The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Berry Claims Crime is Down: Tell that to the Three Police Officers and One Deputy Shot in the Streets of Albuquerque on Saturday

It has been a few weeks since the 11% of Albuquerque voters put Mayor Berry back into office.  Now comes the political “hang-over.”  Berry stated crime is down and him and his wife, Maria, love walking around downtown Albuquerque because it is so safe. It is a good thing Berry and Maria weren’t out for their walk on Saturday when a masked armed terrorist stuck downtown Albuquerque; gunning down three APD Officers and one Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputy.  And what did Berry and the New Interim Chief of Police, Allen Banks, say? Oh that’s right, Berry was out-of-town on a hunting trip and well, Banks was not present in the public.

Our Eyes tell us on Saturday, a masked armed terrorist wearing army type clothing told a spectator to call the police; that he (the terrorist) would be waiting. The responding officers were ambushed and found exactly what the call said; a masked armed man dressed in army fatigues.  A gun battle ensued and the offender wounded several APD officers and fled in an APD marked police unit. It should be noted that our Eyes tell us the officers were not hit with any bullets but by secondary projectiles.

This terrorist raced through our streets unbeknownst to the public for over twenty minutes because APD did not notify the media of the peril or the media was ordered by Berry’s cronies NOT to let the public know ANYTHING. For those 11% who voted Berry back in; here is another snake to stuff in your pocket.

As this terrorist raced along our streets we are told he fired several bullets randomly until he spotted a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputy.  The terrorist fired at the deputy and she was struck in the leg. The terrorist was forced to crash and his worthless existence was terminated some time later...

For over an hour nothing was told to the public. When information was known it was minimal and kept low key by your local media.

Here are our concerns:

Why were units allowed to arrive when the reports were pouring in about the terrorist who was armed with a high powered assault rifle?  Why didn’t they wait till a K-9 officer or SWAT officer or an officer with a long rifle arrived and set up?  When this offender went mobile the danger to all increased tremendously.

Why wasn’t the public immediately notified? Why the secrecy? Doesn’t the public deserve to know what is going on in our city?

Why wasn’t the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) immediately activated? This type of critical situation will have lingering effects and the need to receive and disseminate information from one central location is of paramount of concern.  The EOC would have been able to multi-task on several different levels with multiple agencies, organizations and resources.  That is what the EOC is for!

Why didn’t the Interim Chief appear or a high ranking official to give the public an up-date? Why was Banks “shell shocked” so badly? Why was Banks ordering the dispatch NOT to give out the condition of the officers over the air?  This was critical information for supervisory staff to have in order to make the best decisions.

This all plays into a mediocrity type leadership. For a department the size of APD this means failure.

Sheriff Houston was hiding somewhere and for who knows what reason.

Oh yes, and we have heard about the conversation our Interim Chief Banks had with Raymondo Schultz.  He wasn’t much help was he Allen?

The fact of the matter is this; Berry was re-elected and now the community must pressure this incompetent fool to hire competent personnel into key positions. We are stuck with Berry; make him work for the betterment of the City of Albuquerque. What happened to the 35k Perry spent on the California Company that was supposed to search for a new chief?  This City is dying for competent leadership.

Now for the “political hang-over,” the 11% of idiots who voted Berry back into office need to reflect and realize their error.  But as with any hang over; we are all stuck with feeling nauseated and dealing with the headache. And yes, we are stuck with this inept Mayor and his inept leadership he has set in place.

The press release Sunday from the City, APD and BSCO proves the lack of leadership. Banks, Berry and Houston stumbled on their own jaws as they spoke.  The whole leaves us alone; don’t ask any questions; we are going slow boloney, proves none of them have any idea what happened or what is going on or what needs to be done…what a bunch of buffoons.

This article is not aimed at law enforcement, who is the victim of this attack, but the failed administration.  Our hearts and prayers go out to all those involved.  We pray for the victims and families of this senseless tragedy and ask for your prayers, as well.

Come on EYE. I actually liked that PD and SO did not bow down to the media. Thats the way is should be. We are so used to Shultzy giving the intel up before its necessary. EOC. Are you dikking me. This was an active situation that last about 2o minutes before the bad guy was terminated. Not an ongoing 5 day event. What planet are you from. Stop the bashing and lets support the troops that are wounded. You get more bees with honey then with vinegar....

All officers involved performed bravely. Berry / Banks will state that any review of the facts surrounding the incident only harm those who were involved. We must get past that and demand an entire review of what happened.

This review should be done by an outside firm. Here are some of the things they should look at:

What was the staffing level for the Valley Area Command watch 2?

What was the time response from when the call came in to when officers arrived on scene?

