BREAKING NEWS: Berry Disbands Polygraph Unit, Officers Reassigned to Flood Patrol Division!!!

That's how the Berry' paper known as Albuquerque Journal would have us believe how things are being handled in Berry's police department. But in reality, Berry’s APD Command Staff  is "Playing Dumb (but are they Playing?)"

What does Richard Berry’s new APD have in store for Albuquerque?  A lot more spin, inept leadership and outright lies.

Police Memorial Week
Let’s start with Police Memorial week.  For years Albuquerque has always honored APD and BCSO line of duty officer deaths during the first week of May.  Thas gone on for years and years.  Well this year it was on the calendar for May 6.  The FOP thought so as did a lot of APD officers.  So what happened May 6?  Nothing.  It wasn’t important to Berry so it wasn’t done.

When citizens, politicians and officers started calling Berry’s office to ask what happened the first question Berry’s staff asked them was: “What is Police Memorial?”

Nice.  Berry has been in office four years, during those four years we have had a police memorial every year.  But now his staff doesn’t even know what a police memorial is. When directed to Berry’s Police Department we received the following answers from Command Staff:

1.      “So much going on we decided it was easier to let the NMSP handle it in Santa Fe”
2.      “We were ready but the city council protest on May 5 made us cancel it”
3.      “APD Chaplain Briane Dennision retired (back in March 2013) and we weren’t prepared to handle it”
4.      “We are so busy we just didn’t have the time”
5.      “We had a police memorial ceremony?”
6.      “We are afraid of protestors showing up”
7.      “It conflicted with the FSB Officers Bid” (the bid was May 7, the memorial was May 6)
8.      “It was BCSO fault”

This is just a few of the answers that Berry’s Command staff provided us.  Yes this is the new APD.  Berry’s Police Chief Eden has set the course.  “I don’t know” is now the pat answer for the command staff at Berry’s APD.

The denial of knowledge at Berry’s APD doesn’t stop there.

Polygraph Unit
The Albuquerque Journal comes with a story that could have been hard hitting, but that’s not the Journal’s style.  It is about how Berry’s APD is closing the Polygraph Unit.  Commander Rowe has taken the Berry / Eden course in not answering questions and playing dumb. Or maybe he really is just an idiot.  Here is how he did it.

When asked about the reason for closing the Polygraph Unit, Commander Rowe stated that by outsourcing the Polygraph work the TWO officers currently in polygraph will be sent to the field where they are desperately needed.  This is a LIE! One polygrapher is going to DUI Unit (not part of the FSB Bid for first responders).  That leaves us with one polygrapher going to the FSB Bid.  Now this officer is a retired rehire.  He hasn’t been in a uniform and police car in almost 20 years!  This guy is more of a liability that a help.  Rowe forgets to mention this.  Rowe also forgets to mention that no other specialized unit is being disbanded, zero, nada, none.  So FSB is so short staffed that one officer is going to help.  Really?

Furthermore Rowe could not say what moving to a private company for Polygraph will cost the taxpayer.  Rowe couldn’t provide an estimate of how much the current Polygraph Unit costs.  How about the training?  The certification? The equipment? Nice, it’s not his money so he didn’t look into it.  Oh I must correct myself, Rowe did say this “They’re not cheap”, thanks for the honesty Commander Rowe. Let’s see who gets “greased’ in order to have the polygraph business steered towards a Schultz/Berry business supporter shall we?

What the Journal was afraid to ask were the following two questions, first, was disbanding the Polygraph Unit caused by the unethical conduct of the Academy Director and the very same female polygraph officer?  The director was married (to someone else) and the polygraph officer was being supervised by the director.  Was this the reason Polygraph has been disbanded?  Or the second question, did evidence come out that the Polygraph Unit was helping some applicants who had friends in high places?  Were they causing other candidates to fail because those candidates were not liked or their families were not liked?

The Journal will never search for answers that make Berry look bad.  Make no mistake the answers are out there.  How much did the polygraph machines cost the city?  How much does it cost to certify polygraphers? How much time was spent training the polygraphers in their “practice” and training?  Just send an IPRA request to the city, you will get this answer.  Too bad the guy running the unit doesn’t know, but that takes me back to the reason for this article.

