NOTE: Whomever took this photo deserves an award--truly outstanding! |
Thanks to the failed leadership of Richard Berry, Robert Perry, Gordon Eden and the untold number of APD lieutenants and commanders, this is where things stand in the wake of yesterday's mess.
In front of a world watching a lone protestor sat down in front of a skirmish line of highly armored and armed police officers. The very force that Berry, Perry, and Eden have used to cripple this city in almost every sense imaginable.
And off to the right of the picture you can see the irony of all of this. Supervisors standing there smoking and joking acting as if this is just another coffee break at the local Giant.
Here's some news for you fellas, it's all over. When Jay McClesky's other client, Governor Susana Martinez advised her staff to release NMSP records directly to the FBI from the March 16 incident with James Boyd, she all but slammed the door on Berry.
It is no longer a question of IF Berry and his overpriced dog Perry fold, but when......
Welcome to the 'Burque Spring......
To the rank and file of APD, please be safe and remember your oath is to the United States and New Mexico Constitutions.

You are part of the problem you breed hate and discontent by posting crap, some of it complete b.s. some baseless personal attacks
What has happened to the once great Albuquerque Police Department?... .the department that once protected the citizens and righted wrongs? Berry, Perry, Schultz, and now Eden have sunk this fine organization into the mud. Good cops are afraid to step forward and speak the truth, fearing reprisals. Business men the likes of Korny-butt are too busy protecting profits made possible through graft to demand action. I read a comment on another Eye story that referred to the actions of some APD cops as the Nazis at Nuremberg who bewailed they were only "following orders". Time for the good 34s to step up, ignore "the orders" and do what morality dictates to be the right path. Berry, Perry, and Eden must go, maybe now, the citizens of Albuquerque will grow something in their sacks and demand action!
I have read more positive comments about the way APD officers handled this fiasco on all the TV network posts than here. Did you see or were you there? The crowd at first was there for Boyd. It turned into a cop hating mob creating unsafe environment for citizens, police and the protesters. I'm sure you have seen what happened. Folks on social media are finally calling out the press as portraying the cops as the bad guys on this one. This mob turned viscious and i believe they would have started burning stuff, looting and worse had APD not taken to their riot control measures. While Berry Perry Eden sat watching from their ivory tower the footsoldiers made sure these thugs didn't burn our city down. Thank you women & men on the ground putting your lives in danger to protect the citizens and businesses of Albuquerque.
Well spoken.
10:50....like what? Name something posted here that has been untrue or baseless.
Fruit doesn't spoil overnight, you allowed this crap to get out of control, Mary Han, Banks, turkey neck, Berry's thong girlfriend, it all grew, and you did nothing, an eye for an eye, someone should have shot some cops last night, then it becomes fair....wake you dumbass up and get rid of the snakes.....
The only two places to get the flipping truth, this site and Monahan, which he writes the following:
Mayor Berry won election in 2009 thanks in large part to Democrats splitting their votes between two of their candidates and the work of Jay McCleskey, now known as the "Fifth Floor" because of his Svengali like influence over Governor Martinez. One of Berry's first actions before taking office was to name Darren White, a close McCleskey associate, as the Public Safety Director, a position that under Chavez had been largely ceremonial . However, Berry made White the boss of the police chief, giving him full control of the department. Berry also brought into his administration another McCleskey/White insider, Rob Perry, now chief administrative officer.
I found this video: "A Marine and Soldier Take Back the Flag from Protesters." At first, the video made me smile. But then, the actions of these men made me proud. I thought that everyone should see it: http://youtu.be/MG1xsENCaQA
Albuquerque Spring we need it now. I fully support our APD but now is the time for our brothers in blue to stand up and help take back the city from the corrupt city government. It is up to everyone to take back the city
Berry seen at the Journal Center this morning meeting with editor Kent Walz. Look for the Journal to come to Berry's aid very soon. Ir's the least Waltz can do for thw hillbilly after Berry spent millions of tax dollars advertising with that shit paper and putting Walz's brother Jerry on the City Hall gravy train.
Everyone involved in the protest has had a bad experience or has been arrested by a cop. Cop haters is what they are that's why they were acting like out of control monkeys. APD did a great job controlling the situation. Come on eye get with it.
You 1050 are THE problem because you remain silent.
Here's one, I'm a cop and glad I had weekends off!!
