As APD's Ray Schultz was put under the microscope of the US Department of Justice today, we expected Mr. Schultz's actions to be swift and severe. And sure enough they were. Later today Mr. Schultz released the names of officer's on the department's "Early Warning System" (EWS). In years past, officers found themselves on the EWS because of 5 or more incidents of force or complaints in a given twelve month period. This doesn't mean they've done anything wrong...it's simple math: more contacts=more arrests=more complaints/use of force. Officer were then generally briefed by the their chain of command about and continued on with their duties. If there were indeed discipline issues resulting in placement on the EWS then that was handled as well.
Because this information personnel file related information it was treated confidentially and was not for public dissemination. It's easy to see why as being listed on the EWS could be viewed as having done something wrong when in fact the opposite is true. Most officers who are on the EWS are extremely hardworking and model police officers. We will not release the names of the officers on this site. We refuse to allow Mr. Schultz a stage to further violate these officers rights to privacy. At this point; the officers on that list have not been found guilty of anything.
This all changed today. Mr. Schultz had declared war on his own personnel by releasing this information to the public. Mr. Schultz shoved many good officers under the bus in an effort to divert attention away from his own ineptness.

A bus driver?!?!?
They should only let him wash the busses. I wouldn't let that clown drive anything that I didn't want driven into the ground!
Get your best spin going chief. Burn the midnight oils. Contrive, and rehearse. It's not going to help. They are here now.
way to go Schultz and Berry....burn hard working cops. their are sergeants, k-9, detectives, and field units on that list that have forgotten more about policing then you have ever known.
this is bullshit and an obvious effort to quiet everybody. of course the media is gonna spin this list--and lord knows i've been on it--but these are good cops. fuck you ray!
here's an idea, post a list of all the stars who have been tagged for civil rights abuses and perjury, why don't you post that ray?
A true sign of desperation! Its not me! Its not me! I have bad officers! What a D-Bag! When the accusations start flying around, we will see who spills their guts-speaking of guts-isnt that right TJ? We will see if Proctor still wants your job after he sees how much weight you will loose during questioning! Wear a diaper!
The Eye is like that jam packed Christmas stocking hung by the chimney with care, and full of all those goodies you can't wait to see, except it's every morning you get to see them.
Looks like the grinch is in for it this year. Maybe the ghost of Christmas past will drag his sorry ass through the last six years.
Shultz, your the coach of these team (apd). Instead of leading it to success, you set up your quarterback (officers) to get sacked on each play. Who does that?
Please investigate the Mary Han death scene. If something is screaming for justice this is it.
They are going to ask why 34s never gave ray a no confidence vote if they thought he was so horrible.
There are 49 names on the list that was released. As The Eye stated being on the list does not mean an officer has done anything wrong .In all the years I served as Sgt. for A.P.D I found that in most cases the officer had done nothing wrong. The fact of the matter is the harder you work, the more times you will get on the list. I will not release the names however if you want to know if you are on the list contact me.
As good friend and model 34 said to me, "I wouldnt let that guy drive a nail!"
Typical Ray Schultz "leadership" style: Deny, Deflect, Blame others. Did we ever hear our "chief" say, "As Chief I am responsible for this mess, and as such I hold myself accountable"...? Not a fuck'n chance. What did he do instead? He tossed out the names of officers who are on the EWS..whoop dee friggn do.
Hey Schultz, guess what. I spoke with a fed about you and the grant application lies. This is my notice to the 5th floor and consider this compliance with your Hitler's oath memo.
Is a confidentiality agreement when salary is being paid out of tax payer dollars even legal? Truly legal or just according to KL?
Levy is worthless. Confidentiality agreements dnt mean shit when illegal activity is going on.
Confidentiality agreements are not binding when there is a crime being committed.