Did the sergeant identify a kill zone and start setting up a perimeter? If not why not? If so why did the officer drive into the kill zone?

Just how many officers were dispatched? How were they equiped?

Why the long time delay in getting this on the media?

Once the chase began was there a plan or did the crook direct all actions? How long was the chase going to be allowed to continue? Again did anyone have a plan to stop it?

Was there a radio failure that led to the BCSO deputy being shot. By this I mean because BCSO is on a different frequency was she not aware the chase was heading right toward her?

Brave actions saved her life. Whatever the first officers had or did should be noted and all officers provided this training and equipment.

These are only some of the questions that need to be reviewed and reported to the citizens in a public report.

Did APD training prepare officers/sergeants for this type of active shooter? There should be a review of APD training for incidents such as this, from the top to the bottom.

My biggest question is just how many Valley dayshift officers were working? This would point directly at APD and City hall for not having enough officers working as first responders in the field.

We need to ask these questions and the answers need to be made public. APD and BCSO have brave officers, but has Albuquerque City Hall and the Chief at APD failed these officers by not providing them the resources they need to control a situation like this? If the answer is YES then the citizens have been placed in great danger. Will Berry be brave enough to order an independent review? Will the city council? Or will they all run for political cover by saying everyone was brave and we should not review them?

Houston at least seemed real. I love how he gives kudos to all the folks who extend their appreciation to APD and BCSO. Except of course RJ Berry. Because Berry of course was where he was as usual...sweating bullets and terrified. Fuck you RJ.

My copy of the 2013 bid results shows that at most there were 19 officers and 2 sergeants combined from team 2 and team 3 on duty Saturday. Anybody want to advise what the exact number was?

Anonymous said...

Two points to make.

First the media is important in this matter to notify the public that there was danger in the area. I was watching KOAT (football) and about 2 hours after the incident all that was run was a ticker at the bottom saying there was police activity at 4th and Montano. That's it. That is not good enough. The public safety demands a faster and more informed response. Nothing was even said about Broadway and Bridge being shut down. Any other town and this would have been breaking news LIVE. Not here.

Second point. The bid shows 2 sergeants and 19 officers. The bid was back in March. The real number is the Valley Area daily lineup. APD needs to release it to show who was working, who was on vacation, who was in training, who called in sick, etc. I will bet that not very many of the bid officers were actually working Saturday. But to put that to rest all APD has to do is release the daily line up with no BS about SWAT and K9. They are not Valley assigned officers.

9:21,
Take your propaganda and go fuck yourself. You want bees? Go roll around in some honey, and take a walk. 4 officers were shot you asshole. The sweeping under the rug bullshit is over. Everyone here is supporting the troops. They always have. It is your asshole Berry along with his police administration who hang them out to dry. Ask any of the officers how they felt dealing with this situation and if it wasn't in the backs of their heads that if they did anything this administration of cowards could throw them under the bus for, they would be crucified. THAT IS THE TRUTH YOU IMBECIL.

Now Banks wants to divert attention away from the fact that there were probably no officers on the streets yesterday. Banks being directed by berry and his group of liars and mind game experts want to make people feel guilty for asking the important questions like above. This is a cluster fuck. All of these officers shot and a police car stolen. I think the police chief should be answering questions, not saying no comment, not now, and I don't know. If it was a cop they were hanging out to dry the lapel cam footage along with a statement from the chief that the officers will be terminated would have been out before the scene wrapped up.
These characters forget that their patterns of conduct and the ways they deviate from that pattern when there is a motive behind their actions shows that something is not right.

Schultz bragged about his hi tech real time crime center and how it will give the police the one up on the bad guys. Where was his RTCC on this call. Why couldn't the cameras watch the bad guy providing information to responding officers as they were enroute? Everyone who has destroyed this place are nothing but sham artists and snake oil salesmen.

And all Berry and Banks could say was that they will get them back to work. Why don't you assholes worry about letting them heal then decide if they want to return back to work. The devil is in the details folks and Banks let slip a lot between the lines when he gave that press conference. Maybe he should take a lesson from Berry and drink lots of water when he is talking because it looked like he had marbles between his teeth and lips. Maybe he could then get one whole sentence completed without licking his lips and mouth like an idiot.

So mister internet give the brass a break clown, go back to telling your club of assholes how to lie. You were much better at that. Dickhead.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the officers as they recover.

Any review of the incident will harm those cowards like Berry Banks and Schultz who were not involved. You all precipitated this so enough with the don't ask us questions for the sake of the real heroes. We all know the officers are heroes now somebody needs to explain why this happened to them.

Chris Chase....ex APD 34 Chris Chase!?!?!?!?!?! also, shit head drove right by the infamous SWAT office.....never shda lasted anywhere near as long as it did.