To all of you that still don’t get it. It’s people like you that are the reason why New Mexico is ranked at the bottom. You could have a brick fall on your head and still wonder why you have a headache. Educate yourself and look at the facts. Speaking of facts, we haven’t even analyzed the Redwine case yet.
And to you Berry, dividing this community is not what a good leader does. You’d better address what the citizens have been saying for a long time since Pandora’s box has now opened and the Energy is flooding this community. Any good leader knows what could happen next. The next rally/protest could end up causing a confrontation and dividing the citizens against each other. That will only make it worse for you and prove your ineffective leadership. I hope you now realize that TRUTH MATTERS.
chief Eden should resign and all this will calm way down! He should have never been given that job anyhow, he's not qualified!
Step down Chief Eden for the sake of APD's future!
NO LOOTING, NO FIRES, NO DEATHS;
But lots and lots of media coverage. Very very well done and honestly expressing and reflecting the zeitgeist ! At least some risked their security to shout it out while pussies stayed safe and cozy and can critique mindlessly. WALK YOUR TALK.
Many years ago someone foolishly commented about angry mobs "LET THEM EAT CAKE "
I have some friends in Canada. The ballon they pilot will not be here for the Fiesta! Good job APD, Berry! My friends are not alone! I will say a 15% drop in pilots/attendance!
COP HATERS! What foolishness..I submit there are those posting here that have their noses so far up Berry and Eden's butts they'll never see the sun. Come on, think for yourselves! The APD was the problem the protesters hit the streets for. Don't call the cops heroes...it was APD that threatened heavy-handed action first, I was THERE! I don't hate cops, my son is a cop (fortunately, not here), but I think he would be ashamed of many cops in APD. I did not protest, just went to observe and the cops came out in full tactical gear in order to intimidate. The cops mere approach to the protesters was very similar to how the cops chided that fellow camping to act in such a manner to allow them to use deadly force. Good cops can defuse a situation, not inflame it! So keep posting shit you know nothing about! By the way, the few sources of truth in Albuquerque media about APD is this blog and Joe Monahan...you sure can't get the truth from KRQE, KOB, or the Journal! They are in Berry's pockets and from how I read some of the posts to this column, so are many of those posting here!
Berry is constantly calling Ken Waltz for approval on his policies and programs to get positive editorials. The Journal will now do an editorial on how well Berry and Eden handled the protest marchers but fail to report anything on where Berry was during the 8 days after the shooting which is the main event what got us here and led to the protests in the first place. The Editorial should hit either Wednesday or Thursday or Sunday to get the most bang. Some studies show that only about 5% of a papers readers on the day an Editorial runs actually read the editorial. Berry and Perry regularly go out and meet with the Journal Editors to get their buy in and make them feel important and relevant. The Journal wants to promote Berry for Governor or US Senator to push the Republican Right Wing agenda. The Journal Editors know Berry and Perry are schmucks, but they are their schmucks. The Editorial will give a back handed complement to APD for maintaining order and showing restraint and then heap praise on Berry for his courage in the face of a difficult situation. The sooner the Journal rag folds, the better this community will be. There killing a lot of good trees to print one very bad paper.
Who even bothers with the Journal anymore. They would be out of business if Berry and his people weren't funding them.
Las Cruces Protest of APD shooting of James Boyd set for April 2
http://www.grass-roots-press.com/2014/03/31/las-cruces-protest-of-apd-shooting-of-james-boyd-set-for-april-2/
Remember all you high-testosterone, 20 somethings, we love you and appreciate what you are doing. But please don’t confuse the culture at APD as being the same as in Las Cruces. LC cops should be treated with respect. I wish I could say the same for the State and Governor Martinez’s leadership with the boys at NMSP.
Your article is very well written! Thanks for showing that there is intelligent life in NM.
Appreciate your help!
I am surprised Berry didn't flee the city again like he did after Boyd.
Remember Berry's staff said he was in Brazil. LIE.
Berry has yet to come clean and explain why he abandoned Albuquerque for 8 days after the Boyd shooting. We need to demand that he explain his whereabouts during the aftermath of the Boyd killing. This all begins and ends with Berry. We need to start demanding he explain where he was for 8 days in March.
And good job APD for the way you handled the rioters. Peaceful protest is needed right now. what happened yesterday was wrong and APD did a great job!
http://onlyinnewmexico.blogspot.com/
Jim Baca blog got it right.
