The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Survey Says!!!

Several weeks ago the Albuquerque Police Officer's Association initiated a survey requesting from it's membership their take on a variety of issues. Foremost among those questions were how do you rank morale, what are the source(s) of APD's problems, how has Mayor Berry done, should the DOJ come in, how has Chief Schultz done, and should Chief Schultz be fired? Despite the, and frequently emotional, discussion here at the Eye, the APOA received a stunning turnout in respondents in the survey. Yesterday, in unusual step of bravery, APOA President, Greg Weber, and Vice-President, Shawn Willoughby, announced the results and the masses have spoken:

-99% of the officers say morale is as low as it could get

-80% disapprove of how Chief Schultz has handled the department
-95% disapprove of mayor Berry
-50% assert that Chief Schultz should be fired

Over the year we have heard about endless details about how during the Department's quarterly management meetings, values such as integrity and leadership skills have been promoted and taught via a series of speakers. Yet when the media sought a comment from Chief Schultz regarding these results, not only did he refuse to comment, but he expressed disappointment in not being briefed by the APOA regarding the results of the survey. Much like Chief Schultz publicly berated KRQE reporter Kim Holland for not alerting APD to officer misconduct before reporting on it, we at the Eye are staggered by the endless pomposity shown by APD's Chief of Police. We say this with all seriousness, Ray Schultz is the Chief of Police for the Albuquerque Police Department. Yet, as we have seen time and time again, he is a chief in title only; because he does not act like one or respect the position.

As dozens, if not hundreds, of officers continue to retire the future is now with APD. Our appreciation to the hundreds of rank and file who have to deal with department leadership that frequently is less trustworthy than criminals on the street remains strong. Hang in there APD officers and detectives the power remains with you to ultimately change this failed leadership.

Mayor Berry you own this, remember that fact when you run for re-election. You have allowed A.P.D. who was ranked in the top ten amoung police departments in The United States to now being faced with a takeover by The Justice Department. Remember the last election ? I do. I supported you only later to find out everything you told me and many other officers was a lie. Well Mayor I won't make that mistake again. Trust a politician is a one way ticket to la la land. Rank and file hang in there the election is less than a year away. I will do everything within my power to correct this situation even if that means I have to run for Mayor. I have learned the only person I can trust to do what needs to be done is me. I am in no way perfect and don't pretend to be but I have always done what I say I will do. The Officers, fire, employees, and citizens of Albuquerque deserve better. We are sick of all the spin and coverups. So attack me all you want but a least put your name to it. The City is in freefall and it is going to end.

APD is not the only Department in a melt down. So is the Fire Deparment with its retirments and "no confidence vote" Chief Breen, not to mention the Legal Department giving a blank settlement checks to Berry's and Perry's legal pals to the tune of $10 million during Berry's 3 years in office. But the public gives Berry a 67% approval rating, unbelievable!

I was in the basement of the main this morning and heard this awful noise coming through the stairwell. For a second I wasnt sure what it was...then I figured it out. It was Ray yelling his ass off at Greg for going to the media without the consent and knowledge of his "spin team". I bet there is a whole lota red faced, turkey neckin action goin on the 5th floor today. Whats wrong Ray? Is you Department imploding all around you???? Good riddins you worthless fuk.

Apoa....invite Rob Perry and Schultz down for a closed door meeting at HQ. They wanna talk. Let's talk. Its time they come to our house. You'll have a great turnout.

APOA will release the results of the survey but not the audit. Funny how the Board thinks what is important and what is not. What is important is my money that I pay every month for dues. Morale is what every Officer makes it. You have a lot of good Officers working the SE and Cass stabbing them in the back. Cass makes morale bad.

release the whole survey!!! Theres more eye!

This Chief and his crap is looking and sounding alot like Obama and his refusal to talk about LIBYA... He only wants to talk about stuff he can control.. Its sad that only 450 surveys were returned.. I thought there was over 1000 on APD????

"APOA Vice President Officer Shaun Willoughby says the chain of command is through the Schultz, and they did call him and brief him for an hour before releasing the survey.

Schultz, however, says he learned of it 90 minutes before the release, wasn't briefed and only got a copy of the survey Wednesday morning."

So who's lying? Was Schultz briefed or not. Any chance you boys ran tape while you spoke with Ray?!?!? Also, for Ray to say he didn't know about the survey is a joke...it was all over the media when it was launched. Shcultz must be the most unintentionally uninformed chief in history of chiefs of police.

Oh but where is the self stroke survey of the APD. you know hwere they scored 95%? Did Schultz brief the APOA on that before hand?

Are Commanders and DC's and the Chief allowed to be APOA members???

Inviting Perry and Schultz to headquarters is not our house silly it's their house. Schultz need to go to an APOA Meeting and face his tropps. Perry doesn't owe us a thing its Schultz we answer to. Hold his feet to the fire. And the yelling in the staircase don't buy that at all don't post false shit, especially that far fetched.

saw berry on the news earlier. He said he doesn't care what the cops say. its about time we start making him care.

