The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. COMMIT TO TELL TEN TO VOTE “NO” ON ALL BONDS AND “NO” TO THE RED LIGHT CAMERAS!

The Eye, as many others in our community, are tired of the incompetence of our City’s Leadership. The Eye is asking that you tell ten people to VOTE “NO” on all bond issues and “NO” on the Red Light Cameras. What does this mean; it means no more new taxes and the City continues as it is now. It also means, no more supporting Redflex; a company who is not in Albuquerque, let alone in New Mexico.

We are in the worst economy that we will ever see in our lifetime and the City is demanding the citizens pay more and more to compensate for their incompetence. So many people are out of work, losing their homes and cannot put groceries on the table and the City leadership is still trying to “squeeze blood out of a turnip.” New Mexico is the second poorest state in the Country. According to Channel 7 News (see it here) the average yearly income is the same amount of money that Reflex donate to a local fly-by-night outfit to keep the Scamera’s in place. We are a struggling community and any new taxes hurt our kids and our families directly. This is wrong on many levels.
Until the City’s leadership is able to handle (budget) the money that we have already entrusted them with and are able to bring the City up to where it was prior to Berry; we do not trust giving this incompetent group another penny. Mayor Berry wants his Faire Berry Land on the Bosque with our tax dollars. Ask this question, if we don’t have the money to run the City now, how is the City going to pay for costs associated with Faire Berry Land? Where are the additional law enforcement personnel? Where are the maintenance and grounds keepers, supervisors and other required staff and equipment? Who is going to pay for it? This is going to cost the tax payers a fortune!

This is plain stupid. The City leadership needs to become competent and prove they can handle it. Maybe then the tax payers might consider more taxes. For now, we are in the “Great Depression of our era.” The City needs to learn to “live within its’ means; just like the rest of us.” No New Taxes!

And for those liberals who have stated, “Well, it will only cost this much more per household per year…” If you think the cost is “affordable,” then you can pay the tab and there should be no need for any tax increases.

Redflex who owns the Red Light Scamera’s donated $45,000.00 to Safe Streets Albuquerque in hopes of fooling the citizens of Albuquerque into keeping their “Gravy Train.” Don’t be FOOLED! Send a true message to Redflex and the City Leadership and VOTE “NO” on the Scamera’s!

One last thought, Berry owns a few goons on the City Council and it is time to create an equal playing field for the citizens. It is time to get rid of a few problems. The Eye is recommending that you do not vote for Brad Winter who has failed to do his job with the council and continues to wreck APS. The Eye also recommends that you do not vote for Trudy Jones; “Tutti Frutti” who has shown that she cannot handle the job or responsibilities of the position. We are not endorsing anyone and especially NOT endorsing Winter or Jones. Remember these two clowns have been covering Berry’s track, including blocking a federal investigation into the twenty police shootings. If nothing was done wrong why would they oppose an outside investigation? Think about it before you cast your vote. The Eye is not asking you to vote Republican or Democrat; the Eye is asking you to make a better choice. This is not a partisan issue but a logical one.

Please commit to tell ten people to VOTE “NO” on all bonds and the Scamera’s! Ask those ten to tell ten more people to VOTE “NO!”

Thank you Eye. I have always voted for bonds when the trick words are used. Police, fire, schools, parks, ect., ect.. Over the years I have not seen any benefit to voting for these bonds. The schools are graduating less than 50% ( DISCUSTING ) and teachers are always lacking supplies . Where did the 1/4 cent sales tax go for public safety ? Bottom line is we don't know where any of this money goes. The City needs to be sent a message. The politicians must be sent a message, WE ARE WATCHING! NO MORE NEW MEXICO POLITICS! I have already got my ten people, and I will get many more. WE ALL MUST VOTE ! SAY GOODBY TO REDFLEX.

I respectfully disagree except the Red Flex. That needs to be a HUGE "NO".

Before you vote....Read the other bonds carefully and decide on your own. Just because an editorial says the City cant handle a budget dont mean squat. The prior admin and a systemic downturn in the market(Recession)put us here not the current admin.

Quit the blame game and do what is RIGHT for our kids and our community. Report the truth about how the actual bonds work. Call the City, ask them and get the true information. It is against the law to use money from any bond except for the voters approval. Our city is so backwards we cant even compete for business against other cities but you want the budget to be handled, well it comes from taxes folks, from business and tourism. Get on board the business first environment and your paychecks will come back. I can promise you that.

I 100% support Law Enforcement and feel 100% safe around town, and dont think there are cop problems with the rank and file.

I already voted NO on everything. I was at a community center, across town from my home, and found out I could vote there. There was no waiting as I was the only person in the room.

Please vote NO!. You can do it at any voting location. They look up your ballot, so any location you are at will take care of you. I want my taxes to drop. I also voted to drop Winter.