Firing Berry or Eden won't do any good. Rioting against the APD, also won't do any good. When will this city wake up. McCleskey and his band of thugs run this city and state from behind the scenes. Get rid of Eden and he will be replaced with another "McCleskey insider." Here is a thought, maybe that is the real problem. The good ole boy network of McCleskey, Barnett, White, etc.. getting rich, thinking they are above the law, and doing as they please. They all watch each others backs and we pay. Maybe the real solution is for voters to stand together and stop supporting any candidate that uses these guys. Tell the candidates we will no longer stand for this shadow governor and insider tactics! Support our police by giving them a better culture to work in, support our state by getting REAL LEADERSHIP back in office. Stop voting for the shadow governor's people. what do you expect from a candidate hires someone with no ethics or a conscience to run your campaign
10:50,
This response is directed to you, and anyone else who thinks poor poor cops. I AM A POLICE OFFICER. The last thing I want is anyone feeling sorry for me. I have a job to do, and I do it with honor and dignity for myself, and those I serve. I welcome this light being shined. I don't know if you are a cop or not. If you are, go change your damp diaper. You sound like a pussy, and you are a part of an agency that knows no honor, and has co cohesion whatsoever. Everyone should be in it for the right reason and for Justice. This site gives it to EVERYONE. criticism is due everywhere. If you can't take the heat of the pendulum swinging both ways then get the fuck out of the kitchen. Crying about the truth being exposed is plain cowardice, no matter how raw, shocking, or revealing that truth is. When you act like a fraternity for years, fucking each other, wrecking homes, lying, murdering, being lazy, fucking people's lives up over having your feelings hurt, then charging them with contempt of cop to make yourself feel better, and just plain acting like an asshole, it catches up with you. Yea, there are a lot of good officers. Scared shitless to stand up to the corruption, but they go to work and try to do their job. They are outnumbered by spineless cowards and rats within the ranks, and at all levels of high management, who will totally ruin their lives upon discovering any evidence of opposition or dissent. APD is very unique that way. So their mentality is I got my sunglasses on, my nice unit, I'm getting paid and they ain't fucking with me, so fuck it! There is the other half of the problem. Open your fucking eyes for once and wake the fuck up. Half of the drones riding around in cars have no idea how treacherous it is and just what is going on behind your backs by the hands of Berry, Perry, the city attorney and everyone in their pockets. If you think that parade last night was even a blip on the radar screen, you need to get out of your bubble, and see a real city when shit like that goes down. Any real cop out there will reiterate my words.
As far as that Mardi Gras last night, you call that getting violent? Getting violent is officers picking glass shards out of their heads from bottles, looted and burned stores, overturned cars, and hundreds of injuries. None of that happened. The officers did their jobs and just like always there were some people who got out of hand. Don't embarrass officers who have been in the shit by calling that bullshit last night a riot. Maybe for here it is, but relatively speaking in reference to the rest of the world that was a fucking square dance. Spray paint and egg throwing, give me a fucking break!
And please, as one other poster stated here, give us some evidence of needless hateful posts that are not true. There might be some hate, but I don't see truth in question here, not like it is on the 5th and 11th floors.
PEOPLE, LET'S FORGET THIS SIMPLE FACT: IF NOT FOR APD COVERING UP CRIMES AND KILLING CITIZENS, THIS MESS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
AND WHILE SMALLFRUIT BERRY MAYOR SAYS OFFICERS WERE INJURED, WHY IS IT EDEN SAYS TODAY ONLY ONE WAS INJURED TODAY. AND IN THE KNEE.

@3:14
EXACTLY! We need a complete overhaul and put people in there that care about the citizens not their pocketbooks. We are at the bottom in the US but we can become the leaders in this nation by DEMANDING THAT OUR GOVERNMENT LEADERS DO WHAT'S BEST FOR IT'S CITIZENS. That includes the mayor, the city council, the NM legislature and the Governor. I don't care whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent or any other party. Just do what's right for the citizens and stop bullshitting us. We are tired of it! STAND UNITED AND DEMAND JUSTICE, TRUTH AND RESPECT.
3:24, thank you for telling the truth and how the 'REAL' cops feel. It was NOT a riot last night. People are angry. And for 3:14, I agree, but we can't wait for another election. Something needs to change now.
