The Scam Goes On

For those of you who haven't been near a radio today, 770 KKOB AM is reporting that the Almighty One is all set to veto the scam-era moratorium passed by the city council on Capo's night. Of course the reason given will be that he would like the task farce to have time to do their work and Councilor Sanchez is already predicting the outcome will be lower fines, a continued revenue stream for the city's general fund, and Marty's guilty until proven guilty kangaroo court systems.

Of course Marty's move doesn't exactly surprise us as he really doesn't have any political pressure points right now due to his early defeat in the Democratic primary. His Honor will feel free to pretty much operate with impunity except for that pesky Council President Brad Winter and what still looks to be a somewhat hostile council.

Missed that, but heard the Almighty One on KOBTV just now. He basically said on camera that he didn't want to approve the moratorium on the scam-eras because of all the "hundreds of thousands of tickets" that are pending and that those violators tickets just can't go away....violators have to be accountable for them

too bad he can't apply that logic to himself

Marty, needs that money!

Anonymous said...

All the sweeter when a real court declares this scam illegal and in conflict with NM law.

Now all we need to find is a real court in New Mexico.

That's all that will do him. His reputation is disgracing this City from coast to coast.
Even the pros in Vegas don't want to. They're repulsed as if they were doing Don Rickles.
Only East Central pros will do.

He will go down as thee most despised mayor ever, anywhere.

Councilor Winter please continue to lead and act in behalf of us citizens. Please bring an over ride vote to the scums veto. It will not pass but it will expose the councilors that need to be removed from office. Citizens dont believe anything that comes from the police, the top brass is bought and paid for by the scum merchant Marty .

Hey, if you don't like red light camera fines DON'T RUN RED LIGHTS!

Anonymous said...

I agree that red light runners are bad, that is not the issue. In a state where it is nearly impossible to convict felons, even with video proof, we find ourselves shelving the constitution for traffic tickets?? If we must have a guilty until...well forever , type of system for a crime- how about we make it for crack dealers and violent criinals first? No one of you "just drive nice" folks can answer that one.

Anonymous said...

Above poster is right, but the way Marty and Ray put together the scam light program the saying should be,

"If you don't like the constitution, don't abide by it!"

People that don't like the red light cameras or speed vans don't want to violate the law. They want our government to abide by our constitution and give us the right to due process. This is what the scam vans and scam lights violate.

And if Marty is so concerned about it, he should have done a task force prior to putting the program in place.

Above Poster: you're being simplistic and glib. It's not just the issue of running a red light anymore--the entire system is flawed, don't you get it? i.e., like where'd the money from those fines go, and does councilor Cadigan's lawfirm have a conflict of interest by representing Redflex, and where is the safety data that supports keeping the cameras, etc., etc. ad nauseum....personally, I don't care about the cameras-I have a perfect driving record, have never run a red light, etc., and I'm proud of the fact that I am probably close to being a perfect driver and I still HATE THE RED CAMERAS!!!!

Anonymous said...

If I run a red light, I want an officer to come to me and tell me and then give me my constitutional right to appeal and fight in court. these cameras are a money maker and have nothing to do with stopping accidents. they are a revenue for marty

above post +1 BUT.......................Tell the truth. This administration has lied from day one. They doctored the numbers for accidents. The mayor first stated that the numbers were in and they 'drastically' reduced the numbers of collisions. When all that happened was the fact the Chief Schultz ( I use him because he is ultimately responsible) was they changed the area in which they accidents were calculated.

Hence, a new outcome, the cameras actually INCREASED rear-end collisions by a greater percentage than they reduced overall accidents. Now is that drivers fault, well of course it is. The fact is the administration lied.

The placement of the camera. First it was decided that placement was based on accidents. FALSE, they were placed where the traffic flows are the greatest, hence a greater ratio of violators.

The fact that they stated the system is "error proof". Well we all saw the news story on the intersection of Carlisle and Montgomery, false red light flashes as the timer was off. The city's response? It was an anomaly. So that anomaly went to the intersection of Coors and Sequioa, where the speed limit was wrong.

Which brings to point, if the city was not interested in revenue they would not have added the speed enforcement of the programs.

Then the speed vans, great idea at first because they were touted for school zones,AWESOME!!!!!! Guess they weren't making enough revenue so why not stick them on the interstate. Not just any part of the interstate though. The only 55 MPH stretch of the interstate in the city.

Then they were to add rumble strips, they knew they had to do this on July 1, 2007, why because in February the Governor mandated it. The city had roughly 5 months to complete rumble strips but they started on July 1. The mayors comment....The state shouldn't have a problem with all the intersections being marked as required because we started the work on July 1.

Now news that wrong cars are being cited and confirmation that is being done.

Government is about trust, this administration ruined that trust. Not only because of this program but all the other crap that goes on with it.

I fell in love with the red light camera program at first, now I can't wait to get rid of it. It has not proven itself as effective and cannot be trusted.

