The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Liberty Lost

Albuquerque Citizens have lost another liberty as the city succumbs to crime and criminals who perpetrate against the public.  Recently the local Wal-Mart stores have elected to change their hours of operation from 24-hours a day to 6 A.M. to midnight. The burning question is, why has crime gotten out of control in the Metro area and how do we regain control of our community?

We see the headlines daily across the country, “Suspect is accused of cutting 7-month-old fetus from her victim”, “Chief: New Orleans airport attacker had machete, Molotov cocktails”, “One dead and five injured after spree”, “Remains found in wood stove in cooking show finalist's death”, etc…  Has it really gotten worse or is the media driving certain issues with more vigor than others?

A statistic that has been used for several decades is ninety percent of crime is committed by ten percent of the population.  If this is true why does ninety percent of the population allow the ten percent to victimize all?  Is it because that ten percent is a relative, friend or family member? Perhaps they know a person or their family and feel bad for them?  Whatever the reason; we are all responsible for what is happening in our community.  Our silence allows the criminals in general to continue and to prosper from crime. The community itself encourages the crime by not standing up to the criminals (including the mentally ill) and by not fully supporting law enforcement in discharge of their duties.

When we look back at many of the police involved shootings, the vast majority involved people who were involved in a criminal act (that is why the police were involved) and many of them involved people who were also mentally ill.  The families and friends of these people knew the family member or friend was a criminal and/or was mentally ill but keep silent with the mentality “as long as I don't have to deal with him or her; I am good with that.” Which translates to; law enforcement will ultimately be called and force to deal with that person.

Mr. Boyd’s situation is a prime example of everything that can go wrong.  When we say everything we mean everything from a neglected mentally ill person in commission of a crime to police misconduct.  Mr. Boyd’s family knew he was mentally ill and kept their distance because they knew of his illness.  And yes, now the uncaring family is here in the metro looking to stuff their greedy pockets with cash because now Mr. Boyd has worth to them. We are sure there were many ambulance chasers who sought out the family members in hopes of pocketing cash themselves.  The family never intervened to ensure Mr. Boyd received the services he desperately needed nor did they care or give a damn until Mr. Boyd’s demise.

When family and/or friends fail to do their part and leave it up to the police to handle a criminal or a mentally ill person; this is an invitation for disaster which we have seen repetitively here in Albuquerque.  When family or friends fail to do their part and then become angered and blame the police are clearly hypocrites and are guilty of infractions themselves against humanity. Everyone must do their part; take responsibility for what they are accountable for. Certain people need to stop blaming the police when the problem lies primarily with them directly.  And we have heard it to; “I can’t deal with him.” Well, what makes you think it is going to be any easier for the police to babysit or handle the same person.  That person left unchecked is now uncontrollable and now the police are forced to deal with them.  Be responsible and do your part.

We as a community continue to suffer from enabling friends or family members who are involved in crime (and/or are mentally ill) we will continue to lose certain liberties. We are all paying the price for the ten percent who commit criminal activities:  losing access to our local store and paying higher prices to compensate for loss of businesses.

The cure, well, the blame for these issues must be shared equally by the public and the police. The community needs to support the police who are entrusted with public safety and the community needs to step up and do their part when they know a friend or family member is involved in crime or if they have a friend or family member who they know are mentally ill and are in need of services. Simply stated, “An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.”  As a community we all need to do our part and stop loved ones before they are out of control and eventually become involved in a deadly encounter with law enforcement.  And if they can’t handle their loved ones and it results in a deadly encounter, stop blaming the police and place blame where it lies; in the one who committed the crime(s) themselves.

Give me a fucken break! Now holier than thou The Eye is calling out family members of criminals to clean up their own? ROFLMAO!

Something comes to mind when Cop Apologists, such as The Eye, write about this topic:

"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

Fuck you The Eye aka APD "proverbial" cock suckers!

The whole mental health system has to be looked at and changed. After working in Special Ed for 20+ years, parents of children who suffer from mental illness have their hands tied - Once they are a certain age the kids can opt to not receive inpatient care. I think it sets a precedent. Even when a school will get the parents to take a out of control child in to be evaluated - you'd be amazed at how many are sent home that day without any intervention. In a worse case scenario they may be held for 3 days. What does that actually do for someone? Mental illness in a lot of these cases you were talking about didn't just happen - it's been going on for years. Until, we as a community start addressing that fact, unfortunately, I don't see much chance for change.

Just fininshed reading the long ago published article by the New Yorker magazine. Found questionable comments by past APD personell. Did agree with the articles comments that promotions were based on things other than merit like sex and who kisses whos ass gthe best. This allowed for poor supervision and discipline and Boyd.

'Us against the world' philosophy is what got rank & file in the mess they are in in the first place. Blaming everyone but yourselves is shallow and serves no purpose. System is set up so one entity is not judge, jury and executioner. When one tries to do the other entities job is when the trouble starts. Agree that it's not an easy job by no means but you should have known that from the start. Ever heard "shit or get off the pot"? That holds true here.

This post is absolutely pathetic. I must have been confused, as I thought police officers were supposed have at least general understanding of the laws they are tasked with enforcing.

Unfortunately, the friends and family that you are blaming have no legal means of forcing their loved ones to get treatment. 5150 holds usually aren't long enough to treat a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia. You obviously must not have dealt with someone who has willing shunned their friends and family members, choosing homelessness over any help that their loved ones have relentlessly offered.

