns my calls or emails, and I have no idea why most of our 2009 Contract is BLANK.....It's the Clerical Contract BTW. So we get 3% and are told to vote for Heinrich who will increase our taxes so we'll see even LESS money in our paychecks. Sorry, dudes, AFSCME makes no sense whatsoever!!!

Actually I'm pretty sure there's about 300 members of the CPOA,,,all 300 are always invited to each & every meeting. I'm not sure as to how many actually show up to meetings because, now thats up to each and every paying individual member.
If you are a union memeber of any association you know there has to be a quorum at the meeting in order to make a motion. There were plenty of board memebers present as well as general memebers. The motion was made by a law enforcement officer for a vote of NO CONFIDENCE on Kari Brandenberg and it passed unanimously. End of story.
What an amazing bunch of whiners! Get over whatever your petty grievances may be and do the job the taxpayers are paying you to do. You make all officers look like cry-babies!
If you put half the energy into your work as you do in responding to this blog the DA's Office would have some cases to prosecute!
