The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Livin' the Dream - Paid to Not Work

Back in January we told you about the impact that the downturn in the economy has had on the city's building inspectors. Actually, the inspectors were probably not complaining as they were being paid to not work (read it here).

Apparently city pay for nothing has spread to the Human Resources Department. KOAT-TV is promoting a Wednesday story by Target 7's Melissa Vega on "City Workers Getting Paid for Doing Nothing." It's pretty obvious that with the economic downturn and the utter failure of Obamanamics, departments that thrive during a healthy economy would see a drastic reduction in work.

Unfortunately, our Eyes tell us that pay for nothing has spread to the specialized units of the Albuquerque Police Department. It seems that a number of these units have begun a practice of having early briefings, going home for a few hours, and then returning to work the remainder of their shift. In some cases, they'll even clock over-time when their jobs take them into the wee hours of the morning.

We can almost understand why HR personnel and building inspectors are left with nothing to do. When there's no work to do, there's no work to do. That doesn't mean that we should pay for workers to do nothing. In fact, the practice is a colossal waste of taxpayer money.

However, there is no excuse for officers in these specialized units to be riding and hiding especially during challenging economic times. Shifts for APD's specialized units need to coincide with the times when they are expected to be needed. Briefings should take place immediately before the rush hours and should we all be lucky enough that they're left with nothing to do - they should make themselves available to take calls for service. After all, these are sworn officers being paid to do a job we shouldn't be paying them not to work.

Let's not leave out the Civilian Supervisos and Managers who have cable tv in their offices and watch soap operas and lifetime tv on it all day and then when the day is over they clock in and do overtime. Talk about pay for no work.

The "utter failure of Obamanamics" are your words and he has been in office for only 6 months.

We have Commissionars that want to hand their job over to Richardson for more than a year. Armijo and Brasher want to be the second and third people to quit so the gov will own the Commission.

What shape will we be in if the gov controls 3 out of 5 seats in the largest County in the state?

Check out Barker's story on PERA. I am a PERA member and I am disgusted in Borregio, Slatery and that brainless attorney. PERA needs a complete change of personel. All three of these "secretive" people need to go. PERA is a PUBLIC entity. They should welcome questions about how they operate. Instead they hide, they lie, they mislead, they make false allegation, etc.

I was stunned. I have already called my PERA board representative and requested they remove Borrigo as the chairperson and fire Slatery for lieing and fire the attorney for being stupid.

ON ANOTHER NOTE:
News 4 reported that ABQ Health offered all 3 mayoral candidates colonocopies for free.
Romero said he had one and would do it again, smart man!
Barry said he would wait because he is young, not so smart man.
Chavez said he would 1st need a procedure to remove the chief then he could have one.

Why doesn't the eye ever write about APS? They have the second largest budget in the state, they graduate less than 50% of students, and they want to raise our taxes.

APS is the worst governing body in the state. I am sure they waiste tens of millions more dollars than the city HR department.

Our property taxes are going up and most of that money goes to APS but they are still demanding more. Investigate APS and let us know how we can fight back.

geeze, what does the eye have against APD? if they know everything about APD they would know that not every 34 in these specialized units can take calls for service... ever heard of undercover??

Anonymous said...

There are too many city employees who do NOTHING all day. They need to be FIRED. Why does the private sector have to lay people off but these FREELOADERS keep drawing a paycheck?!

Anonymous said...

Typical lately of they "eye", to divide and try to conquer. How come I know a vertically challenged, but not misfed Sgt is behind all these tactics?

Anonymous said...

Last time I checked APD is a para-military organization. That means we all agreed to take orders from higher ranks, whether they be sergeants, lieutenants, commanders, chiefs, or the mayor. In my 16+ years on this department I have seen many Chiefs, several mayors, and dozens of bitter cops. I hope that in this forum I find support from other officers that are proud to put on their uniform each day, hold their head high when they tell others that they are APD officers, and that they too depise those who tear each other down on this website. Should I sign my name? If I do I am a kiss ass to those who hate everything about this great agency, and if I do not I am a pussy to those who believe as I do. Who am I? I am the cop that would never dishonor my badge, nor would I dishonor my brothers and sisters. I do not agree or support all of the administrative decisions being made, but I am a soldier that follows orders. The "dictator" that you hate has twice given the largest police raises in this City's history. So as a cop, I support him. As a citizen, the city is cleaner, 311 works, and graffiti is gone in minutes if you call. Let's not forget how good our medians and the Big I interchange look since Marty decided that landscaping does not consist of tumbleweeds growing wherever they want. Here's your chance to bash me, since many of you will. To those people I say, get used to mediocrity and animosity because that's all you have to offer. To the rest of the cops that actually care about this city, its' citizens', and our reputation, it's time to let the minority know how the majority really feels. We do a damn good job and we are proud of who we are!