Pride, Integity, and Guts. Thats what taking a job in law enforcement is about. Most of APD has all three. There are a few who have tarnished the badge but most do their jobs. I am proud of the restraint APD, BCSO, and NMSP showed last night on the streets of Central. I for one can't take someone yelling or spitting at me holding a donut in my face with a middle finger.
If you look at the footage 90% of those protesting were jobless lower class stoners. It fits councilar Garduno just right as he marched with them. He is the leach that his district deserves.
Keep your chin up LEOs, you made ABQ proud last night the way you handled the situation. I pray that the those in uniform and undercover stand up for whats right at all times even if that means you stand alone.
3:24,
Thanks for stating it like it is and thank you for your service. It's cops like you that give me hope that good cops do exist. With persistence and support from the community, cops like you will be the norm rather than the exception.
I am not an advocate of violence but believe that when people are fed up because nothing is being done to stop the injustices, it is time to show unity. All groups across this United States have done it and will continue to do it. The demonstration in Albuquerque last night was long over due. All of the dirty laundry that the City of Albuquerque has been hiding will soon be known to all. Shootings that have been labeled as justified and were clearly not. The mistreatment of officers. The total corruption within APD itself which is the root of a lot of the issues at hand along with the union's misuse of funds by its former President. There is so much more Do I need to go on. I have been waiting for a public display for well over a year now. Hopefully, it will draw some attention to the real criminals here. What is stated on this site is well researched and documented but it needs to get out from just this site. Need to have the likes of a 20/20 or Dateline in here. This behavior has been allowed to continue and there needs to be a stop to it and them. Hopefully, the demonstration did more than fill a time slot on the news station's programming schedule.
I wonder how many people in the protest voted for Berry?
A very “enlightened” view from the left:
http://thepipeline.tumblr.com/post/81303923440/if-only-cargo-shorts-held-more-rage-apd-the-modern
Take a moment to read this article. You just might see things a little differently.
3:42 is right! we need something done now. as this is an election year, we can expect our mailboxes to be filled with negative mudslinging BS truth bending and slander. how do we let the "leaders" of NM know that we will not put up with the machiavellian style shadow politics anymore? this only lines the pockets of the few at the expense of the rest of the state. We are a small state in numbers, which should translate out to faster change. anybody have any suggestions?
3:14 is also right:
currently, anybody that works for change but doesn't fit the shadow governor's agenda is removed. where does that leave us? what can we do now? I for one will never vote for a mccleskey candidate, but that is during the election. any suggestions for now?
Do you really advocate shooting cops? Seriously? Look, the light of national attention is being shined on Albuquerque. The people of Albuquerque are expressing themselves and getting noticed. Advocating further shootings is crazy. What do you think that would do to public opinion? These issues will be settled in the court of public opinion.
Yeah, it's ridiculous on both sides. If i was Chief, the entire ERT would be eating twinkies in the basement of the main, only to respond if there was a breach to the facility. Then look at those wannabe radicals pretending that they are in some place with real problems like the Ukraine or Egypt. Worthless followers with hopes of updating their Facebook/Twitter accounts with some shit they hope is important or compelling. Well, it isn't. They should be at home fucking their ugly girlfriends on their yoga mats and counting their lucky stars that they weren't born in Somalia. And the Journal and the news stations just sit back and relish in the "glory" of all they created. People are fucking stupid and so easily manipulated. You Know what happened? A really fucked up and violent mental patient that shouldn't have been on the streets got shot by some cops that shouldn't have been on the force.
End of story.
Stop the draconian police state now!
They're old enuf to vote?
Oh my fucking god. It was bad enough to hear Banks do the "my people are hurting" speech but after today's shitshow by Perry and Eden you'd think all of us at APD are little girls with onion skin. Let's be real, I had a blast last night. And like "Angry cop" said up above it was a Mardi Gras. Geezus H Christ, and now we have gay ass Thank a cop day? Girly ass dept of all time.
What people don’t understand is that times have changed. Newspapers, tv programs like Dateline and local news are becoming a thing of the past. The future is internet and social media. That’s why Pearce hired and then fired that blogger who was 24. He hired her knowing the future is in social media. He had to fire her because she was a hate-mongering, blazing right-wing radical. We all know if you want the real news, you have to go to the bloggers like the EYE and Monahan. Millenials, Gen X and Gen Y’rs figured that out long ago.
If you want CHANGE NOW, start going after Martinez and demand more of the city council and legislature. Martinez is no better than Berry and the truth will come out about her too.