City Employees: This is your opportunity to tell Mayor Berry what you think about him, by voting 'No' to Redflex and Bond Question 12.

Just a reminder: Question 12 is the money Mayor Berry took from you last year when he cut pay.

He cares more about a pet project to build softball fields in the wasteland of Mesa Del Sol, and hold $25M in a slush fund because I-25/Paseo isn't going to get built without at least $350M.

This is the same Mayor that is going to force city employees to take two additional unpaid furlough days this year as a retalatory measure for tough union negotiations.

This election matters because the general public doesn't come out to vote on Bond Questions, so tell your co-workers, tell your friends, tell your family to vote NO. EVERY VOTE IS GOING TO MATTER

A couple of things not to forget:

Early voting ends on Friday, Sept. 30th

The City moved voting locations on Oct. 4th, so you probably don't vote where you usually do. The good news is you can vote at any voting location this year (Call 311 to double check).

You need to bring a picture ID

You don't have to vote for every question! You can just vote NO on Redflex and Bond Question 12.

I agree with Sgt. Heh -- in the past I've been rooked into voting yes on bonds and saw nothing, repeat, nothing come of it. Yes for the library bonds last time was supposedly for "materials" yet there are fewer and fewer new titles available at your local library. So WHERE DID THE BOND MONEY GO???????

As a city employee it is important to tell Mayor Berry NO on his latest pet project. He won;t play ball with us, so we won't play his game either. I'd like to take it step further and tell the entire city bond people NO to all of their stupid bonds. Just say no and watch your property taxes go down, lower with each no. It's important as our salaries and benefits are eliminated that the Mayor's pet projects go down as well.

What the problem with building the paseo extension. We need it. I live in Taylor Ranch and taking paseo suck pipe. Can someone explain. I am planning on voting no to everything but that.

The way the ballot is written you can't vote no to everything but that. It is all or nothing for Berry's special projects. The money he is setting aside for Paseo is nothing compared to the cost of redoing Paseo. Both the state and feds have said they have no matching funds. So I recommend not tying up $25,000,000 in money for Paseo that will just sit there. Vote no on everything! Paseo does suck at rush hour, but this bond election does not fix it. It just wastes more of our money.

Slush funds, kickbacks, theft, graft is what Berry, White, Trudy and the rest that support these bonds are in it for.
VOTE NO ON EVERYTHING INCLUDING RED LIGHT CAMERAS. they are not working for the salaries folks; its the kickbacks in brown envelopes. Ask Darren White how that works. He's been doing it for years. These people have no honor what so ever. Freaking thieves. Don't allow them the vehicles they need to fill their pockets. VOTE NO!!

No to bonds and no to Nate's. Drive by there everyday there are way to many police cars there. Lets keep pressure on everyone.

Anonymous said...

I've noticed less and less police vehicles there. A good sign?

Vote no on the Red Light Scamera's.

Then vote out DOJ guy Ken Sanchez.

Oh and thanks for the generous handout..."there really are SOME good cops".

Next, let's get rid of the bad city councillors.

UNM finally fired Locksley for his horrible record.

When will Albuquerque finally fire Schultz?

Locksley cost UNM about $500,000. Schultz has cost the taxpayers almost $15,000,000. So just when will we wake up and fire Schultz?

Mmmmmm. I have mentioned this to many more than ten people at work, some of my friends and family which has elicited the same response: "I am not going to waste my time voting for something that has been decided already, i.e. red light cameras and the sportsplex". The City of Albuquerque has gained the reputation/disrespect that has plagued Rio Arriba and part of Santa Fe counties for years. Corruption, greed, ignorance, and overactive libidos.

I also voted no to the bonds and red light yesterday.

So the council will not be guided by the voice of the people? Huh?

I voted early yesterday (28th) at city hall basement. I just mareked all the little ovals next to against/contra. It was refreshing --I felt sort of like a anarchist, but I liked that feeling!!!!!

Privatized traffic law enforcement systems may or may not be a useful tool in keeping drivers and pedestrians safe. But when private firms and municipalities consider profits first, and safety second, the public interest is threatened. Before pursuing a camera system contract, local governments should heed the advice (http://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/intersection/resources/intsafpst092609/long/ ) of the Federal Highway Administration and first investigate traffic engineering solutions for problem intersections or roadways. If officials decide that private enforcement systems are appropriate, they should avoid deals that constrain decisions about protecting safety. Privatized traffic law enforcement should be used solely as a tool for enhancing traffic safety – not as a cash cow for municipalities or private firms.

The U.S. Public Interest Research Group will be releasing a report on this subject on October 27. Once it is released, it will be available atwww.uspirg.org/trafficcamreport.