I have seen the program in other states such as California and Scottsdale. Seems like their system, the same Redflex system, was not based on a lies by a pitchman and are effective.

Way to go Mayor and Chief for ruining a program that could actually save lives into one that can't be trusted.

"if you don't like red light camera fines DON'T RUN RED LIGHTS"

THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE

#1: the public recently found out that city hall doesn't know where the money is going, a semi quote from Bruce Pearlman.
SIDENOTE: I know where every
dime is my accounts.
#2: When dealing with millions $ shouldn't the city know where the money is?
#3: Notice how the camera's are in the non-poverty stricken areas of the city?
#4: Fines are outrageous, even for us Heights people.
#5: In Scottsdale a hundred bucks is like a tip at a bar. We're in NM here, one of the most poverty stricken states in the US.
#6: Wasn't the fine money suppose to go to public safety?? I guess that meant raises for police and fire chief's plus their deputies. What about a higher income to intice people to want to become part of APD.

I don't mind the camera's because as nerdy as I am, I don't run red lights on purpose. There is the occasional slip. But if I were to get a ticket & it was, say, $20, I'd pay it and watch my future driving behavior. After all we are human and occasionally make mistakes.

In past times we'd have a scarlet letter or be humiliated in the town square. Seems like we're really not too far off. Especially with the DWI insert in the paper. How about a PEDOPHILE insert instead, so we'd know who are real criminals are.

In the Journal 12/15/07 Chavez says "driving is a privalege not a right in the United States" yhea but if your an illegal it seems to be a right, plus no insurance needed, questionable Id, dont ask dont tell, etc.= Sanctuary city.

Anonymous said...

I think the same can be said about being Mayor. It's not a right but a privilege.

A privilege to serve the publics needs, not his own. Just like a license, privileges can be revoked.

Anonymous said...

Cadigan's law firm represents RedFlex? a) Why hasn't that come out, and b) How can he vote on this issue without it being a conflict if it's actually the case?

Anonymous said...

It was a conflict of interest when he did vote against them. The next day Redflex fired his dumbass

Anonymous said...

Well then. Mute point.
On to another point;
Marty needs to stop preaching the gospel according to him, and start looking at his own behavior. Do we have to mention all of his indescretions?

Anonymous said...

All of these posts are so TRUE!! The illegals are protected, the redlight cash cow continues to pump revenue into the City but where we don't know (city admin. know but they won't tell), rear-end crashes are up, the cameras snap @ the wrong times, 4 chicken-shit councilors got to Capo's for dinner on the taxpayers dime because they're afraid to stand up to Marty, (or sit down to Marty, hahahah) this system is flawed. Wake up this system is a joke, and a bad joke at that!!

"If I run a red light, I want an officer to come to me and tell me and then give me my constitutional right to appeal and fight in court."

Don't hold your breath waiting for that officer to show up....

in case you don't know we're about 100+ officers short of a fully-staffed PD...which is no reason to have redlight cameras, but the few hardworking officers we have are out trying to keep a lid on the major CRIME in the city which is drug dealers, gangbangers, pedophiles, murder, robberty.etc., etc., etc., so you'll have to wait just a little while longer for that officer to show up. But Marty's doing such a great job, now isn't he??

100? More like 200.
980? Bullshit.
More like 860.
As Bob would say, " No Bull"
However, the news media suckups will report anything the 5th floor says.

Have you seen how many officers have been retiring this month! The numbers leaving are crazy.

We are not going to have much of a force left!

However, the administration will cover up the mass retirements.

Anonymous said...

NO. They will count them till next June.

Anonymous said...

Today APD graduated 9 officers! Wow, 9 new APD officers! When about 50 or so are retiring! That will really boost the numbers,,,,not!

Schultz himself said they will not reach 1100 officers by Jan 2008!

Let's see if they lie about the numbers after Schultz made that statement to the crowd!

Anonymous said...

Good Lord!!...this city is in sad shape. No new officers, officers leaving in droves, piss-poor equipment, old(er)vehicles, low moral, etc., etc., let's see, oh yeah, and a police chief that actually apologizes when his officers do their jobs, whether it be breaking up a party or breaking up a demonstration. Ghastly--

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, one more thing: and THIS IS A SANCTUARY CITY!!!

Anonymous said...

The morale on APD could not get any worse than Gallegos, or at least that's what we thought! Then the mayor brought Schultz back from AZ.

This place is in a super sad state of affairs!

Top Management only cares about themselves!

Someone please help us!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

An officer here (from NY) was taling about the former chief of police in NYC now working in LAPD to help with morale and other issues. ANYWAY, the point is that this Chief stands up to the Mayor, won't take any BS from him, and apparently it's working-these officers are getting new equipment, better pay, etc., etc., and their morale is finally getting out of the toilet.

I agree, this is madness. I am going to contact the Council Office & Mayor's Office & tell them that I would support a repeal of the 20 year retirement plan until they get the numbers up. 20 years is too short of a time & all of these officers leaving at such a young age is just wrong. It needs to go back to 25-30 years like it used to be.
