White ignited the drama according to today’s Journal (see here). White apparently acted childish and decided to report ADA Drager for a post that she placed on the “Fans of APD” Facebook page. This is the same site that White claims is bad and that he “never” goes to. ADA Drager posted several comments on the Fans of APD Facebook page including one concerning White. According to the Journal, the post was describing Albuquerque Public Safety Director Darren White as a “political appointee that (doesn’t) actually do anything.” Everyone knows this is a true statement; other than his new job of being a tattletale.
According to the article, “Brandenburg said she learned about the posts from White on Saturday and began reviewing Drager’s posts immediately.” Drager expressed an opinion and never represented herself as a representative of the DA’s Office. To summarize the bottom line, this ADA did nothing wrong and did not violate any policies of the DA’s Office. Brandenburg clearly knows and understands First Amendment Rights and knows not to infringe on them. White on the other hand is simply trying to instigate problems since he really doesn’t have a real job. It is doubtful that Brandenburg is going to do White’s dirty work for him, he will have to do it himself.
White needs to learn just like an irresponsible two year old that there is a difference between being a tattletale and reporting. What White did is an example of being a “Cry Baby Sally” and being a tattletale. When someone threatens another person’s life and you bring it forth to the proper authorities; that is reporting. White needs to grown up and accept responsibility for the mess that he alone has created. We have enough real fires burning here in New Mexico without a tattletale like Darren White igniting more over his hurt little feelings.
Here is one last note for the record. The title of the Journal story was, “Asst. DA Uses Facebook To Blast Fed Case.” The majority of the story centers on White being a tattletale and what the ADA posted that hurt White’s feelings. This is just another cheap shot for the Journal.
Mayor Berry has a real winner on his hands. Re-election keeps getting slimmer and slimmer for what may be a One-Term-Mayor. Good for you Berry!

with close to 70% approval rating it is going to be interesting to see how insignificant this blog will be rendered when the Berry administration goes for a landslide second term... Then what eye?
George Bush had a 91% approval rating the year before he lost to Bill Clinton. That 70% rating will buckle faster than Darren's bum knee when the hits start coming. There's going to be a landslide. But it ain't the kind you're thinking.
Why is Kari Brandenburg looking into what an ADA said in her spare time on an internet forum where she didn't identify an affiliation with the DAO instead of asking her ADA from Gangs why he requested probation at an armed robbery sentencing because the defendant had already spent 18 months in custody on his PV (so he was also a felon in possession of a firearm), he only showed his gun to the victim and then put it away before politely asking for his wallet (yes, saying "please" is apparently a mitigating factor for armed robbery) and it "wasn't the worst armed robbery" the ADA had ever seen. This happened yesterday before Judge Flores. This sort of thing is routine at the DAO, where they promote mediocrity and apathy and do everything possible to run out their competent and passionate prosecutors. I used to think the defense bar and the judiciary were the reason Albuquerque is crime-ridden.
Under the Freedom of Information Act any Executive Branch of Government (including Mayors and his appointments) are subjected to hand over any and all documents including emails and text messages ( since I'm sure he has a City phone.) it would be interesting to see what things Darren and the Mayor have been plotting. funny enough Darren will see this message and start erasing files and deleting text messages. Well Darren those aren't gone there are ways to retrieve messages. Unless you get a new computer.

It's contract negotiation time once again and I hear they're wanting all city employees (not the exempt and admin. people of course) to pay 1% MORE toward the health care. I heard they also got a raise, not much, 1%, but they also recently got their pay cut back. Oh yeah, and they don't want to negotiate for giving us back what they took....it's also getting bad for non-fire and non-police out there.....I hope you guys will back us when & if the protest at civic plaza happens sometime soon I heard.

Instead of White worried about who is posting about him what about the Narcs who stopped a car without a marked unit and a little badge that no one could see. I think that would be of importance and would be the start of a internal IA. And the car "matched the description" really? If I was the driver I would ask what the description was and if I had tinted windows would you know what I looked like? I think there is a lot of case law on this. Is Commander West gonna stand up and start his a IA or let all his officers run a muck on the citizens. I wished I woulda been in that car because I need early retirement for unlawful detention.

In today's Albuquerque Journal (Editorial page), Ken Sanchez commented on the public safety tax issue. He blasted Darren White for his public comments. In short, Darren doesn't know what he's talking about.
Chief Shultz not standing by his people, Darren Running around like a mad man, Berry walking around with eyes wide shut? I think it's time for members of APD to save the city some gas money and find some really good shade trees to hide under. You can't get in trouble if you're not making contact with the public right? Let Berry explain the increase in crime, maybe people will learn to appreciate you like you should be appreciated. Keep your heads up and lay low for a while.

Well tell them to fuck off. Let them try to discipline you for not meeting a quota. That is where APOA steps in, and even if they don't there's case law punishing the fuck out of dept's that try to. Most recently LAPD paid out several million to two traffic officers that refused to meet "performance expectations".
Don't mistake this for not taking calls or providing 82. But they can't discipline you for not meeting 40 hard tickets a month.
Quotas? They can't write up everyone. And if you need your daily dose of tickets, I'm sure Darren and the Mayor violate several traffic laws everyday to and from work.