Get involved and organize. It’s very simple to do now. Don’t waste time at the council meetings playing by their rules, giving us a lousy 2 minutes. PLEASE! That route obviously doesn’t work.
One option if you want to have meetings in person to organize and develop a plan of action to target a particular issue, start a meetup group. If not in person, meeting via video works well too.
Another option is to create a blog similar to the EYE where anyone can anonymously post issues, videos, pics, etc. Demand answers. Make these leaders lead with integrity. It in essence is a grass-roots oversight committee. I’m sure there are lots of employees at all levels of government that know what’s going on but feel helpless to do something about it.
Give New Mexicans a voice by using the social media to go after them and ride their ass like the EYE rides ABQ’s ass. We can become a model state and turn this tragic situation into something positive.
Another press conference and another example of softball media. Not one question about where Berry fled to for 8 days after the Boyd Killing and why he ordered his staff to lie to the public and say he was in Brazil.
Any other city the media would be all over Berry on his whereabouts and his lie. Just ask Chris Christie and Mark Sanford. But not good old New Mexico. Nope we get to see Tom Joles on a commercial saying how KOB is such a force for good. BS. Joles should be the one pressing the mayor for his disappearance. Remember he was also the reporter that Schultz told Nature at Play to. Joles did nothing with that either.
The protesters have it all wrong. They should be in from of KRQE, KOB, KOAT and the Journal demanding better, ethical and honest reporting. Let them toss doughnuts at Walz, Fernandez, Knifing and Joles. They are the ones who have really let this city down.
Eden,
It was obvious that asshole Perry was standing there holding your hand and TJ... Really?!?' You fatass. You couldn't 't put the soda and candy bar down for just one minute. Why is it that you are always stuffing your bloated face? You are disgusting. Back to you Eden, you made APD sound like a bunch of sissies playing the victim role. That was pathetic. The protesters sought out the police?!?' The protesters picked on us?!?! And now in hindsight you say you used tear gas because of the guy with a rifle? You better pull the radio tapes. You were using tear gas in a location where that guy wasn't and before that incident. Way to concoct and mitigate. You crying foul was really pathetic. You are an embarrassment to all police chiefs you weak soft little sissy. And where were you? In places like Chicago, LA, Detroit, Miami, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Houston, the chiefs are seen out there with their men, not in the ladies room changing their panties. You weak tit.
From the TV footage of the protesters and those interviewed, doubt any one of them voted. No old white guys (Berry's people) but a lot of loud mouth radical young people and one absolute idiot with a loaded AK 47. Where were these fools during the election?
TELL ME IT ISN'T TRUE THAT BERRY WAS ALL OVER EDEN BECAUSE HIS OFFICERS USED GAS ON THOSE SET ON ANARCHY. IF ONLY THE CITIZENS HAD OF KNOWN WHAT WAS COMING AT ELECTION TIME BERRY WOULD NEVER HAD BEEN ELECTED.
MIGHT AS WELL LET THE COPS PROGRAM FILM US NOW WHAT CAN IT HURT?
Reorganize APD, take all those detectives and put them on the street, zero tolerance on everything for about two years and this BS with the public will stop. Make Sgt's supervisor and go back to the way it was. Why do we always re=invent the wheel.
The protest was peaceful until the cops showed up in their Rambo gear. This type "us against them" war mentality sets a bad precedence. They also tried to convince the protesters that peaceable assembly is illegal.
The prior Sunday the protest with a thousand people went very peaceful, the cops kept their distance, no one got hurt, got gassed or went to jail. Hopefully, the politicians have learned something from these two incidences. You cannot turn a peaceful protest into a war zone and expect a good outcome.
Yes 7:38 ! Local media have ignored and downplayed corruption for years and are complicit/coconspirators;shameful.
VIVA LE EYE !!!!
LOL!
"Somebody should do something "!!!
They were gaming or smoking stink weed in their parent's basement or garage yapping about Star Trek scenarios. Think: Badger & Skinny Pete Season 6 Breaking Bad.
They did put one of those Detectives on the street. Keith Sandy. How's that working for ya ?
The statements of Mr. Ellis and Mr. Gomez showed more class than the entire bunch of coward thugs running this failing city. These two men had family members murdered and called out the protesters who stepped over the line Sunday night. If only the cowards like Schultz, the Mayor, Perry, and the city attorney's office were a fraction of a man these two gentlemen are this crap would not be going on in this city. No, they know wrong was done, and they lie, cover up, and dishonorably insult and attack these families. There is the difference. The honorable admit wrong and work to correct it. The greedy chicken shit slime cowards lie, cheat, and covers up. I don't know how the filthy ones look themselves in the mirror.