Tonight on 13....
the Mayor's new plan to get people to want to be cops....
News Flash dickhead Dr. Phil.
People do want to be cops, BUT they don't want to work for a Mayor who can't stand his employees, disregards contracts, supports a lying corrupt administration who frames their officers, botches investigations, then tries to cover it all up. They don't want to work for an administration who will throw them under the bus for doing their job.
It's all going to come out when you dirt bags are shown the door. When the 5th floor is gone, and there is a mayor in office with some integrity and balls, everyone will see just what the problem was. It will be evident when the trash is taken out and the foul smell dissipates, that a handfull of liars, and criminals were the problem.

Keep spinning your bullshit in the newspapers and to the media. Dangle shiny objects in front of people to entice them, and all you will have is a bunch of people who took the job for the wrong reason, just like your chief and his deputies. Nothing but a bunch of uniform hangers. But what else should we expect from a superficial politician who is only concerned whith what things look like? After all, why would the citizens of ALbuquerque want people who have wanted to be police officers over those who have to be coaxed into boarding a sinking ship lead by a bunch of worthless wastes of air?
Good luck in your campaign to bring good folks into a filthy environment, then ruin their lives. There is not one intelligent individual who would dare take a job with APD right now.

"It's neither my goal nor my job to win a popularity contest with the union, but we want to make sure our officers are safe."--Berry

"We all got in this job knowing we're not going to get rich."--Schultz

So what is it fellas? On Monday, PERA was causing everybody to leave because of some minor cost of living adjustments set to happen in four years. Today it's who gives a shit?!?

And waht's up with that hopping thing Schultz does whenver he's talking? AND Berry...you have a date a with a retired sergeant. Look for me in the auidtorium, I'll be the guy with the bucket of popcorn throwing kernals at you while you get owned inside and out!

Shame on Berry!!!

And this jetBlu story!? Wow, 1 midnight flight from Abq to Nyc. That'll be packed with all the 34s leaving Apd. Wanna bet service gets cancelled after their testing period is over. Total spin and lies.

That's a nervous tick. Hopping up and down, Bobbling his head from side to side like some news commentator while trying to enamore himself to everyone like he's some jolly good fella. If you can't see through this disgusting fraud, you need an eye operation.
You should see him testify. Can't look anyone in the face. Why is it this guy can be the great onscreen commentator but can't testify worth a shit? This guy can't get enough turkey necking action. DOes he only wear his makeup for the duke city blues videos? I always laughed my ass off at that old lady makeup line around his face that he gets when he does those videos. Nothing like a turkey necked bluehair who can't see well enough to put their makeup on.

Honoring pay raises and hiring more officers?!?!? I like why the APOA president dances around the real issues plaguing APD. More money and more officers has nothing to do whit why officers are afraid to do their jobs. How about the 5th floor and their liars? How about high level corruption, intimidation and retaliation for standing up and doing the right thing in this department. Take another survey about the issues of concern specifically targeting these issues in the poll. The APOA president is a passive pussy. Get a man in there who is going to hurt some feelings with the truth and tell them what is up.

I wonder why they are understaffed? Let's see how things have changed since the mayor was elected. The department has gone from 1100 officers on the department, to under 1000, with approximately 200 expected to leave because of pay issues and working environment. The citizens and media are frequently bashing officers, when they may want to look at the management (Top down). The current police contract is ignored, try doing that with your mortgage and see where that gets you. Increased standards of hire to require college or military. I believe an educated person would avoid this employer. Four ten shift to a five eight. Crime at a 20 year low? (I want to thank the mayor for personally patrolling the streets to bring crime down) Jk, Thanks to the officers that go to work every day and rise above all the crap that is fed to them daily. These issues are but a drop in the bucket of the problems infecting APD.

New leadership is desperatly needed for our city and police department. When the mayor is done wrecking APD with his personal vendetta, it may be too late to turn things around.

It appears that the only way to get rid of the Chief of Police, The Fire Chief and the Chief Administrative Officer is to not have Berry re-elected.

What were the results of the survey with respect to what members thought of the APOA????

Once again Ken Walz's paper shows how truly biased it is. They can't run editorials fast enough taking positions about the actions or words of regular cops or Democrats but now that their homie Berry is under the gun....nothing but silence.....

8:30,
You said it. These crumbs can not be reelected. Period. Everybody needs to start now on this. No doubt they are. Make them jobless and known as the failing cause behind the collapse of this place. This will be evident when a qualified leader replaces them and things instantly turn around.

Ken Walz is a babysitter not an editor. He thinks he is a lawyer but he isn't. He thinks he is a journalist but evidence says not! He is a babysitter to a bunch of newsroom babies who want attention.

We aren't the only ones who see through the paper's bias: www.abqjournalwatch.com. Wow!

speaking of surveys, notice how the full details of last summer's financial audit have not be told to us. how many tens of thousands of dollars did joey and flip steal from us???