Anonymous said...

Cannot Take calls for service? omg! That is a typical cop excuse. Maybe you have your work cut out for you in your "special unit", but there are many APD units that literally and without shame (and some proud of the fact) 'f' off during their shift! All the sudden you are undercover. That prevents you from you from helping? Well, go uncover yourself and get in a damn pool car and clear up some calls! It might be your son or daughter out there!
And check this out. On the way to work this morning around 5:00 AM, I was north on Coors at Montano and there were two cars stopped by cops. It was still dark and very little traffic. I thought these poor guys are going to work and get stopped (and I would bet my left testicle the infractions were minor. The very same traffic infractions the cops are guilty of on and off duty. Hypocrites!). Mean while I bet (my same testicle) there were calls holding. Makes me sick that the working Joe pays their wage, while the real sleaze bags are accosting the same working Joe.
Same with AFD. Why the hell are they always at Walmart? Looking for a wife? Three of them walk around checking out the married women while one shops for a jar of spaghetti sauce! And on top of it they get rock star parking for their polished pumper! How base Albuquerque (and NM for that matter) is from the top down and all around. People need to start working! Where did the work ethic go?
And if your asking again how would I know? Well, at one time I was an initiate of "Albuquerque's Finest" realizing that title is a misnomer and that Plato was right.

Are you talking about all specialized units? Are they all not doing their jobs? What a blanket statement.Give me a break eye. Your stretching it. Sounds like the eye is a field unit...

michelle meaders said...

"Why doesn't the eye ever write about APS?"

Probably because they have no experience with it. You need to read Diogenes Six, which specializes in writing about APS by a former teacher who was wronged.

To anonymous who wrote; Investigate APS and let us know how we can fight back.

If you really want to fight back;

Demand an impartial standards and accountability audit, before the upcoming bond election for $650M.

Show up at a board meeting, first and third Wednesdays at 5:00 with a big sign that reads,
No Audit,
No more money.

Get there before 5, sign up for the forum, and demand an impartial audit.

Write to the Journal, and insist that they investigate and report upon the ethics and accountability scandal in the leadership of the APS.

Maybe the 'investigative reporter' could visit the APD basement and see how hard the Records Department works. They are understaffed, work shifts 24/7 and have NEVER had a visit from the Chief or a pat on the back. Maybe some of the 'non working APD' personnel could go downstairs and lend them a hand. Just saying.....

Anonymous said...

Sounds as if the Eye has hit a nerve with a particular specialized unit. Remember when Ray Boy was in charge of DWI and scammed all the over time. History repeats itself!

Anonymous said...

Thank you for the info about APS. I will read the blogs. I whish we could email the board and have the email read at the meeting. It is impossible to make it to the meeting at 5 if you have a job.

They need to put APS board meetings on TV so people can record them.

If APS would educate our kids, we might not need more cops.

ched macquigg said...

Anonymous wrote; "It is impossible to make it to the meeting at 5 if you have a job. "

Bingo!

They do sometimes broadcast the meeting the following Saturday on TalNet, Channel 96 in the afternoon.

Often it not broadcast at all, or the audio is missing. It's always something.

wonder if that ch7 reporter will talk about that officer thats been on paid leave for 2years now because of some craziness in los lunas?

Here, here to the above poster. 7:22 cry cry cry is all I ever hear. No one stands up to whomever they are crying about. But you guys are like crabs in a bucket. To the bitch above complaining about the traffic stop on Montano, get a life. IF you were cop, you were not very good. Your sniveling about a traffic stop? Please. And to those (including the eye)who are talking about sid, sorry you didnt make it there. Better luck next ten times you try.

Anonymous said...

Well I watched the story and it was about folks on admin leave. Never mentioned any specialized unit within APD.

As far as an investigation on APS, I know for a fact that the EYE was set info on APS dealing with the most recent ruling by NMPED regarding RGHS and APS and the EYE did nothing. Maybe the EYE has ties with APS which would include the ties APS has with the Journal, a few news stations and numerous attornies.

More is forthcoming about APS, forwarded to NMPED and the FEDS. The public will see the truth through a few of the public media outlets. Don't hold your breathe for the EYE or the JOURNAL to tell the truth.

It's time for the EYE to realize that the puplic is watching it.

"Last time I checked APD is a para-military organization"-

Definitions:

Paramilitary - A paramilitary is a force whose function and organization are similar to those of a professional military force, but which is not regarded as having the same status.

Soldier - An enlisted man or woman who serves in an army.

Citizen - A person that is a legally recognized resident of a city or town.