The public and the officers demand an independent review. City Council President Dan Lewis is always saying he only provides money, well Mr. Lewis now is the time to put aside $10,000 or more to hire an outside police consulting firm to do a complete study regarding this incident. Now is the time. Does Lewis have the courage?

Anonymous said...

Nah it's not the former APD officer Chris Chase he was a sex predator not a raving lunatic. I do believe this offender was on one of those property crime flyers recently... Wonder when he got the cop killer tattoo?????? Our thoughts and prayers are with the officers and deputy involved. Quick healing. God bless you.

Seriously, if Chase was once APD 34 this hush-hush came from the 5th & 11th floors, that explains it. They're trying to hide stuff from DOJ if in fact the dead asshole was once APD. This is getting THICK.

I see that fat disgusting levy was out at the scene no doubt trying to cover shit up.

I would bet that the RTCC does not operate on weekends. It's an inside position/closet so they all have weekends off.

I don't get this anymore. We are complaining that a local tv station didn't have the info until several hours later. If I recall, Banks and Houston did a PC about 24 hours later. I work in the VA Area command and information was tight lipped. Why are we going to be asking all the questions that were listed in an above posting when everyone worked together. Why are we critizing the APD Sgt when he did an outstanding job? This web site has gone to shit. Don't be a Monday morning quarterback that is rule number one.

RE: come on EYE; You get more bees with honey then with vinegar....

Wake up, we here at the Eye are not paid; we do not sell or advertise anything. We are not here to try and get more bees. You want honey go to another blog site who sells honey. We are about the truth.

This is a perfect example of what is wrong at APD.

"Why are we going to be asking all the questions lised in an above posting when everyone worked together"

Really, did you really just post this? Gosh everyone worked so well together, 4 cops were shot, a bad guy stole a police car, a bad guy is dead after a lenthy chase, but in your opinion any critique is criticism. WOW. In your world nothing would ever be reviewed because we can't hurt anyones feelings now can we.

Get over it and grow up. Find the courage to say let's review this. Let's figure out what we did right and what we did wrong and what we can do better.

If you are afraid of being critiqued then you are certainly in the wrong line of work. Unfortuanatley for Albuquerque the command staff and city hall don't want any critiques. They don't want to learn and train to do better. God help us if this is the new APD.

Here is a documentary from the LAPD riots. They were not afraid to look at themselves and ask what could they do better and what did they do good. It pulls no punches, but I am positive it has changed training at LAPD and probably saved lives with the changes made.

APD should be doing the same with Saturday's event. This is a training moment that should not be allowed to pass. We can be better prepared next time something happens. I am not just speaking about the first responders response, but all the way up the chain, dispatch, mayor and city council policies. How many officers were working Valley dayshift? No one has said. This is where the review begins.

Realizing just how lucky we all were is no way to run a police department. We are professionals and as professionals we should always strive to do better and never should we be afraid of review.

7:47, take your Pom poms ans shove them down your throat. Sgt did great almost. Who the fuck drove right in on the scene? Where were all the sector 22 units? Why was a unit not 21ng the caller directly? After deadly force was authorized over the air why was he not pitted into oblivion? Why did anybody wait for it to be aired??? These are valid concerns for NEXT TIME. But to say "everybody worked together" and hi five it is rookie bullshit. And if I hear Banks or some other leader say "were hurting" one more time... We're cops, we expect this shit. Get away from me with that shit.

This whole thing is an example of the mediocrity promotion of people who have NO CLUE. There was no tactical sense given to the first responding units going to the scene. The result is those ofcs. and deputy being shot. YOU DO NOT JUST DRIVE INTO A 31 WHEN A CALLER SAYS 'THERE IS A MAN WITH A GUN WAITING FOR OFFICERS.'
There are already a couple of substations named after officers who did just that.

11:20,
Damn, you are right. I will bet Berry is losing sleep every night over this. He will probably need to talk to somebody. And Banks, he probably can't stop lying, um uh.... I mean lying.... And both of them probably went to go see Levy for the laying of the fat nasty hands and the annointing of the sick. As a matter of fact I am willing to bet that they are flogging themselves over their officers being hurt. Gee, I wonder just what Banks Levy and Berry were doing just as officers were being shot at. I wonder.....

TR, it's all good but I'm pretty sure I've got you ID'd from our debrief. Never would a believed it, but i think so. And if that idiot ever does take you up on coffee he's a full. You're good to go brother.