Anonymous demands:
12) We call upon those police officers who recognize the problem of the police violence to publicly support these demands. In spite of the many problem officers within APD, we acknowledge those officers who are just as disgusted as we are with the outrage which have occurred. We call upon these officers to stand up and be counted in taking a stand for sound and rational police practices designed to serve and protect the citizens.
Sandy, Lampris Tremba and Montgomery all you liars become secretaries with guns. Everyone knows there is always a phone to answer. No 25 with public. That includes any other Officer who has been caught lieing on the stand.
The Mayor is asking for an increased budget. The APD seems to have extensive investment in new militarized gear and equipment, as evidenced in Sunday's protest. I can't help but wonder why so much of the city's money was invested in the equipment of this magnitude, when ALB doesn't seem to need it. Portrays a police state. Shouldn't city funds be invested in training, new officers, etc? Several have tried to have this question answered through other media outlets, but comments moderated and not published.

Nice! Way to man up
Every person has a voice, even those in APD. Go beyond our borders to make our concerns known:
Start contacting the elected officials: letters, emails, phone calls. Call anonymously. The Albuquerque city management can not track citizens complaints outside of NM. Each piece of correspondance to US House and Senate members are read and controlled. Make your voices heard, if not in ALB, with other elected officials sworn to protect the citizens of NM.

Sample letter, that can be revised based:
"To Whom It May Concern: (Senator or HR)
I am writing to you regarding the civil rights violations and abuse of power by the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque City government. The Mayor, city government and APD have come under national attention due to the release of the video of James Boyd’s killing by APD police. This is only a sample of the many abuses occurring within the city. The citizens of Albuquerque are requesting your assistance into a full and fast resolution.
The APD has become known for its’ police brutality. The City government and DA’s office have failed to take appropriate action, as evidenced by their refusal to remove the rogue police officers, who are not reprimanded or fired for their abuses. This is perpetuated by the District Attorney’s office, the mayor and the local media. There seems to be a sentiment that if the person has a previous arrest, they are disposable, forgetting the constitutional right that a person is innocent until proven guilty. This was stated by a local APD officer, who made national news, for his comments that he is a human waste disposer. This officer, I might add, has been involved in police killings. This mentality seems to permeate with other officers and the mayor.
I urge you to view the video of James Boyd’s killing. Each person has civil rights and the right to live, not to be in fear of our police officers who are there to carry out the law and protect all citizens. There are honorable police officers who are equally outraged. I am pleading that, as a Congressional representative of the US citizens, you will take the lead in an inquiry as to the current status of the DOJ investigation and prevent further police brutality and killings in Albuquerque, New Mexico."
Are we better off today than we were before his reelection?
For a walk down memory lane, this link predicted the future and where things were at in August.

It’s amazing how much his lack of leadership has destroyed in 6 months, not just the community cohesiveness but the economy. The reason why Tesla hasn’t contacted you, Berry, is because you’re not a leader. You can bet they are on the phone regularly with the ones that matter.
We used to be proud that we were such a diverse community and that we all respected each other and got along. Now we are in the infancy of a divisive state. If he doesn’t start leading, we are going to have a disaster with the anarchists attacking the blind people who support the cop killers. Way to go, Berry! You are really fucking up this place royal. Your plan didn’t work and it is costing all of us big time.
Recall of Berry is the only answer. If Berry is recalled the whole administration including the Police Chief is gone. I have started the process. I needed five signatures of city voters to start the process. I got twenty in less than fifteen minutes. I am ready to turn them in to The City Clerk. We need 11,203 signatures of city voters to force a recall vote. The only question is what are you prepared to do ? On a side note I never answer anonymous postings.
Keith Sandy was not a detective on the street. He was on the street then went to vice to be a detective. How's that working for YOU. Ass wipe.
The letter above needs to be addressed to Jay........sad...
Realizing that this city is on the verge of a major disaster, I thought it time to analyze what makes a good leader. You can use this information to determine for yourself if the shoe fits for either Berry or Martinez.
