The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Comments Are Back

We've decided to re-institute comments after some careful consideration and a little cleanup work. We're still in the process of removing content that just doesn't meet our standards of good taste even if those comments include solicitations for cookie recipes. (We'd forward those particular readers to epicurious.com, a site where your sweet tooth can be satisfied without boring the rest of us with your culinary ignorance.)

Over the next few weeks we'll be working to remove the offensive and the just plain stupid. In the meantime we'll being moderating the comments on this site. You'll still be able to post anonymously but we'll only allow posts that have something to do with the topic at hand and don't include language that would make a sailor blush because that won't make the cut either. Feel free to disagree with us or with any commenter just do it within the bounds of good taste. So let the games begin... again.

Good job Eye. I was tired of the cookie requests, but not as tired as the personal attacks.

Great! Now that ground rules are present everyone knows what's expected.

Thank you, eye!

Yes, thank you Eye!

Eye, that's the right thing to do. But I ask you to be fair in determining which comments to delete. So far, you've allowed some nasty ones against certain people to remain, and deleted comments on others that were equally nasty.

Thank you! I'm glad and hope people will stick to the topics instead of the personal bashings that have taken place.

Did you know that it's against the law to post anonymously to a blog in an manner that can be interpreted as annoying or harassing. It's in the cyberstalking section of the Violence Against Women Act and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005.

Thank you! Its sad, but many officers look to this site to vent their frustrations. If we signed our names, we would all face retaliation, the king ray HATES to lose, and wont admit when he is wrong.

NOW everyone, please can you stand to be mature for a few minutes and leave opinions that arent intentionally hateful to others?
( i know its a stretch, but i have faith in you... you can do it!)

Two posts up, read the article that you posted carefully.

You will find that internet free speech is still protected under the 1st Amendment.

In addition, read the definitions, it will show you that this story is only used in extreme cases.

Bottom line, if the information presented is true, it's not even an issue.

"Bottom line, if the information presented is true, it's not even an issue."

Right. Political issues are fair game. Truth and defamation of personal character/libel are another story. I was referring more along the lines to a couple of women (and men) who had their personal reputations trashed in a few posts on this blog. It had absolutely no relevance to the topic at hand, other than to harm their reputation. Posters were treading in dangerous territory there.

I agree w/the Eye. We can vent as much as we want, and rage against the machine but when it comes to naming people and accusing them of some really nasty stuff and not even about the topic at hand, the Eye should reserve the right to delete it. Think about what it would be like without the Eye at all! That'd be hard to deal with.

Oh well, Mark B I mean the "Eye" would just have to get over it.

Oh No, another "you'll get over it" comment!!
