The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Shocker!!!! APOA Endorses The Almighty Alcalde!!!

Yeah... we know. You're still catching your breath after this startling turn of events. The public consummation of APOA President Joey Sagala's back room deal with the devil took place today a little before noon. 770's Peter St. Cyr has some pretty good coverage over on his blog (read/hear it here) complete with interviews from both R.J. Berry and Richard Romero.

We've told you how Sagala fixed this thing from the very beginning (read it here). Mayoral interviews were held in January when the only announced candidate was Michael Cadigan. Our Eyes tell us the APOA Political Hack-tion Committe run by Sagala only extended an invitation to one of the current candidates who spent all his time talking about being "green." Just guess who that candidate was.

One would think that if Marty were really concerned about public safety, he'd take the opportunity to talk about, ohh we don't know... public safety to those whose job it is to keep the public safe. Instead, the mayor for life talked about recycling. We sure feel safer.

Look these endorsements don't mean anything when they're the result of strong-arm tactics and back room deals. Only time will tell what deal Joey cut and whether it will help Marty win. But the APOA ought to start considering who's representing them and whether or not they really do represent them.

----- Correction -----
One of our Eyes just sent us one of The Almighty Alcalde's press releases touting the above back room deal. We immediately noticed that we had been misspelling APOA President Sagala's last name. We want to apologize to Officer Sagala and any other Joey Segallas out there for our mistake. It's been corrected above and we'll work to correct it in our other posts.

Did you hear the ad on 770 kob? Whoever read it needs to go back to pre-K.

I thought the PAC was supposed to interview all the candidates. Not just one???

This union has never been ethical which is why they are losing so many members.

What did Martin Chavez promise him to get it?

I can tell you from the very start of the APOA PAC process, they would send a questionnaire to all candidates, conduct formal interviews with all the candidates by members of the PAC and poll members. This was the process used to endorse candidates. Joey needs to answer to the membership why the process was not followed!

This amounted to a hand job!

Joey looked like a deer in front of headlights.

Wrong, the endorsement does not mean anything because Chavez is the far better man for the job; he will win regardless.

I thoought I saw a post sometime back that said Marty gave the PD the biggest raise.. Was this the biggest in a few years? than other Mayors? What are the facts>

Ignore the spin that will be forthcoming from the APOA saying Romero or Berry won't honor forthcoming raises or other issues.

Now we know where the APOA's $300K went.

If Joey is anything like his dad Fil Sigala, then good luck APOA. Sorry Eye you still spelled the last name wrong. It's Sigala.

sigalla, sigala, sagalla, sagalla? WTF? guess its just plain ol Joey! Joey Chavez It appears.

All the endorsements is an indication of is Joey believes Marty will win, so to play it safe he is openly endorsing Martin Chavez. Martin if wins, then Joey will say, "See, now where are those pay raises that you promised?" The APOA members will not vote for Marty on paper during the election. Joey probably won't either. Rememeber, how a person actually votes is kept confidential. Joey is playing Marty. If Marty wins, then other voters, not Joey and APOA voted for Marty. Joey et all.... are probably in reality hoping Marty doesn't. A huge pay raise last year and the year before is not likely to be an indication of another pay raise. Just in case he does win again, Joey will be there to try and bargain for higher pay again.

Joey doesn't want to gamble with the bargaining and risk any future bargaining. Berry and/or Romero might be like that Horse
from New Mexico that won the Kentucky Derby and Joey deep down will be glad for a new leader and a fresh start without anything from the past kicking up dust again.

First, the APOA should not be endorsing anyone for any office. This is not the realm for public safety officers who shoud be non-political. Second, the APOA pac is limited to a handful of officers thereby negating in some cases the wishes of its officers as a whole. I feel for these officers, they pour money into the APOA and ahve no say.

Simply put this is machine politics and should not be tolerated. Chavez has gone against the will of those who voted for the City Charter. Three terms is enough.

The Journal got Joey's last name wrong too.

Every member of the APOA had the opportunity to be on the Political Action Committee (PAC). Everyone who wanted to was and no one was turned away.

The PAC voted for the endorsement (which is allowed per the by laws that have been in place for numerous years).

This was not one persons decision or that of the Executive Board. It was a decision by those members who chose to participate in the PAC.

For those APOA members bitching about the process...next time take part in it.

For those not in the APOA, your opinion means nothing.

By the way, I won't be voting for Marty....never have and never will.

"Martin if wins, then Joey will say, "See, now where are those pay raises that you promised?"

Joey is playing Marty. If Marty wins, then other voters, not Joey and APOA voted for Marty."

I had coffee coming out of my nose when I read this. Are you living in another galaxy?

Joey does not have the balls and courage to do any such thing. Didn't you see the press conference, Joey's head was buried so deep inside Marty's ass, I thought he was going to suffocate.

Most of us that know Joey, know very well that he is way over his head and is just content to sit behind Marty waving the flag.
Wake up idiot!

The reality is we have to endorse the Mayor. He is going to win and we all know that if we do not endorse him, we will face retaliation when he wins. This is the stark reality in the Duke City. All of us who work for the city understand this.

Can we get rid of copperfire now?

Good for the APOA glad to see their endorsement. If the membership does not care for it, then vote out your elected reps. But stop your crying. It'getting old.

Something this important should have been brought to the APOA membership for a vote...

Endorse you you may to keep his rath off of you but vote Marty out!

Vote Him to downtown duty and let him get his a(* kicked by all the drunks why we stand in ONLY a group of two and watch as 8-10 drunks get in a fight and he tries to break it up. Come on Union you need to stand up to him.

"All City of Albuquerque police officer employees, with the exception of Rehires, participate in the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). Police officers are eligible to retire after 20 years of service and regardless of age. Upon retirement, officers will receive 70% of their pay from the last three years of their employment. Police officers who wish to retire after 22 years and 10 months, will receive 80% of their pay from the last three years of their employment"

When was the ceiling raised to 20 years? Do/are pre-existing members grandfathered in????

If our union is backslapping with the mayor how do you expect them to be there when you need them? You don't have to be jerk but you do have to have some back bone.

Here's Phoenix PD's unio pres:

The answer to your question is.

Yes! Police, Fire, and Corrections is Grandfathered, and IS NOT part of the New Legislation to up the PERA 25 year Retirement on Public Safety.

Although not to throw anyone under the bus here, but NOT 1 single APOA Board member of old under (Olivas)was ever in Santa Fe Lobbying for this.

IF we are to be honest with each other and respect one another here then Albuquerque Area Firefighters Local 244 should recognized for ALL their Collective efforts in Santa Fe.

Yes! Local 244 President Diego Arencon represented the interest of APOA in Santa Fe.

Look into it, and tell me if my facts are wrong.

Thank You, Local 244 for working your asses off for my Family, and Me.

I wonder if in the event Marty ever said something or did something really stupid the leaders of the APOA would ever step up and call him on it publicly? Police unions in the northeast all banded together and called the president to task for his dumb comments but for some reason our chaps are terrified of Marty. Sad.

I agree, I can't imagine that chavez said something so stupid and no one had a tape recorder running. Come on. We just keep getting worse. big rumor that mccabe is pushing to promote his buddy to take over Castro's job that would be the ever present idiot hudson. Just say no to chavez everyone need to vote no.