A small handful of must-have qualities always rise to the surface: empathy, judgment, self-awareness, adaptability, integrity, passion, courage and resilience. Leaders that possess these core attributes -- or underlying drivers of success -- have a remarkably higher probability of performing well, regardless of what context they are thrown into. Interestingly these same qualities matter outside of the corner office -- in politics, sports, entertainment and the military.
Leadership Judgment: The ability to quickly and efficiently cut through this clutter, separate the wheat from the chaff and zero in on what's most important is at the heart of possessing business judgment. That means not to wait for the DOJ to tell you what to do. You both act like you are the child and they are your parents by your ridiculous responses.
Empathy: Connecting with a multitude of diverse, demanding, and sometimes unpredictable constituencies is an inescapable reality of today's world. And you’d better be prepared because the extreme right and left are getting riled up, not to mention those of us in the middle.
Self-awareness: the ability to really understand and get in touch with how you think and feel. If you aren’t aware that you are completely naked and we see who you are and what you are doing, you have a lot of work to do in this department. It’s obvious you aren’t truthful with the citizens, but you need to ask yourself if you even know what truth is. You have to be truthful with yourself before you can be truthful with others.
Adaptability: One of the common most derailers of otherwise talented and successful executives is the fact that they've become set in their ways; they think they know everything and they've seen it all before. Essentially, this boils down to a lack of self-awareness, myopia and perhaps even delusion about one's own value to the organization. Organizations - and leaders - must be able and willing to change direction if and when required. Leadership, at best, is forward looking but fully aware of the lessons of past performance. One should appreciate history, but not be shackled by it. A good leader knows there are situations, particularly when the external context has significantly changed, when it is necessary to adapt. Digging in ones heels and "standing the ground" is a dangerous, often fatal flaw in these situations. MARTINEZ AND BERRY, TAKE HEED TO THE LAST SENTENCE!
Integrity: Will the leader choose the right path when temptation beckons? To gauge new leaders ask: Can they understand how their actions and what they say (or even imply) could potentially impact others inside and outside the organization? A CEO's, Mayor or police chief's actions have a massive trickle-down effect on the entire culture of the organization. Acting appropriately sets the ground rules and accepted norms and behaviors. Remove integrity and the whole house of cards will eventually come tumbling down no matter how smart, empathetic and emotionally aware a leader may be. In that sense, integrity is the single most important leadership quality. MARTINEZ AND BERRY and Eden, TAKE HEED TO THE LAST TWO SENTENCES!
Passion, courage and resilience: Leadership is not for the faint of heart. The best leaders surround themselves with senior executives willing to take a contrarian view, supported by compelling evidence, AND LISTEN TO THOSE WHO DISAGREE WITH YOU. Leaders have to make tough choices (judgment).
SO WHEN ARE WE GOING TO START SEEING SOME LEADERSHIP?

It shouldn't be too hard to get those signatures for recall. What is the plan once he is out? We need someone to actually LEAD and who is willing to crisis manage. It will take a lot to make it work and it must be someone who can UNITE the people as we are on the verge of major division in the community. I hope things don't get out of control at the rally Saturday.

"Are we better off today than we were before his reelection? ....
It’s amazing how much his (Berry's) lack of leadership has destroyed in 6 months, not just the community cohesiveness but the economy."
ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Where were you for the last four years???? Where were you for the 10 months during the election???? For four full years, Berry destroyed this city, APD and did nothing to help our economy nor create jobs. Berry appointed Darren White, Rob Perry, kept Ray Schultz, and all the shootings began and Berry did nothing about holding management accountable or fixing APD. For four years, our entire economy went to hell in a hand basket and Berry did nothing. Thousands of jobs lost, thousands have left, and Berry said everything was just fine, and the voting public believed his lies.
For 10 full months during the election, Heh and Dinelli asked that very question are we better off? The public did NOT care. Heh and Dinelli both said APD was in a melt down, and no body believed it. Berry raised closed to $1 million in 4 months and won with 68% of the vote with only 19% of eligible voters voting.
Go ahead, knock yourselves out with a recall, but you may regret the result you get. The public made a mistake twice electing this clown. If you going to shoot, make sure you can hit the target. Otherwise, Berry's hand is strengthen for higher office with a failed recall.