WOW! Where do I start? In one bold statement you are a "citizen" (I assume your suggesting a pillar of the community) that is proud of Albuquerque. Is that because of the Mayor? The citizens? No more tumble weeds? Sorry, Albuquerque is still a desert. I do agree you're a "citizen", but what kind of citizen are you?
You're a "soldier" as well. This really cracks me up. Please tell us what "soldiering" you do at work that justifies that title.
Following orders does not constitute a paramilitary organization. I'm sorry, but whatever job or profession you choose in life requires following guidelines, policies, regulations, etc...So, if the Mayor "orders" you to go pull weeds, will you follow those "orders"? No, you'll go crying to your union claiming unfair labor practices! And you claim to be a soldier?
This is the 'imagination of grandeur' that plagues the police department and that many APD officers truely subscribe to.
Police officers are not soldiers, warriors, or hero's. You are citizens that swore an oath to uphold and enforce the Constitution of the United States. Not the constitution of Mayor Marty Chavez. Not the constitution of Albuquerque Police Officers Union. And certainly not the constitution of what ever bullshit your fed in briefings. You know, the motivational speeches given by your fearles captains: You are warriors! Subduers of evil! The modern Jedi Knights! Soldiers of Albuquerque. Be safe out there and may the force be with you and happy hunting! BTW don't forget to turn in your monthly quota by the end of shift. And I need a volunteer to watch a detainee at the hospital for half their shift.
If mediocrity is what you say we should accept, then I say the "citizens" (yourself included) really ad their asses handed to them when you got your raise. And if your theory is right about the majority, next time let the citizens decide if you deserve your raise! Trust me, most people are indifferent about law enforcement. Don't flatter yourself.

And one last thing, you're right that you shouldn't of listed your name. Not because of being a pussy or a kiss ass, but because you are a misguided, confused, and delusional person with a serious identity crisis.

Common eye, post my response to paramilitary. That supervisor needs a reality check. pleas oh please post it haha

In response to: "Last time I checked APD is a para-military organization."

Read your response, then go back and use a dictionary to define many of the terms you proudly use. I bet your understanding of those terms are in conflict of the true meaning. I then hope it effects a change in your belief system.

APD is not the fundamental unit of Albuquerque! You are a mere pawn whether you realize it or not. If the former, then you are a slave. You are more appropriately regarded as an unenlightened Crusader fighting and dying for someone else's rediculous illusion. Wake up man!

Until we all accept personal responsibility as an individual and employ it daily, only then will things become better! As far as APS, APD, AFD, and the city council goes, they are a means to an end. Failing entities in a failing system. If I am wrong, then why are so many people unhappy? This Website, the rumors, the complaining, the lawsuits validate disharmony.

The real education should start and finish at home. Do not trust soley in the appearance of things, because everything is a part of cause and effect. You accept Marty because of your raise or one less tumble weed. He didn't do that for you! He did it for self gain. Marty is many things, but NOT ignorant. Many people insult his intelligence, but why then has he remained in office for so long? He has aquired a set of people skills that is not taught during formal education. Now, ask yourself where the ignorance lies?

Albuquerque is synonomous with ignorance! Yes, I am attacking the majority of the citizens out there that keep putting them in office for whatever reason.
Be that as it may...my comments are not to encite anger or despair, but to get people to start thinking and doing for themselves!

I am with you guy who started this stream. I want to slack off and get paid too. Let's go to the DWI unit so we can slack off by being constantly sleep deprived because we spend 20-30 hours per week in court plus worked our 40 hour work week. We too can spend less than one hour per day with our families and be unable to have any sort of a personal life because of our court docket!!! Show me where to sign up!!!!

Anonymous said...

I can use the overtime! I'll sleep between arrests. There is no job like working in the DWI unit. I'll retire a wealthy man and all of the responsible drinkers will be paying legal fees! The state will be paying me.

Anonymous said...

Are you forced to be a DWI officer? Your comment gives me the idea you don't like being a DWI officer. Is it the money from court OT that motivates you? A feeling of accomplishment by getting drunks off the street?

I don't hear nurses and M.D.'s and other healthcare professionals complaining about the hours they put in nearly as much as I hear government employees complain about their job. Could you imagine ovhearing a Dr. complaining outside your room how tired he/she is, how they haven't been able to BBQ with their frinds/family, how they are salary/no union and overworked? Would you feel a little dismayed? And there are proponents of government controlled healthcare! Aye Yae Yae! Hear comes the pain!

I know there are a few healthcare professional that do, but for the majority I truly believe they are in it because they genuinely want to help people so long as the compensation is appropriate to personal devotion invloved.

Now, I feel the same way about officers and firefighters (for the most part I believe most want to genuinely help people), but the public exaltaion they desire and complaining are polar opposites.

So long as you have a union, openly complain about labor practices, tolerate officers that misrepresent the occupation and disregard laws (termination, not suspension, is demonstrating intolerance) your job will be viewed for what it is. Blue collar work. If you seek more respect and appreciation, I'm affraid you must look elsware.

"Here, here to the above poster. 7:22 cry cry cry is all I ever hear...."

