The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. New Counsel

The race for the city attorney slot appears to be down to two - Democrat Randy Autio and Republican Rob Perry. Autio is currently serving as interim city clerk but has also served as an assistant city attorney. Perry is in private practice and has previously run for the state AG's post.

There's very little question that current City Attorney Bob White needs to be shown the door. His legal analysis of the Ed Adams "contract" was questionable at best and his most recent appearance in Scam-era Scare Wars on KOAT last Sunday night left one more than questioning his legal acumen. In fact, in legal circles the city's performance in court is often the punch line for a joke where taxpayers are left footing the bill.

Understand that the city is sued on a regular basis by unions, by companies, by developers, by citizens, by cops, and by crooks. Sometimes the lawsuits have merit, others not so much.

So you see... A mayor must have a talented city attorney - one who can be trusted and who shares his core philosophy of government. This appointment - more than just about any other - will be one where Mayor Berry and his appointment must be on the same page.

Will the next city attorney share Berry's Republican beliefs or will the mayor be getting his legal advice from someone who doesn't share them? Either way, Mayor Berry will be getting new legal counsel and our Eyes tell us we'll find out what kind of advice he will be getting by Friday.

You can argue he needs to go, but his assessment of Ed Adams' case is right on. I can't stand Adams, and am pissed he's "stealing" taxpayer money. However, the city ALWAYS screws up by allowing people to do what they want, therefore setting precedence. He claims he's being unfairly targeted and wins. That is why cops who deserve their firings get rehired; because the application of the rules are inconsistent at best. Blame Marty and Perlman for this screw up that will cost us anyway we deal with it.

Lawrence Torres and Ed Adams should be indicted for what they have done. They were both in positions where they knew it was illegal, but they figured they could get away with it, because they were the ones signing it.

Doesn't anyone else see this? This is a perfect case for the FEDS to step in and slam these guys.

And one other thing, the slow end of double dipping is finally starting. Now all we have to do is sunset the current double dippers in 2011 and free up these jobs.

Kathy Levy needs to go too. Worthless, unless your her loverboy named is Ray.

Doesn't matter by whom Berry receives his legal advise. Wouldn't understand it anyway.
He'll have to rely on pencil face for now.

Legal advice,City matters. You take care of the city stuff & make decisions David, I've got other things to do.

I wish Ed Adams would take the lower salary. I don't know why he thinks he can't get by on ONLY $10K a month if he did! How does he sleep nights.

ED! Do the right thing for the taxpayers.

The new counsel is really such a important counsel.

Anonymous said...

Rumors are spreading about "I'm a girl watcher"? Not good.

Explain the Kathy Levy and Ray comment. I am lost.

Anonymous said...

Kathy Levy is totally worthless at what she does. I really hope the sex is good Ray, because shes really stupid and is costing the city millions!

Ed Adams is supposed to be a smart guy.
So why doesn't a smart guy play smart?
Greed and arrogance will get him nowhere.

Just like a vote of 'no-confidence' from the state police, Dareen now faces a vote of 'no-competence' from acting Mayor Campbell.

Shhhhh.... don't tell Berry, he'll never know.
( talk about asleep at the switch)

Anonymous said...

With a $50M deficit, Campbell is not setting a very good example either, taking a $14,000 increase over his predecessor as CAO. Oh gee that was Ed Adams.
At $159,000 + car+ gas+insurance your compensation is about $172,000.
Are you really worth that? To help the city should YOU also do what's right and take a voluntary pay cut as well?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter who the City Attorney is. As long as Campbell is CAO we're screwed. RJ, you're a one-term moron!!

PLEASE MAYOR lets not have a repeat of the Darren and Rob show that we were forced to watch during the Johnson administration!!! Both these camera hounds have WAY too much misplaced confidence in their own abilities. Our city would be better served without this team.

Anonymous said...

Got to give the nod to Rob Perry.

To the new legal counsel: why does Berry hate the unions so much and why is he planning to get rid of them? Police & blue collar are safe due to their large numbers, but the other series are vulnerable. We won't be able to fight back against department administrators who are just waiting to pounce on those of us who don't kiss their ass. It's all politics even on the lower levels at COA & we need the union's protection.

Everyone, everywhere you go,in every corner of the city have come to the conclusion that R J Berry and his accomplices are overpaid, incompetent fools.
This whole thing is a mistake, and a train wreck that hasn't even happened yet. Campbell's driving a run-away train blindfolded buy stupidity, Berry's playing with a toy model locomotive in the coal car and Ray & Darren are scheming in the caboose to see who will pay them the most for the next Chief's job. Talk about asleep at the switch. What a way to run a rail road.

