The Piercing Truth

This is right from the dictionary and seems to describe Albuquerque, Berry and Schultz. Fascism (f ash ,izem) noun An authoritarian right wing system of government and/or social organization. (in general use) extreme right wing, authoritarian, chauvinistic and/or intolerant views or practices. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one group over another, national, ethnic, especially social strata or monetarily; a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. Just a Second!

According to KOAT TV, “The city of Albuquerque will extend the length of yellow lights at 20 current and past red-light camera intersections across the city in an attempt to make those areas safer.
Many yellow lights will now stay yellow for 1/2 second longer. City leaders said that two national studies show it will deter drivers from running red lights and prevent crashes.
‘(One study showed) increasing the length of a yellow light from half a second to one and a half seconds had reduced crashes by 50 percent,’ Wilham said.
In addition to increasing yellow light times, the city also increased the times when all four lights are red.
‘That gives anyone who might be running the red light time to clear that intersection before someone could be coming the opposite direction,’ Wilham said.
City leaders said a University of New Mexico study showed that certain red-light cameras help keep drivers safer.
‘But it also told us, by making other adjustments such as increasing the time of yellow lights or increasing the time all lights stay red, also increases public safety,’ Wilham said.
The city also hopes to get the green light to look at adding better signage and to improve rumble strips in the near future.

If these improvements work at the 20 targeted intersections, then city leaders said they could expand the procedures.”

Bravo Mayor Berry, here is another idea, get rid of the out-of-towners (Red flex). Stop them from fleecing our community any further. Place an officer at the intersections and provide police service to the community. If the City is going to create any program; 100% of the proceeds should come back to our community!

Wilham was dressed appropriately in a business suit. We weren’t sure if he was actually acting professional or if he was headed to church or a funeral. Wilham acted as if this is new information that the City did not know about. The City wants money as does Red flex. Mayor Berry, This is a call for you to gain local control. If it is that important to the City; place the red light camera on the ballot and allow the citizens of Albuquerque to decide.

Big Brother needs to go. This idea was poorly thought out although it initially proved to be a “cash cow” for the City. For a wealthy community like Scottsdale where Chief Ray Schultz came from, the additional tax may not be a big deal, for the common folks here in Albuquerque; this is just wrong.

Mayor Berry needs to act decisively and get rid of the cameras. Our Community is struggling to put food on the table; placing this additional taxation is viewed as foolish by some. This could easily be perceived by the public as an olive branch.

Typical Berry. Add a half second to the yellow light and the problem is solved. It must be nice to live in the make believe world that RJ does.

1/2 second. Seriously. Are you kidding?
Is even worth a mention?
We pay Mr. Wilham 75k a year and this is what is big news in this town? So far from what I can tell, this is a part time job at best and school crossing guards spend more time an effort than this guy does.
Subsequently his pay should be that of a crossing guard; no more.
Speaking of worthless positions; Director of Public safety, is another one. Eliminate the position altogether. It's not needed. Between these two bafoons, the city is shelling out one quarter of a million dollars of taxpayer money. Those salaries could be reinvested back into the city and used for more worthwhile projects, like a tunnel under Paseo Del Norte for turtles to pass un harmed OR HOW ABOUT THE FUNDS GO TO GETTING RID OF THE DRUG INFESTED 'GANG BANGERS' FROM OUR STREETS. Oh I forgot, those cretins are someone's friends.

The city gives this guy a take- home car all tricked out with police equipment so he can run code, and this is all he can come up with. Ok, TJ, you came out and gave your weekly speel, now go back to your office , go to sleep or sit around shooting the bull with the other scam artist Darren.
Who's scrutinizing the value of these two? Forget the Mayor; he's totally incompetent and out of touch. How 'bout you David Campbell; do you see or observe these two? Do you know what or $ is buying here?

Ok, I've got an idea. Let's give these two an aptitude test like they do in the real world. Surely that would reveal what they're cut out for.
BUS DRIVERS FOR ABQ RIDE; THAT'S WHAT I SAY. After all, Darren drove a cab, he's qualified and TJ would be able to stop at every fast food restaurant on his route. There; he's qualified.

The EYE says in the article, "Place an officer at the intersections and provide police service to the community".

SAY WHAT??? The traffic cameras are the primary traffic law enforcers in the city. It sure isn't the APD. Every time I get behind the wheel I witness violations, be it excessive speeding, cell/texting while driving, unreadable license plates, fast rolling stops at stop signs, loud vehicles/motorcycles, two of three stoplights inop, very dark tinted windows, etc. If your average citizen notices these then why doesn't the APD? We citizens are told its because the city lacks enough officers to enforce traffic code given most officers are busy responding to calls that are not traffic related. And the EYE suggests putting a cop at intersections. Laughable.

Yeah, that is kinda silly having a cop at every corner. But then again TJ could do it for sure. There's bound to be a MacDonald's or Taco Bell at most intersections

A cop on every corner? We don't need to make Albuquerque any more of a nanny state than it already is. Get rid of these cameras (back door tax), and I think the citizens can make their way through life without a cop to bump into everytime they turn around.

I have NO issue with the cameras. They are a good way to earn revenue. If you don't like paying the $$ for the ticket, don't run the red light. It's a consequence to our own behavior.

we need more cameras everywhere, hell start putting them in locker rooms now for gods sake!