Berry Hiding
Berry’s APD is now fully in bunker mode.  Janet Blair gets hired because Berry is hoping by spending more of our money on his friends she will stop Eden and the APD Command Staff from looking dumb, dumb and dumber.  Too bad Tasia isn’t being forced out to the FSB Bid, but remember, only one officer in an inside position is being forced to the field.  At a time where we have the fewest first responders in recent history, only one officer is being forced out.  Then we have the police memorial, or do we?  After being pressured to hold it, Berry’s Police have decided to keep it out of the public view by holding it at the police academy.  What is Berry ashamed of?  I thought he loved his police officers (flashback to 2013 mayoral campaign).  The police memorial is for the entire community, shame on those men and women on the fifth floor who wear the Albuquerque Police uniform but who don’t stand up for those who gave the supreme sacrifice.  But this is Berry’s world.  Albuquerque apathy has provided for four more years of turmoil.  Good for us!

Janet Blair??? She looks like a cadaver. What does Berry think her role is? Reminding the city what dead people look like before they turn into taxpayer funded zombies?

Janet Blair fits in with Berry's style. Rich / old / white / conservatives. That is the only people he hires. Just look around the fifth floor. White White White. You might have a spanish surname or a a single black commander, but he majority are White White White.

Don't forget about the quashed Internal Affairs complaint from last December. Was that the reason polygraph was shut down? Did Wolf's soon to be exwife file a complaint about adultery? Nothing ever happens to the guys on top (errr you know what I mean). The brass always abuses the guys on the bottom (ok ok I did that on purpose). Wolf should have been fired for his affair. Just wait for the love birds to break up. Christine will file a sexual harassment lawsuit and make the city (taxpayers pay). Nice leadership from Berry's police.

Don't forget that they took three detectives from CNAU and forced them to bid. Yeah, three bodies will make such a huge impact on calls for service.

Anonymous said...

WOW stop the presses.... The field will get one officer to help with calls for service. Well that is just what FSB needed an officer that has been in a dusty old closet for years. Hate to have that guy in my squad. The 5th floor needs to do some serious house cleaning and get more officers out in the field and out of the ridiculous units that have plagued APD for years. SWAT should be out taking calls and backing up FSB like they did in the 80's. If a SWAT call comes in they split and handle it then back to helping out. The Traffic unit needs to be 10-8 for accidents instead of always busy with escorts and when not on an accident they can help FSB out.

What is this about the Wolf/Christine affair? So we basically hired an unethical, immoral retired Fed to join in on the "nature at play" game. Now this is what I call gaming the system. When will these APD women learn about messing with married men...never it seems, wasn't Christine involved in another home wrecking at the Academy in the past?

Isn't she the poster child of inside fat?

Why is it that Ray DeFrates, who is a rehire and SRO is hiding out at the academy? I know he does the cadet firearms training which is only 2 weeks long, but can someone tell me what he does the rest of the 6 months the academy is going on?
He should be ashamed and step up like a real man and go back to SRO's or the field and then when its time for him to train the cadets he can go do that.
What about the chain of command at the academy, why dont they tell him to go back and help out the field and then request him back when needed? That's probably asking to much considering that Jaramillo is scared of his shadow and Archibeque is to busy thinking he is still the cool fat bully in high school.
I guess its on you Ray to do the right thing. Lets see what kind of a man you really are!!!!

Yup she was and it seems she can pretty much have her way with anyone and anything when it comes to APD. Karma is a biatch.....

Welcome to Richard Berry's Police Department. Full of "I don't knows" and spin.

Is the DoJ happy with this? Maybe those two saviors Berry hired from Cincinnati will save us. Why did he hire these two anyway??????????? Something smells in Cincinnati.

