The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Kari in Wonderland

There's a point in every campaign where a candidate for office does something or reveals a piece of information so strange that you can't help but wonder about their sanity.
Brandenburg's office doesn't exactly fit the "Law & Order" mold.

She has several plush animals in her office that sing, including a bear rug and a deer head on the wall. She is known to dance to the animals as they break out with such tunes as "Sweet Home Alabama."
Huh? Dancing in her office while the deer and the bear rug play? Never mind that the DA's office has been a no show on voter fraud. Never mind Brandenburg's single minded obsession with putting the innocent behind bars. Never mind her plea before prosecute mentality. It's quite possible the District Attorney for the 2nd Judicial District is insane.
In the corner of her office is a large refrigerator. On top is a case of A&W Root Beer and inside the freezer are gallons of ice cream.

"I don't like soda," she says. "We were having root beer float day for everyone in the office."

Brandenburg prides herself on being able to improve morale. It was part of her platform when she first elected eight years ago.
What?! Hey, we like an occasional root beer float as much as the next Eye, but shouldn't one of our top law enforcement officials be more concerned about putting criminals in prison?

This is just bizarre and more than a little alarming. We've got a DA dancing in her office while her stuffed animals sing and serving up root beer floats while repeat offenders like Clifton Bloomfield are cut pleas and set loose on the public. It's like Alice... or at least Kari in Wonderland.

Jesus Eye this is the biggest non-sequitor ever. Who cares if they occasionally have root beer floats in the office?

What innocent person is it that you think she's obsessed with putting in jail? Elton John Richard plead no contest.

Basically this whole post consists of taking two little personality bits out of the Journal's story and bitching about them. Don't you have some actual pertinent facts to complain about instead?

OMG- The Eye has reached a new low even for the Eye. How trivial and truly banal can you be. Shut this blog down out of sheer embarrassment.

Who cares what she has in her office or that everything makes noise. I see that at every city hall office, don't the mayor take his shi#@y dog to his office.

Looks like Kari in Wonderland's Asst. DA's are all posting for their jobs!

Brandenberg is a bleeding heart lib. Her staff is full of left wingers who ought to be working over at the Public Defender's office. Given the screams elicited since the Journal and The Eye shed a little light on them, they're also all obviously a bunch of insulated, self absorbed freaks.

Oh, a final word for the Asst. DA's: I doubt you held a Root Beer Float Day for The Marine to help improve his morale while you had him locked up in jail, did you?

For that reason alone (although there are MANY) you and your criminal coddling "leader" need to go.

Good riddance on Election Day and hello to a REAL DA: Lisa Torraco.

NOPE...no facts...just polls that they can't site or name or link to or support in anyway.
No facts, just personality assasination-the no priciple party. the blog that lives in a sewer. weasels like pat rogers.....scum.
the eye can hire TJ, their lil spy....wow you guys suck.

Banal, environs, non-sequitor, wow I have never seen words like that used on this blog. I think the EYE has gotten a new group of readers. I guess all the money your folks spent on law school paid off.

I'm sure that the children who will visit Kari's office tomorrow for the Kids Against Violence Project will appreciate her warmth and sense of humor, as they have every year. Too bad the Eye IS the Grinch.
Her staff enjoy the root beer floats. A happy office is a productive office according to all the research. You should try it.

Kari is the embarrassment. She should be ashamed of herself.

I couldn't agree more about the above comments! With nothing substantive to complain about in Ms. Brandenburg's performance you choose to write up something like this? The Eye only proves it is blatantly biased and worthless as any kind of "information source" when it gets excited about stuff like this! Get a clue and drop it already.

Anonymous said...

Wow Eye! It appears you've touched on a really soft spot with the above comment posters!

To the 3 above posters... When you write on your own 'in the pocket of ...' blogs, you can decide who and what is written about! Till then pound sand and find a new place to air your rantings. I suggest you avoid Kari's actual office, because you're not as anonymous as you think!

I particularly liked the part where she has dozens of cuckoo clocks going off on the hour.

I think Kari or Lisa is as qualified as the other ... Someone aught to just give the responsibility to Marty ... He has a natural nack of knowing what not to do and has way too much time on his hands! Make him feel like somebody.

Kari and her liberal beliefs have finally caught up with her. Shes done. Welcome to the new world of conservatives. The liberals across Bernalillo County in Coruption are shivering.

This blog has become so lame that The Eye is cutting and pasting from Rush Limbaugh and now the Journal. I'm out of here for good. It used to be an open forum. Now? An outlet of Limbaugh, Hannity, Medved, Drudge, and Savage.

Over and out.

In other news, how absolutely terrific is it that Manny Aaragon is finally going to prison? He can be with the rest of his friends and extended family --

Dealing with rape, murder, child molestation, etc day in and day out would be devastating to morale. So what if there's rootbeer and ice cream??

Stick to her job, not what's in the ice box.

Hilarious as usual from the less than profound right. The republican Torraco -though she denies she is one - and all of the Rs are going to get their asses so soundly kicked on Nov. 4th, that even they will want to run pat rogers out of town. Good ol' pat - the one guy who almost single handedly ruined the reputation of Pete Domemici. and now he's backing lil lisa so she can do political prosecutions for him. is that really the DAs job?......oh well, it won't matter cuz torraco ain't got a chance in hell.

Sadly, I must agree w/several posters on this blog. The Eye is something I have been engaged in less, and less, as time goes by. I think the Eye got "scared" when the rumors started flying about Marty finding out IP addresses, etc. and so began blogging about "safe" topics, boring stuff, etc. Yawn....