What there's a new city attorney and no new city police cadets. That's not fair. they say they have more than 1100 on the force. did we ever see a complete list of all 1100. i didn't.

oh, and then there's that upcoming police academy scandal. can't wait for that one.

Anonymous said...

Hey now. Don't count out Lisa Torraco! Intelligent. Savvy. Down to earth.

Anonymous said...

There's 1100 officers out there? I can't tell. Must all be in Willow Wood harassing Mr. Cop Hater.

Anonymous said...

What Academy scandal?

Darren playing the field over there too.
What, not enough action at the meat markets on central?

Saturday night. "Big man on campus" will be out on the prowl. He's so not all that and a bag of chips.

There is no doubt in my mind that it will be Rob Perry. Darren and he are thick as thieves. How much do you want to bet it will be Rob Perry?

Is the Eye closed on this one or is it merely clouded by intense partisanship? One wonders.

As to the choice, Autio is experience, Perry is politics. Simple. But is the Eye, who claims to be all-seeing, blind to the common practice whereby the politicians get to blame the Legal Department for decisions they “had” to make, but didn’t want to? It’s easy to see why David Campbell wouldn’t want to mire the Berry Administration in years of litigation over something the Chavez gang did, no matter how good or popular it might feel initially. Answer? Blame it on Legal. “Well, you know, we’d like to do that, but Legal advises against it...” This happens in Government and the private sector all the time.

Now, if Bob White were so terrible, why wasn’t he “shown the door” back on December 1st? Why has he been City Attorney for 16 years through four terms of two different mayors? Why has he been asked to stay on at least through July to help his replacement get oriented?

Finally, you are guilty of gross negligence in allowing character assassination and innuendo about the lives of married people to appear unchallenged in the comments section of this blog. Given the McCarthyite proclivities of the right wing these days (Liz Cheney) it is, sadly, hardly surprising.

Methinks the Eye rests at the end of of a skin tube, with the other end populated by a pair of tea bags.

Torraco is all of those. AND, completely unqualified.

New info coming in on the Vegas 'Tune up' incident.
Can anyone say cell phone video?

..... They all work after 9:00 PM on DWI patrol .... got to keep those empty streets safe!

Why does the Mayor higher people who love the camera more then they love him? White and Perry love the camera, and they are both in it for themselves. I think the Mayor wants what is best for the City.... but why does he gravitate towards men who are self-serving?

Anonymous said...

The Albuquerque journal stated that on one case the City paid out over 1 million in outside counsel attorney's fees. That was Bob White and Mayor Marty's bad decision that will now cost us all. We need someone in the City Attorney's office that can do cases and not that will pay others excessive fees to litigate losing cases. I don't know who that should be, but what happened under Marty is a tragedy for the tax payers.

Anonymous said...

Do you know the difference between higher and hire. It is pretty obvious that you do not!!!!

Anonymous said...

The Eye has been compromised because Darren and TJ know who he is (yes, it's a "he") and they're going after him. That's why you'll only see the dirt on White and Schultz in the comments section of the blog and no posts from The Eye about Vegas, the Academy or whether there's 1,100 officers on the force.

Time for someone else who hasn't been cornered and can tell the whole truth about what's going on to start a new blog.

Anonymous said...

Autio and Perry.
Niether one. There that's settled. Now start over. Who else?

Anonymous said...

Autio; political numb skull hack.
NO !!!!

Perry; If he knows Darren or is his buddy, then, not NO, but HELL NO !!!

Find someone else who is not associated with scum.
Is that possible in this City.

What about Hess Yntema?

He was nobody's bitch.

Anonymous said...

Comment above; "Perry & Darren as thick as thieves"
No one should be part of that.

If your with or befriend Darren, you're just like him.
Untrustworthy liar.

None of the 1100 is in Willow Wood. It's a rare event to see APD in my neighborhood with the exception of the few who live here.

I note some derogatory comments about the EYE. Hey, at least its another forum for getting scams, scandals and other "irregularites" in the open. Thanks, EYE.

Right on the money! Dont forget Brad Winter..the joker..is directly connected to this blog..you havent heard one peep on here about how he is going after the take home cars for no reason other than political payback..have some balls councilor..take the units now! dont wait..we can park them at civic plaza right now...quit posturing..and why not expose this eye? because you cant...anyone but berry 2013!

Anonymous said...

ABB 2013!!

Anonymous said...

I suggest they hire attorney Tom Clear. I hear he has done "wonders" working with the APD DWI force despite being opposing counsel. Even involves "performance bonuses" for APD officers. APD would love him and so would their union. Larry Barker, where are you?

Three months into this and every business man & women see this guy for what he is. A PHONY !!!!!!!!

This election was a huge joke.