LMFAO! Sounds like I hit a nerve. Even though I hate doin it, I'm relegated to now rolling around in the mud with you (no pun intended oink oink lol).

I got you figured out! You're the cop that bolsters big talk in briefings, huh. Right after briefing you hit up your favorite fast food restaurant for your free dinner. Then find a nice quiet place out of public view with your crony and talk about all the "pussies" on the department that don't deserve to wear the "badge". You eat, sleep, and live that macho, gun-ho, badge totin bullshit philosophy you call police work. I bet you told everyone your gonna be SWAT one day. I bet your at every SWAT call with that glistening in your eye when they pull out what you call their "toys". Then hobnob with them after the call not realizing you get on their f'ing nerves!

Am I remotely close? I guess I'll never know, because you would never admit to it.

You call me a sniveling bitch. Sorry bubba, I didn't shed a tear that morning.

You tell me to get a life. Don't know exactly what you mean by that one, but I'll take a stab at it. I'm guessing because I don't agree with your pathetic philosophy and narrow view of the world. BTW you just insulted a lot of people with that comment.

You call me a bad cop. Well, that accusation is relative and depends on what you mean by "bad". I admit I was lazy and mooched off tax payer dollars, avoided politics, and participated in unethical behavior. I knew it was wrong and probably justified my behavior at the time, but I have done my penance since then, washed my hands, and learned my lesson.

Last but not least...Karma baby! If nothing else you get from this, remember this one thing: What you do today, will certainly affect you in the future.

With that, happy hunting bubba ;~)

Regarding the diatribe on civilians, police, and the military. You miss a significant point: What are military personnel off base? Civilians.

For those ragging on the illustrious Captain from the valley...I can't say I envy you. My experiences with him were some of the best because he always led from the front and was among the best 82 from supervisors I've worked for.

Forget these fools Rob, you know who's got your back.

Well, AFD must have read that previous comment. They are at Walmart again, but change of venue tonight. They're boot collecting or fill the boot or whatever they call it. Didn't see any inside buying sphagetti sauce or winking at the ladies this time. I guess there's always room for change.

I have a little advice for you guys though. If you're going to raise money, try Smith's, Albertson's, or Costco where the customers earn a little more.

Anonymous said...

It's the attitude and action I reprimand, not the person. Everyone can and will change. Why was it mostly young 34's bid for the "warrior"? Moldable. Why is it crabs in the "golden" bucket nip? Insight and experience.

The "warrior" is content with his identity. He follows no one but his belief system. I respect that. However, he still lives in the Edo period. People are a little different now.

History has proven leading from the front is not always a good thing. Leaders can get so narrow sighted, they start slapping arround their own. Patton or Ghandi are prime examples.

Anonymous said...

For all the "Warrior" bashing let me say that there were a few.. perhaps more than a few, who should have been kept in a glass case with a sign that said "Break glass in case of violent event". Unfortunately we didnt have that option -- however most of you know that some of the "warrior" types were exactly the ones you wanted around on those 5% of events where you needed them --- and many of you secretly envied them and their ability to not give a f*** what the rest of you thought of them.
Rob and many others of his ilk -- who(m) were also mostly friends of his, were those kinds of dudes.
Stop being keyboard terrorists ...

Trust me, the tougher you think you are, the less you've been exposed too.

Captn Debuck sold his soul and not very many officers trust him. We all know he is in the Mayor's and Chief's rear pocket. When his BF, Chief Schultz transfered him to the SE command, no officers followed him from the Valley. Further, the SE command which has always been the first to fill up during the bid, did not fill like in past years. It ended up filling up much later because of the new Captn Debuck. Seasoned officer did not want to work for him! Captn Debuck is know as being two faced and stabbing his friends in the back to get ahead. That's why he never made DC. He has even been two faced to Mayor Chavez, backing Baca, Winter and others as well. They Captn knows how to play politics very well!

Anonymous said...

Then the Samurai were pretty damn redundant.

I once had the opportunity to work for a captain in the SE. He did lead from the front, took care of his officers, didn't take any BS from the fifth floor and was sent packing. Where is our leadership today?

Anonymous said...

Sent packing,,, his BFF is Chief Schultz. I can't believe the Capt was working and not trying to hustle some young girls for a date.

Anonymous said...

What a crock! The only person the Warrior Cpt took care of was hisself! The majority of time that I worked for him in the Valley, all he did was bring female news reporters into his office and then walk them around the sub to show them off. The sleezeball was always trying to date them. Everyone on the dept knows this, including the chief. We all laugh at the old man who thinks he's in his 30's.

As far as running a Command. Captain de Buck made it very clear his Command was a dictatorship and that he was the dictator!

Now that I am a supervisor, I pride myself in being nothing like he was. Oh, he would treat his fellow warrior's(karate)types good, but that's it.