Now I know we're in fucking make believe land. When asked about the ass kicking and Tazing big bad Tim Gonterman did his response was "“That incident took place 12 years ago when Taser technology was new,” Gonterman said in a statement to News 13. “It was a mistake, and I have learned from that mistake. I have taken responsibility for it." This is of course where the media in Albuquerque stops and shows us the pussies they are.

Really, Tasers were new in 2004?
Really, Gontwrman took responsibility and that's why he has an endless record of abuse and other cases where he violated officers and citizens rights?
Really he learned from it and that's why he fought so hard in the trial?

Ask Steve Hindi what he thinks of Gonterman... Hahahahahahahahahah this dept cracks me up. more disgrace for the national media to kills us with.

Why do we have 40 retired rehires sitting at Dees Cheesecake (opps I mean APS Schools)? APS has their own police force and they should staff their own jurisdiction. It is a duplication of effort. Give APS Schools to APS and put these 40 SRO's out in Field Services as 911 first responders. We need the help in FSB. Hello Berry and Eden, stop duplicating effort and put these forty officers back on the streets.

Well, city council gift wrapped a five percent raise for us. Where are you APOA? This should be done tonight. Oh wait, you have to screw it up first.

About APD's newest ranks, Assistant Chief and Major:

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 6, 1944, the commander of the 101st Airborne Division landed heavily in a French pasture near the village of Ste. Marie-du-Mont in Normandy. Major General Maxwell Taylor had no time to reflect on the fact that he was the first United States general ever to parachute into combat, as well as the first American general on enemy soil in Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of France.

It took the remainder of the short summer night for Taylor to assemble a few dozen soldiers, most of them assigned to division headquarters. He gathered his officers in a clearing, where they decided to stay put until they could get their bearings. By daylight, Taylor had with him perhaps ninety men, including Chief of Staff Colonel Jerry Higgins, artillery commander Brig. Gen. Tony McAuliffe, division engineer Lt. Col. John Pappas, and Lt. Col. Julian Ewell, a battalion commander in the 501st Regiment. The group was so short of riflemen that Taylor was heard to remark, "Never before have so few been commanded by so many."

APD should learn from history, not repeat it.

Two new positions for APD worthless Commanders. The Urinal said that the New Major spots will now free up the area commanders so they can spend more time with their officers. I almost choked on my bagel when I read that. Who is APD kidding, once someone is promoted above Sergeant they don't give a hang about anyone but themselves. And the two that are now Majors geeeeeeeez. Come on Gordo I mean Berry/Perry. What's next a Major for crossing guards..

The 5% likely comes with a lot of strings attached i.e, agree to give up longevity, reduction in vc and skp accrual rates, agree too another hike
In PERA and. medical contributions,
increase in Dr.visit co-pays it all boils down to a shit stew where your 5% is eaten up by everything else costing us more and the ultimate sacrafice ...Suxanna gets her boy to rid the city of its bargaining units. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. Whatever the fuck that means! FMBFMBFMBFMB

in you give up longevity,

What smells in Cincinnati? The thing that smells in Cincinnati is smelling up Albuquerque. It appears that the two that Berry brought in from Cincinnati are involved with Taser. I guess Ray still has Berry's ear. Don't believe it, goggle their names and Taser you will find it yourself . They are both master instructors and promote the Taser products. Can anyone say corruption ? !!!!!!!!!!!

I just drove by Cottonwood Mall. They have several units from Albuquerque Police, Bernalillo County Sheriff, Valencia County, Santa Fe, and Department of Motor Transport all in the south parking lot.

I guess it was easier to schedule a police meet and greet than it was for Berry / Eden to schedule a police memorial. Shame on them.

Glad to see Rick's daughter is doing good in Florida. Rick would be proud!

Well Santa Fe PD knows how to honor their officers. Apparently their mayor does also. This event for all area law enforcement was held on May 17 at Cottonwood Mall in Albuquerque. Was there anything on the city website about it? NOPE. Wow Berry loves his police so much he doesn't even honor them with a memorial. He doesn't honor them by adding the Cottonwood Mall event to the city calendar. I feel so much Love from Richard Berry...........NOT

Ive never in 20 years seen a commander take calls! hahahahaha oh wait Marty Gilmore, Murray Conrad and Rob Debuck did a few times. I stand corrected. Course they were also called Captains back then.