Just watched the latest Anonymous video. One of the comments talked about APD officers beating a man in an empty parking garage, a video that went viral. Goes to show just how some people let shit run out of their mouths without knowing the whole story. I knew those officers, that dude was a bad guy named Blume. Having just physically assaulted a woman earlier in the night, after having stolen a pickup and crashing it. Officers chased him into that garage and tried to subdue him. Knives were found on him, he was wanted on several felony warrants, which Schultz later had dropped, oh and Blume was one of New Mexico's most wanted and was known to carry weapons (a loaded gun was found outside the pickup driver's door that he crashed, it fell out of his pants). Also, Blume had said he would kill the next cop that tried to take him him. SWAT was afraid of him! Now some dumbass, replying to Anonymous gets the brown squirts of the mouth, and lips off about shit they don't know anything about! These cops were screwed out of their jobs and careers, were made sacrifices by Schultz to the DOJ and fired! None of the cops in the deadly shootings over the past 3 years have been fired. Blume lived! If that is the type of person that follows Anonymous, maybe Albuquerque doesn't need their help! Keep your goofy, British asses on your side of the Atlantic. Albuquerque will take care of our problems, I am sure of it!

This is exactly what happens when you have a weak leader, a strong and organized (and thankfully ethical) leader takes over. Berry, now you see what you should have done a long time ago if you had any integrity.
I can finally sleep better knowing that something is going to be done.
Martinez has been getting away with way too much for far too long. She should take heed and change her ways. Truth and the citizens of NM matter!
Apd loves to rehire problem children-Yvonne Martinez -I have a question why would APD rehire an officer who had sued the department for discrimination, multiple IA complaints, doesn't get along with fellow 34's, gets kicked off the TO program. gets kicked off party patrol. Here is an excerpt -"Katie Smith, who asked that her real name be withheld, began the September evening in a summer dress and sandals, and didn't expect to end it in handcuffs. She was throwing a 30th birthday party for one of her friends and had invited a few bands to play at her house, who were tucked away in the basement. She was enjoying the music along with about 50 or so of her over-21 cohorts when around midnight a few unexpected guests arrived.
The Party Patrol had received a call from a neighbor, who complained about the noise, and came to check it out. But when they reached the front door and asked to enter, Smith said they couldn't and that she'd turn down the music. According to Smith, a couple members of the Party Patrol team, which was formed by five or six officers, entered anyway. Smith says that Officer Yvonne Martinez was particularly aggressive and ordered everyone to leave. When Smith said that she wanted to make sure everyone could drive, Martinez said that the officers would do it. Yet, from what Smith saw, the officers never did check to see if guests were sober enough to drive, and instead just sent them on their way.
The situation escalated, and Smith, along with several other people at the party, asked the officers for their names and badge numbers, but was repeatedly refused. They also asked about the complaint and the reason why the officers had entered the house, but were ignored. At this point, Martinez arrested Smith, claiming that she was enticing a riot, and put the 100-pound female in handcuffs. Smith's sister, similarly sized, was also threatened when she asked Martinez why Smith had been arrested, at which point she was answered with a burning can of mace. Smith's boyfriend was also put into handcuffs when he asked what was going on, the reason being cited as "impeding an investigation"—a charge that was later discovered to be "bogus," according to Smith, who is a plaintiff in Knoblauch's case."
Nice to know she is such an outstanding 34 with great traits of violating the 4th amendment! Well At least she hasn't shot anyone..... yet....
Any time you have leaders instead of "representatives" of the people you are screwed.
We have had leaders for a long time and how is that working out?
There you go again, bashing women. Some of you hate all women, I am sure your mother would be proud of your inferiority complex. You need to forgive and show love.
I don't think they hate all women. I think they just hate the ones whom gave birth to the mutants and birth defects who are ruining this city. They are probably pissed at them for not choosing abortion. Some of these folks should have been prevented with condoms, birth control pills, and the old fashioned panic pull out. I will bet if their parents only knew they would turn out like this, they would have sought out other options.
Not a hatred of women. There are some outstanding female 34's. I really don't understand why re-hire a risk? Proven record of IA complaints, removed from TO program and party patrol.convicted 4th amendment violator. What makes her a great candidate to comeback? To go and be a bully?
Facts are that APD has received a scathing report from DOJ that was based on a very thorough investigation. DOJ pretty much confirmed what the citizens in ABQ have already known and been complaining about.
I don't expect much to change despite these findings. The reality is that unless APD and the upper echelon are charged with crimes
against the citizens of Abq for KNOWINGLY allowing their officers to use excessive force with impunity nothing will change. These men are no different then the criminals they arrest and or kill.
