The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Recall - Not Just for Councilors Anymore?

We got an email yesterday from a reader who has gotten so mad at Mayor Marty over his smoking ban that they have decided to start their own recall effort, targeting the mayor himself. According to the emailer known only to us as S. Pyke (recallmarty@gmail.com), they've filed the appropriate letter of intent with the City Clerk and received their official petitions to begin the recall.

The emailer claims that their crusade is not just about smoking, but that it Marty's executive order was the last straw. Last night Mr. Pyke spent the evening downtown gathering signatures for his recall effort. He claims that he was well received and that people were "lining up" to sign the petitions.

We don't know whether this email if for real or not. It could very well be a hoax and we'll be using our Eyes to try and verify this story. If it is for real Mr. Pyke's effort would require the signatures of "more than 25% of the total number of votes cast at the election of the officer whose recall is proposed." Mr. Pyke claims that number to be officially 21,823 valid signatures of registered city voters. That's a tall order.

I don't even smoke and I wanna sign that petition!!! I hope it's not a hoax. But the real question is....are there 21,823 valid voters out there???

I don't even smoke either and I wanna sign that petition too. I am a valid voter so that makes 21,821 more to go! I'll be watching for the petition.

LET'S ROLL !!!!!!!

Ah... I see where Marty is behind on the poll today 50% disapprove and 47% approve. City employees must have cut out early today instead of casting their approval vote again, on the free bus ride home.

Who will; save me from those who would save me.
Marty should stay up on the roof of city hall smoking his cigars and not play dictator!
Recall now!!!!

I think I can get around 400 qualified signitures to help him out. Hope it is for real. We need to all go out and get it done if it is.

It is not a hoax. The trib is doing a story tomorrow I believe and they have the proof from the city. Look forward to all the help I can get. Thanks S Pyke

ok - give us another post that every blogger can link to, that speaks directly to the issue.

Lay out the whole thing - clean, no name calling, up front, no bull shit, straight to the point; professional.

A post that every blog can link to whether they agree or not; because it is nothing but the truth.

Let's see if the blogosphere can pull one off.

It doesn't matter if the recall goes as planned or not it's very important that it is a thought of some out there and it almost certainly will not help Mr. Chavez in the future as long as who ever runs against him doesn't let the voters forget!

King Marty probably already has his fleet of lawyers at work to create a law prohibiting his recall, just like the city councilors did a couple weeks ago....talk about "job Security"!!!

"Marty should stay up on the roof of city hall smoking his cigars" - Oh he's up there alright, but it ain't Cigars he's smok'in...

It's about time...where the hell do I sign? I seriously doubt it will be that difficult to get the required number of signatures to recall King Marty. If we ALL work together and get out there, it's an easy accomplishment. I think we should start getting signatures at places like...I don't know...city golf courses, smoking patios at bars, cigar shops, smoke shops, STOP fine hearings, police union meetings, fire deartment union meetings, entrances and exits to all city buildings, etc. Oh yeah, I'm sure we'll have those signatures in NO TIME!

I don't have anything against smokers, but as a sister to a victim that died of lung cancer, and my siter who never smoked I feel it's a good thing and until you see a human life suffer and dying of lung cancer its hard to understand. So my hats off to Mayor Chavez. and why do we need to have smoking in our faces anyway. Its not fair to us just like it wasn't fair to my sister who died last year.

It's not just about the smoking ban. It's about alienating the rights of tax paying citizens. It's about staking a claim of control in order to diminish the resolve of the peasants. Passing laws on the premise of public welfare and safety when it is abundantly clear the motive is money and nothing more is not just wrong, it's almost criminal. Elected officials need to get the message that we, the voters, ARE NOT STUPID. The red light cameras are a scam. Nothing more. It has been proven that they reduced yellow light timing to increase the number of tickets and revenue generated by the system. That's criminal, plain and simple. Then they have the audacity to lie and say it never happened, meanwhile traffic engineers were out reseting the timing. While King Marty may have YOU fooled, he certainly hasn't fooled many others. Jim Villanucci's show yesterday proves that. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE FRAUD!

No smoking outdoors(no fines yet)
Speed van scams $$
Red light scameras $$
Chip your pets $$
Alarm Ordinance fees $$
Seat belt fines $$
Cell phone ban $$
Licsence plate cover ban $$$
Etc, etc, etc.
Nice little 'Cottage' business our politicians have going for themselves.
While the city is over run with theives & pilagers we are focusing our crime fighting efforts with limited manpower levels, to protect their little private enterprises.
After all, since City Council doesn't make enough money to live on, this continues to be permissable, and how dare anyone question why the suppliers of these little ventures give generously to their constant campaigning.
Yes, wake up indead Albuquerque.