These new promotions are nothing but a sham! We need more Officers not administrators.

Its the annual kids safety day. This event is done well, and apd is not in charge of it. My family gets updated kid id kits every year at this.

APD was not in charge of the Cottonwood event, that is why it went off with not problems. The current command structure at APD can'f find their ass with both hands.

And what is this stuff about Taser and the two "saviors" from Cincinnati?

@ 5/18 0619,

Ok then, Jeremy, if it was proven that what you claim is indeed factual, where is this information available? Is it accessible only to those brave warriors who proudly don their blue diapers every time they go out on patrol, or can we mere mortals see it too?

Because the OMI says she was shot from her left to her right side, and at a downward angle. Left ear, left upper arm, and right shoulder are NOT the same as "head neck chest [sic]." So please, since you seem to have the facts, enlighten the rest of us.

Here is how the Major promotional process went... Gonterman if you finally fess up for using excessive force on that transient I will promote you. Hell he didn't have to confess just look at how much the taxpayers shelled out on that one. The promotional process for APD has and always will be a joke. Most of the brass have no common sense, and almost all of them came from inside where they had all the time in the world to study on duty. There are wy too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

Current APD command structure said...

What is an ass? We were told we could find one in the mirror. We were also told that it is what is getting us in trouble all the time. Like everything else, we just can't figure it out.

The Mayor's boy John Travolta got arrested last night.

Yea, that is APD's MO. Shut down a vital process and risk public safety to protect a couple assholes. The entire city government had done this for years to protect Schultz. They even assigned him his own personal lawyer and Life Lie Coach complete with an office on his floor.

If APD command staff was in charge of the cottonwood event they would have the below events and games....

Spin the bottle.
Monkey see no, hear no, speak no evil.
Green light, yellow light, red light, GO!
Tazer Tag.
A burreatooh eating contest.
The lying game. (Ray's favorite)
The shell game.
Cow chip office ho. (Stairwell rendition)
Hide and hide.
Hangman.
Windows and (trap) Doors.
Peel the onion.
MILF may I.
Copscotch.
And of course...
Pin the (cell phone, ash tray, kitchen spoon, shampoo bottle.... Player's choice) on the shooting victim.

Enjoy this blog while you can. The Fuehrer is verboten on having all city employees monitored not just at work but forbidding us and monitoring us to make sure we spread only sunshine, unicorns and rainbows . now he's giving raises again to his minions and non -union workers . meanwhile Albuquerque is 86th on a list of 100 of the most jobs lost, the least small business success, and the lowest paid and overworked employees in all categories. Man, do you suck Berry . You couldn't run for dog catcher you are so stupid!

Got to love the creative articulation by Kent "i suck Berry ass" Walz: "Elias Gallegos, a constituent services liaison for Albuquerque, was arrested about 12:45 a.m. Saturday near 1950 San Mateo, according to jail records."

Rowe took walkins at the station when his guys where too busy in the field to respond. Also saw the guy volunteer to meet with parents and their kids who were just starting to get into the sort of crap that leads to the thugs we all see everyday. Maybe if a few more parents and cops were willing to have sit downs with the nine and ten year olds thugs in training we wouldnt arrest so many 13 year olds. Sure, it doesnt always work, but if it works just once isnt it worth it.

You clearly have never met Dear. "Downward angle" as in he is almost a foot taller them her and all 34s fire multiple rounds, at least the ones who meant to fire.
It does not mean he worked his way down her body or that he was standing over her.
Stop thinking just because you watch CSI you know enough to make sense of an OMI report.
If he had done what you think the news would be on it like flies on shit, yet all I hear is crickets.

Anonymous said...

Where and for what? The report isn't in the system.
I guess this administration is making arrests disappear just like the last time. Now that they got away with it right under the DoJ nose what will they do next?

So the face of APDTV that TJ hired was arrested. For once RTCC hired someone who did something criminal after they were placed there.