I'm sorry, but I do not agree with you. A terrible job was done. This was not Ann active shooter situation. Weekday happened to setting up perimeters. I hope we find out that air support was called, k9, swat, etc.... we had eyes on the suspect through the caller....why did we engage this guy with so few officers. Since when do we engage an armed suspect (not active shooter) with just one or two officers???? There was a break down here, and I hope we get to the bottom of it. This should not have happened, and better not happen again. I could go on and on about all of the failures, but I will let the investigation do that!

Amen!!!

The lack of training and judgement of APD officers who "allowed" / abandoned a squad car to be jacked by a dangerous shooter needs to be addressed (and corrected). The relationship between APD and Aryan Nations needs to be cleared and the community made safer. Too bad APD is so dishonest. Albuquerque is a very dangerous place due to the incompetence and ineffectiveness of its police force-period. Too much greed, too much corruption has destroyed the quality of life for innocent citizens. How else to explain the very high gang member per capita ratio that exists ?

@2:19,
You too homie! Use 48 with these fuckers. Our Profession is still a noble one. APD is just the Bermuda Triangle right now. The lowlife money grubbing malfeasants on the 5th and 11th floors have done this. Keep the faith though, because they are in for major legal and criminal issues ahead. And the ones who ran away early aren't on home base either.

But I do wish these candyass mary janes would come have some of the best coffee in the world with me.
I don't understand. Is it me? What do these shy little bastards have against Satellite. I love it there. Nothing like a warm cozy chair, a fire, a little companionship, and excellent service from the best coffee making staff in the state. (I don't get paid for this.) I don't ask for much. Maybe a trip to the parking lot so I don't have to walk to my car alone... a discussion on bone setting techniques with emphasis on spiral fractures.... endless talks on post run off at the mouth syndrome and the benefits of maxillofacial reconstructive procedures to rectify and correct the situation..... Great coffee,(the Night Sky Roast is the tits! You gotta try it!) company and outstanding topics of conversation. And I would buy the coffee. That's the funny thing here. Who passes up free coffee?!?! I mean What the Fuck!!Not cops, that's for sure. That's how I know these pukes are either not cops, or they are those pesky little uniform hanger cop imposters who betrayed their oath and collect a check on the backs of the real oath takers. You know, the assholes who stayed logged on bullshit all night, while their beat is getting raped. The cowards who picked the slowest area commands for their year and a half on the street before going inside like a sissy. The same clowns who promote up the chain to commander and DCOP, in the same time it takes a good officer to just land a day work spot. Not a cabin in the woods, nor a side piece's flop house of an apartment are as good as a piping hot cup of coffee down at Satellite. Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmm Good!

Well, I have to go my friend. The holiday Season is coming fast and I have to make some Eggnog.
Till the next debriefing!
Keep the Faith!

Didn't the first officer on scene get fired on and he had to flee for cover? So more than likely he was unable to take the keys out of the ignition. The gutless crazy man realized the vehicle was running and got in it and split. I don't think that officer should be disciplined if he hadn't run fir cover we all could be attending a 34's funeral. Don't know about all of you but I do not want to attend a funeral for anyone especially a 34. Be safe...

Are you kidding??? WE ARE COPS! We don't have a 911 to call. Since he didn't use smart tactics to FIRST find the guy, and drove up I HOPE by mistake, 34s drive a 3000 lb bullet, dunk and run over the shooter. As always, the lame low stress academy produces a cop that doesn't think in a high stress situation, and the results are a fiasco.

Anonymous said...

Duh, I must've missed that day at the academy, you know the invisible deployment lesson where we don't pull up in front of where the suspect/scene is....

Anonymous said...

First thing taught at Critical Incident School is to contain the situation. That means for someone to take command and have the officers 34 before going into the area. Set up a perimeter. Identify the kill zone. Keep officers out of the kill zone and keep the offender in. That is rule number 1.

For whatever reason this rule got broken. There needs to be a full investigation and honesty needs to reign. Other issues I saw were officers trying to deploy spike belts. HELLO!!!!! This guy is shooting at you as he drives by, deadly force is approved, and officers are tossing spike belts? Who is teaching these officers? Another issue, deadly force was authorized but no sergeant or lt had a plan to do it. And with S23 being the lead car in the pursuit why did any other Sgt or LT come on the air and take authority over the scene? S23 was in the chase, that means he shouldn't be trying to direct it also. Why didn't any other supervisor announce on the radio that they would be the incident commander and start making a plan to stop this guy? Not much teamwork among supervisors. Chase went on for 30 minutes, 4 cops shot, wrecked police car. I think we just got real lucky. That's all, real lucky.

Anonymous said...

Lucky??? Tell that to Deputy Robin Hopkins who just got out of ICU, and still faces multiple surgeries well past Thanksgiving. I'm sure she won't agree with me, but lucky is a poor choice of words.