Many of the individuals shot by APD were shot while trying to run away from officers. You all have benefited from some more-than-generous wound-tract descriptions that misconstrued findings in death investigations. Even if some (and only some) were committing crimes prior to being gunned down by officers, they have a constitutional right to due process. These individuals had a right to face their charges in front of a jury of their peers, rather than being gunned down at the hands of some overzealous officer who walks around, thinking he's the shit with a punisher sticker on his gun.

No, friends and family members failing to magically contain their mentally ill loved ones is NOT what is responsible for their deaths. The collective incompetence amongst a group of APD officers is what led to these individuals' deaths. I'm embarrassed for the officers who aren't so scummy and have to support their delusional peers (much like you).

GET OFF YOUR SOAPBOX AND LEARN HOW TO POLICE OUR CITY PROFESSIONALLY. You are paid with our tax dollars and you all took an oath to protect our city as peace officers when you chose to pursue this career. I understand that you sometimes face risks, but you willing chose a career that could risk your lives. I appreciate the rare instances when you guys do risk your lives, but you guys weren't in more than half of the officer-involved shootings. Why not try to have a better relationship with the citizens that are paying your paychecks? I know you'll face hostility at first, but why not try and change our minds, rather than spewing the same bullshit like you've spoken above.

I agree with the eye on this one. We see it all the time at APS. Parents expect everyone to babysit their mentally ill kids and constantly complain when it's not done to their "standards". The Boyd case is the perfect example. Not only did they give up on getting him care but they packed up and moved to get away from him. Meanwhile he roams the streets attacking innocent people on a regular basis. Now that millions are in play, they come back playing the role of a loving family. I still think the shooting was bad, but give me a break. All of Boyds victims should now sue the family for abandoning him on the streets and allowing him to hurt people.

KARMA IS A BITCH. It is nice to see how in this town Karma has a way of catching up to those who do bad to others.

Oh my! The Eye is blaming the family for abandoning Mr. Boyd. The Eye is now attacking the greedy ambulance chasers seeking money for the negligent Boyd family! What has happened to the Eye? The man was mentally ill, yes. The state of New Mexico falls at the bottom of the 50 states in their care for the mentally ill. Blame the family and the STATE! APD representatives pulled the triggers and now the city of Albuquerque must pay the price for poor police work. It isn't greed on the part of the Boyd family or attorneys, but rather retribution! Two cops murdered a man, it was caught on video, and I never thought I would read the Eye making apologies! What has happened to you folks? It appears you have succumbed to the corruption that you reportedly are fighting against!

How come this pro cop site never offers up hard hitting exposes of the criminal cops at APD? Truth is not what you are trying to spread is it? Propaganda is what this rag is.

Please relocate to Ferguson MO or Charleston SC. One other thing, in a few years, you and your white cohorts will be mowing my lawn. Not a matter of if, but a matter of when!

This article is akin to blaming too many customers for a bad restaurant. What a joke.

Eye you have lost any credibility that you had left with this post. Us vs them will only attract the kind of people the eye initially tried to weed out. You reap what you sow

You can thank the administration for this:

http://m.koat.com/news/officials-dangerous-violent-gangs-flocking-to-new-mexico/32269332

They have destroyed the police department to the point that the place will soon be overrun. The officers are terrified to do their jobs out of fear of being scape goated to take the blame off of corrupt criminal and poor leadership. New Mexico is doomed because of a few bad apples. Perry, Berry, Schultz, and the rest of the scum bags who preemptively retaliate against a DA who would hold them accountable. Let's see what type of blackmail they dredge up on the next prosecuter that they find out might take the Boyd case.

so Martinez is the new national civil rights hero because she signed an anti-forfeiture bill?

What the journal doesn't write and what the idiot kids on the local TV don't know is that the national republican party backed that bill and there is a nationwide effort to rein in those forfeiture bills. Does it matter? Yes, because it proves that Martinez is about currying favor with the national Republican party for her own personal gain and not the state.

For example, Sen. Rand Paul yesterday introduced S. 2644, the FAIR (Fifth Amendment Integrity Restoration) Act, which would protect the rights of citizens and restore the Fifth Amendment’s role in seizing property without due process of law. Under current law, law enforcement agencies may take property suspected of involvement in crime without ever charging, let alone convicting, the property owner. In addition, state agencies routinely use federal asset forfeiture laws; ignoring state regulations to confiscate and receive financial proceeds from forfeited property.

The FAIR Act would change federal law and protect the rights of property owners by requiring that the government prove its case with clear and convincing evidence before forfeiting seized property.

Don't be sheep. Read, educate yourselves on what is going on and ask why and how does it benefit everyone and not just those in political office.

Any officer who is terrified to do his job should have never been put on the job in the first place.
Resign and go sweep floors for a living.
I'd say go flip burgers, but you couldn't stand the heat.

Idiot. When you do your job, you stand the chance of being singled out for unfair criticism or punishment by either the media or your command staff. Both the local and Federal investigation into Ferguson found Officer Darren Wilson did not violate Michael Brown's civil rights nor did he use excessive force to stop a illegal attack on him yet his life is ruined. He did his job properly and still gets screwded over because of liars, race baiters and room temperature IQ morons like you.

Stick to flipping burgers, you don't have the intelligence for anything else.