Anonymous said...

What are you first, an American or a democrat/republican?

I think a lot of people are loyal to political parties instead of to country.

Anonymous said...

You ladies from the DAs office are killing me. Read the headlines. Torroco Wins DA on Novemeber 4th. Maybe if Kari was doing her job, the Feds would not of had to step in on the Aragon case. Oh, almost forgot, Kari hangs out at the same political functions as Manny Aragon, Ray Sanchez, and the Governor. She would NEVER indict a democrat. The fat lady is singing, Kari is done.

Anonymous said...

Lisa, maybe you need to blog less and study the law a little more. The courthouse case was always a federal case and not a state case. Your ignorance of the law is what really scares the legal community.
BTW- when Lisa accused the DAs office of being on the take from Jason Daskalos - KKOB radio - and of giving sweetheart deals - she failed to mention her $5k contribution from Mr. Daskalos.
And her screaming about the latest plea deal that netted the murderer 195 years behind bars? Lisa working with the defense atty - Kerr. She didn't mention that either. Talk about a corrupt individual - Torraco makes Aragon look good. lol
Torraco will get smashed on 11/4 - and lose by a landslide.

I hope that Kari does not win again. "We The People" are sick and tired of her mishandling of cases. We are also sick of her unwillingness to diligently go after the criminals of this city. It seems that the D.A.'s office is always pointing the finger instead of being accountable for its inability to put criminals behind bars. Albuquerque is by far the most dangerous city that I have ever lived in. This is a shame because it is also the smallest city that I have lived in. My vote is going to anyone but Brandenberg!

Anonymous said...

Name cases the DA has mishandled or the criminals that she hasn't gone after. Kari doesn't point fingers at anybody, ever. She never passes the buck to other agencies, though frequently do that themselves.
Name a crime free city or a city with a top notch, nationally respected DA like Albuquerque.
Brandenburg has the endorsement of EVERY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY IN THE COUNTY!
TORRACO HAS ZERO.......WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?
KARI ENFORCES THE LAW - PERIOD - END OF STORY.

Lisa drags everyone down into the mud with her. And she gets to have the slimmy pat rogers down there with her. pat wants Lisa to prosecute the politcal cases of his choosing. he knows that he won't have the us attorney as his pal anymore. Vote against pat rogers by voting against lisa torraco. pat is the guy who single handedly stained the reputation of Pete Domenici.

When talk of mishandled cases come up, the Richard case comes to mind. A Marine who risked his life for his country ( if you have not served combat time, you have no idea the courage it takes) is put on trial for killing a worthless criminal after the criminal commits a crime against him. The DA pointing fingers at APD as the reason cases get dismissed in court. The DA's failure to investigate fellow Democrats when they do wrong. The DA's unwillingness to prosecute criminals who steal vehicles until she is forced to by the public outcry. The local law enforcement officers I have talked to do not have anything good to say about Kari Brandenberg. Oh, by the way, it is not the DA's job to enforce the law, but to prosecute the cases brought forth by those who enforce the law. Let's see, ABQ # 2 in the country for violent crime. Seems to me that the DA is doing one heck of a job! Keep up the good work! Maybe ABQ will top the country next year!

All the ADA's posting are ascared because Lisa will clean house.

I loved Kari's new ad, she has the highest felony conviction rate...???, blah, blah, blah

Did those stats include, the felony plea's to misdeamenors, house arrest, probation or absolutely nothing? I doubt it.

Again this reads like a GREEK tragedy, if ya know what I mean. We need change, get Kari out!

Anonymous said...

Brandenburg has a 95% conviction rate. Richard was investigated, indicted by a grand jury and pled no contest. Being in combat shouldn't exonerate anyone in civilian life. Kari has NEVER pointed the finger at APD - NEVER ! Name a Democrat that she should have prosecuted. Just one.
Every law enforcement agency has endorsed Kari Brandenburg. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Talk to the swat guys and ladies who protected her family or the street cops who constantly say wonderful things about Kari. She is honest. Torraco is a liar. Who do want for DA? Brandenburg, of course.

Anonymous said...

I am a "street cop" and have been for nearly twenty years. I don't think Kari has done a good job during her tenure as DA. Most of the "SWAT guys" are friends of mine and they do have good things to say about Kari as a erson, but not as DA. I was one of people protecting her and I think she has done a terrible job as DA. Our Union endorsed Kari, but the APD union does not have the support of the majority of members in this matter!!! Being a good person does not equal being good at your job!!

Anonymous said...

Amen to the last SWAT officers post. I have faith in our system that enough people have woke up to the liberal ideas, despite democrat or republican. We need a conservative in the DAs office. It is apparent that liberal values have increase recitivism in Albuquerque. It is a revolving door.

Vote Torroco for DA.

Anonymous said...

AFCSME (our non-police union)also endorses Heinrich(or however you spell it). WTF is up w/these unions?

Anonymous said...

Most unions in Aluquerque are run by threats and promises of the management, like the 11th floor. Ask the Afsme, police, and Fire Union presidents.

Bad or good DA? HMmmmmm... letting John Chau, the murderer caught on the westside, out AND reducing the charges so he can be let out to commit ANOTHER murder???? Yeah, good job Kari!... and YES. IT IS HER job to be able to determine who MAY or MAY NOT be a murderer for the safety of our streets. And since its obvious she can not tell the difference between a nice young man, and a cold blooded twice accused murderer, i wouldnt want her prosecuting a single PARKING TICKET!
